We stayed for 6 days at the Hotel Mont Valllon in 2 Duplex rooms, which were very spacious with the double bed on the mezzanine. The rooms were cozy, comfortable with all the necessary amenities and warm although a bit dated. However, the bathroom was renovated. The common sitting area adjacent to the bar was very cozy and equipped with a lot comfortable sofas and armchairs around a fireplace. The bar served excellently prepared drinks. Breakfast and dinner was very satisfactory and was served in the main restaurant, Le Chalet. Half board dinner menu was very tasty, prepared with a lot of local products, and more than enough. At the end there was always a French cheese and dessert buffet. The other restaurant, L'Authentic was a simple Brasserie serving non-stop Savouyard specialties inside by the fireplace or outside on a terrace overlooking the ski slopes. The Wellness area included a swimming pool, a gym, sauna and hamam and a squash court (!). The equipment was adequate but also a bit dated. The hotel staff was very friendly and attentive, however not always speaking English. Snowstone is the hotel's own Ski-shop with excellent and very friendly staff always there to solve issues with ski equipment and to give tips.

Hôtel Mont Vallon is a superb ski-in ski-out hotel in best location and value for money compared to nearby hotels. The 1980's style should not be seen negatively and has its own charm.

Very welcoming hotel really at the foot of the slope, really comfortable and has a great reception staff that makes you feel at home and they tried very hard to speak our language. You have lockers for skis at reception height and it is very comfortable. It is already a few years old but they keep it very clean and careful and the heating works great. The cuisine for dinner is wonderful in the main restaurant and breakfast has a correct variety. Even if it's buffet, and as something to improve, if I understand that based on the price of their rooms, the coffee should be served at the tables. We really liked the main restaurant, which has excellent cuisine, but for a family with younger children the choice of the brasserie, more informal, is very good and the kitchen fantastic (maybe it would improve the treatment of the brasserie manager, who is very friendly but somewhat rough). Finally, just comment on the negative aspect that in rooms of this price do not change more often the bedding (of several days, to my memory at least three we were with a small visible stain outside on the duvet and did not change them). Otherwise, the final feeling very positive and delighted to have stayed at this hotel.
As an advice I would say that dinner is more enjoyed if you go about 20,00!

From arrival to departure we had an excellent stay at the hotel. Staff were welcoming, friendly and happy to help. Rooms were great, good size, plenty of storage, spotlessly clean with conscientious caring room staff, very well maintained with lovely decor. Superb location for the slopes with three chair/cable lifts very close by allowing quick access up the mountain.

The bar area was welcoming and homely, lots of space, log fires and an extensive choice of drinks/ cocktails. A lovely area to relax after a day skiing and for pre dinner drinks.

An added bonus is the ski hire shop which is part of the hotel Snowstone, 10% discount for residents and personal service I have never experienced in 35 years skiing, skis out ready in the morning on the slopes to literally step into an ski off.

We ate in the Brasserie twice. The first evening was great with good food and service but unfortunately our last evening was somewhat spoilt with a different experience. We were I think the first to be seated. Our drinks order was taken pretty much as soon as we sat down but we said we hadn't had chance to look at the menu as we had just sat down. We ordered and after that several tables were taken by other people. We had our starter but then waited quite some time before we got our main courses having sat and watched all the other tables after us get at least one and in some cases a second course. They also had second rounds of drinks, eventually we managed to catch someone to ask for water. We seemed to be on an invisible table as we tried to catch the attention of several people without success and each time they walked past out table. Eventually I saw a pizza and burger and thought it was ours but the waiter disappeared and wandered round the restaurant before finally coming back to the kitchen doorway where he consulted with a colleague. I stood and waved my arms and he brought the food over however by the time we got the food the burger and chips were OK but my pizza was lukewarm having taken some time to get from the kitchen to our table. Failing to attract the attention of a waiter once again my daughter helped herself to the tap water from the bar top. Why you ask didn't I complain that evening, one my daughter worked in hospitality for years and asked me not to cause a fuss and two we were leaving at 4.45am the next morning and didn't have time to wait for another pizza to be cooked for me.

