Breakfast and dinner buffets were consistently good, with plenty of variety and enough to meet the heartiest of appetites.
The hotel’s ski in-out location is perfect for accessing the slopes, and Motteret places you away from the late evening noise and occasional rowdiness of central Meribel.
Katie the manager and her friendly team of staff, were welcoming, attentive, helpful and professional and well presented, without exception.
We travelled with my daughter and son-in-law, on an all inclusive basis, staying in 2 Prestige Rooms with balconies;
The rooms were fresh, bright and clean, mountain view’s, comfortable beds, Good showers over baths, quality toiletries. Fairies came and freshened our rooms daily.
The lounge and bar was cosy and comfortable, live music on a couple evenings. As someone who does not want to ski all day, I enjoyed curling up on one of the sofas, with my kindle. Great bar staff, who despite the hotel being busy, remembered our favourite tipples from day 1. Alcohol/non alcohol choices for all inclusive were good, though it would be nice if a cider could be included on the wide list.
The restaurant was cosy and had a lovely atmosphere. Good service, quality, well presented food, At least 2 hot main choices, with sides, a special, nice array of salads, starters and cheeky deserts, Decent wines and beer served at the table. Breakfasts were exceptional. ABBA night, with singer was fun, with the staff dressing up and entertaining us with impromptu dancing between serving. Lunch was a little limited, to burgers, fries, or a hot dish of the day. It would be nice if perhaps soup and bread could be offered as an alternative but what was served was of good quality. There is however, the option of lunch vouchers to be used at a handful of restaurants on the slopes.
We had a wonderful time and along with many of other guests we met, we are already in the process of booking to return again next year.
Well done to Katie and every member of her team!
Location right on the slopes
Dog accepted
Responsive housekeeping when the dog leaves the room. Very friendly housekeeping staff.
Staff rather friendly and helpful apart from one person who gave us a very bad welcome (French-English). We still feel that it is the end of the season and that the staff is at the end of their race.
Half board offers varied, healthy and rather high quality choices in the morning and evening.
Self-service tea and coffee in the hotel even if the water was rarely hot to brew anything.
For children, self-service sweets and cakes.
The Bad:
Very poor reception. Barely hello and 0 welcome.
We collect the keys with 0 explanations: how to access the room? where was the ski room? meal times and location? Spa? I had to ask and then it got loud (she preferred to laugh with regular English customers).
Does not offer any help with luggage (even though I later noticed on Instagram that there is 1 staff for that) After 3 days we discovered that we could have used direct exterior access to the same floor. Instead of crossing the entire hotel 3 times with big suitcases.
Nothing is explained to us about having to reserve the outdoor jacuzzi.
The condition of the hotel is poor (general cleaning/upkeep).
We discovered broken glass on the floor of our terrace which had certainly never been cleaned all season.
The room is poorly designed in terms of the cupboard doors, the bathroom and the bedroom, it is necessary to manage the opening and closing constantly to avoid shocks. Suggestion: have you heard of sliding doors?
The ski room is dirty, small and quickly becomes a mess. secure but it’s often left wide open.
Very noisy restaurant, it's more of a canteen atmosphere. Especially if there are groups and if they are drunk. We don't get along anymore.
it is very dark there. Lighting too dim and windows very dirty.
The tables are sticky. The seats are dirty.
The outdoor and indoor spa is unappealing, it's overcrowded and dirty.
The outdoor jacuzzi under our windows used until at least 11 p.m. (even though the hotel indicates an earlier closing)
customers laugh and talk loudly (drunk) with 0 hotel discipline.
Children playing and screaming in the hallways late at night.

