A perfect blend of high design and cozy charm where mid-century modern meets farmhouse. The service and hospitality from Bau and Amber were top-notch. The details made all the difference from luxurious bedding to the artisanal granola with breakfast. Loved reading by the fire under soft throws on the comfy sofa. Surprised by the quality of the happy hour beverages. Just a block to the Inn at Little Washington, it was the perfect place to stay for us. If you want something a bit more special than your typical B&B, this is it.

Property's Favourite Review
The White Moose Inn is a mid-century modern styled small inn located in the pastoral and historic town of Washington VA. My husband and I stayed in the Inn's detached Cottage for two nights. Cottage highlights: wood burning fireplace, dedicated parking space and private deck with lots of outdoor seating. Inn highlights: happy hour featuring local VA wines and whiskey, complimentary bikes, outdoor fire pit on the Inn's deck and a fabulous breakfast of coffee (or tea), juice, yogurt with granola and fresh fruit and gourmet quiche.

This is an original house meets modern updates. Though our room (#2) was smaller than expected, it was by and large very quiet. Tip: get a larger room on second floor because a first floor room can hear every step the guests above make. Bau is the Innkeeper and he is excellent and friendly. Many amenities like happy hour at 5 by the beautiful gas fireplace. Includes both red and white wine and a whiskey from a local distillery nearby. Other amenities include a beverage station with cold water and San Pellegrino flavored waters. Also coffee and tea via keurig. Two large jars of both goldfish crackers and pretzels for any snacking needs. A cute bowl of m and ms bedside as well. Flexible breakfast hours. Breakfast is small and you’ll need lunch. Tip: the Inn asked in advance about food allergies, but I was served an item with goat cheese, to which I am highly allergic. As per my usual course, I asked first if the squash quiche had any cheese in it which is when we discovered it did have goat cheese in it. So be sure to confirm any allergies upon arrival. Staff person Jule came to the rescue for an alternate breakfast and she went off the playbook to make me scrambled eggs and toast and jams. Jule was the only person in the kitchen at the time and there was another couple in the dining room as well. Outstanding handling. Comfortable beds and pillows. Outdoor gas fireplace on deck with beautiful views of the mountains. Plenty of easy parking. Overall a very nice experience. An aside, In July, which was the time of our original trip for dinner at the Inn at Little Washington, my husband landed in the hospital two days before our big dinner. The Inn at Little Washington was very gracious and rescheduled us immediately. We encountered many problems trying to reschedule the White Moose Inn. This inflexibility and poor communication really created a bad taste for the Inn. But the bill had already been paid in full. We felt trapped. Fortunately a new staff member got back to us the day we were to drive down. She rescheduled us. Tip: we understand these managers/Innkeepers are no longer at the Inn and Bau is quite nice and eager to be helpful. We also met one of the owners who was dismayed to hear how we were treated in July. He was very gracious and clearly took our Inn experiences to heart. This created much goodwill and having our grievance heard and learning those staff persons were no longer there improved our opinion about the Inn. Hope this review has been helpful!

We had a great overnight stay at the Inn recently. Vann, the manager, was very accommodating, helpful and truly went above and beyond his duty for us! The breakfast was beautifully served by a very polite waitress. Our room was comfortable and well -appointed.

Decided to stay at the White Moose in during an overnight visit to the Inn at Little Washington for dinner. So glad we did! It started with a personal greeting as well pulled in and were quickly shown to our room. The room was beautifully decorated and exuded simple elegance. They knew we were celebrating my husband’s 60th and surprised us with a bottle of wine. In the evening they have a nice happy hour with a local winery and distillery to taste. And the walk to dinner was so easy since the Inn is only a few steps away. I only have two regrets: that we didn’t have a longer stay to take advantage of the complimentary bikes and scenery in this quaint town, and that I was too full from dinner the night before to enjoy the quiche and granola available for breakfast! I definitely recommend a visit and plan to go back!