We have been coming to Mont Vallon for 15 years; a few disappointing points:
-ordinary soups compared to the delicious ones before
-unimaginative desserts compared to previous years
- room cleaning with bathrobe forgotten, lights on, window open and free bottle of wine removed although not emptied
very loud music in the restaurant during a dinner

Hotel location great and standard of cleanliness in the rooms was great. Nice cosy bar and some friendly staff. Food… if you have any dietary requirements this isn’t the place for you. I emailed twice to confirm that one of our parties dairy intollerence and vegetarian preference could be accommodated. The hotel emailed back and said yes all would be ok. Checked again when we got there and they again said yes all was in hand and they would have a vegan menu so we could all have a lovely meal together with the half board £1750 per week option we had chosen). Oups no this was not the case and our party member was served vegetables cooked in butter, soup with cream on the first night. Ok so maybe it hadn’t been passed to the chef and we were assured that things would be better the second night. No this was not the case and our guest had to eat bread and jam for her meal. The offering all week was practically salad, salad and more salad (even for breakfast they brought a salad). The service in the brasserie restaurant was very poor, (depending who was on shift) staff chatting instead of taking orders and serving. Drinks took sometimes 20 minutes to arrive (no it wasn’t busy) I think basically the management and kitchen need more training it seems like no one really cares and you do feel a little like an inconvenience. The staff tried and I think they were all worn out after New Year (we arrived on 3rd Jan) this could be a great hotel with a few changes and a bit more training and enthusiasm from the staff. Paul in the chalet restaurant seemed to be trying to do everyone’s job but still with a smile on his face. He would be well worth investing in as part of your management team. He has the right attitude and nothing was too much trouble. A little disappointing for us as a family as it did make the meal times not as enjoyable for us all.

My son and I stayed at Mont Vallon for a long weekend and found the hotel to be full of character and charm but perhaps a little dated and tired. The staff were incredibly attentive and warm. We stayed on a half board basis and felt that the fine dining experience took a little too long, we had to ask twice for our food to come (there was a 1 hour wait between soup and starter). Breakfast was excellent with a huge notice. We booked a twin room which was well equipped and comfortable. However the twin beds were more like a double bed as there was no room at all between the two beds and no opportunity to separate them.

Dear Surkirby26, We would like to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your stay. We do love the title of your comment which lovely descibes our hotel. We are happy to read that you appreciated the warmth of the hotel and the staff. We appologize for your experience during diner and found that the service was sometime taking too long. Our bedding is what we call "Italian bedding" and do not allowed us to have two distinctively sepparate beds. Thank you again for your time. Best regards, Camille Front office manager

Everything was fine but the heating in rooms would be better. Electric radiator size was not enough compared the size of the room.
In addition, we would feel safer if there was smoke detector and/or springler system in rooms.

Great location, superb staff. Cosy traditional hotel that could do with a refurb but ideally situated for slopes, centre and shops. Staff couldn’t do enough. Lacking coffee/tea making facilities in room so only option is to buy at the bar which is hugely expensive. Most hotels offer at least some hot drinks when you get back from the slopes.

Nice pool and saunas.

Given a late checkout without any problem

The concierge is so lovely.

Just a shame about the hot drinks !

An aging hotel and non-existent service!
Regarding the hotel part, this hotel is not worthy of a 4 star, it remained stuck in the 80s without any maintenance or renovation. No smoke detector in the rooms, no soundproofing in the rooms and very spartan comfort.
But the icing on the cake is the service in the restaurant which is pathetic! No organization! No professionalism! This is deplorable! Reservations are not honored, the wait is endless, the dishes are not served at the same time for all guests! And the only responses we get are excuses or “we’ll do what we can”…. In short, a disaster.
A quick opinion on the SPA which is not one with extremely dilapidated facilities and showing questionable hygiene.
Overall the quality/price ratio is extremely poor.
This establishment is not worth your visit or your money.