The Sport 2000 shop is located practically within the hotel, and we were given a super welcomed 25% off our ski hire, which was greatly appreciated.
Sushi night was our favourite night - the produce so fresh & high quality, but really, all of the meals were delicious and had plenty of variety.
Highly recommend this place - we will be back!
Thank you to the Hotel Mottaret Team!
Location is perfect, from the front of the hotel you have a 1 minute easy run straight down to centre of Mottaret/tourist office/lift pass office/ski school meeting points. This slope also has a gentle sledging area, or you could choose to do the night time sledging on Tuesday evening if feeling more adventurous. It's also the run where the kids torchlit run descends on Wednesdays. It was pretty easy to walk back up to the hotel, either by steps or by slope but you could take the Chalets lift if preferred. Being a little higher in Mottaret (having stayed many times in Meribel), also meant much quicker access to the 3 valleys with little to no queues.
The hotel is warm and welcoming, with good sized rooms, comfortable beds, powerful hot showers and fabulous views, all well taken care of with great housekeeping staff. We enjoyed the newly built spa and the hot tub out front, sitting by the fire enjoying Hugo's cocktails, and the restaurant (the all inclusive package is definitely excellent value for money).
The food is outstanding, we especially appreciated the great lengths gone to for both the French Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve and the British Christmas dinner (including crackers) on Christmas Day. Santa made a special visit with gifts for all children, not just any gift...each child had been very carefully considered. The chefs sought feedback and were eager to please, which they did every day.
Best of all are all of the staff, without exception, nothing is too much trouble and they are incredibly welcoming, hard working and professional (even in supporting myself with a medical emergency). I generally have a rule of not returning with a view to always trying somewhere new but, for this place, I would make an exception, this hotel is difficult to beat.
Thank you Katie and the whole team for everything.

The unlimited use of the spa was a lovely addition. It was quite busy once everyone had returned from skiing, but quietened into early evening. You can book a private slot for the outdoor hot tub after 6pm, and this worked fine. This can just be arranged whilst there.
I had a room in the older part of the hotel, overlooking the road. Whilst it was a bit tired, the shower and storage space was excellent.
Location was perfect. It was just over a single road to join a green run which took you to all of the lifts in Mottaret. From here you can easily access Meribel (via another easy green), Courchevel etc.
A short walk from the hotel there is the free bus which runs fairly frequently to Meribel, which I used on a couple of evenings.
It is also only a 5 min walk to get to a number of restaurants in Mottaret. All of the ones I went to were good. Because of the hotels location being uphill, and almost ski in/ski out, good footwear is needed, even in the evening.
I booked my ski hire and pass through the hotel. Both the pass and voucher for hire were available at check in. The ski hire shop is right next door which is a big bonus. They were very efficient and were willing to swap a pair of boots the following day.
The breakfast choice was good with cold and hot food. There is the option when only on bed and breakfast to pay extra for the evening buffet. I did this one evening, and it was reasonable. Everything I had was nice, but I have had hotel buffets with more choice.
Cocktails were great!
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend for exploring the 3 Valleys.

Rooms are very comfortable, clean and showers are great. The cold setting for those that are brave is incredibly refreshing and always great after a tough day skiing.
Food is very good and breakfast sets you up for a good day on the slopes.
There is a great bar and lounge with a pool table.
Spa has a lovely pool , indoor jacuzzi, steam, sauna ,gym and treatment rooms. Outdoor jacuzzi is very popular with everyone.
The afternoon tea is excellent and the staff are top draw.
Boot room and ski room is on site and easy plus you have a ski shop literally next door so everything is in easy reach.
Restaurants, bars and nightclubs are 5 mins walk and the free bus service to Méribel is just 10 mins ride from the tourist office.
Slopes are 10 m away and so well signed posted you can’t really get lost.
If you venture out there are some fab places to eat in Mottarett and Meribel so you are spoilt for choice.
Great for families, singles, couples and friends
Particularly quiet and very well soundproofed.
We would like to thank all the staff and especially “Mélanie”.
The themed catering is very nice and varied.
Establishment that we highly recommend!

Boot room and ski store was a bit of a free for all
The breakfast and dinner buffets were generally very good, although our fussy children didn’t fair so well as it wasn’t during traditional school holidays. I am veggie and there was some options, better for fish and meat eaters.
Great live music in the bar before dinner on several nights.
Spa was fantastic, clean and usually pretty quiet
The room was spacious and comfortable (prestige quad) - much bigger than expected. Well decorated and furnished but the bathroom was a bit tired looking.
Location wise, it’s a very short walk across the road onto a nursery run and then right near 3 major lifts. Our weather was pretty mixed but the hotel more than made up for it
