Whenever you are in Jonzac, make sure you get the chance to have dinner at Le Coq d'or! This stylish restaurant is a bit hidden behind a rather 'bistrot-ish' entrance and next to the hotel part so you can't tell from the outside how great this restaurant is. Not only it is nicely decorated with some beautiful pictures, but you also feel directly at home thanks to the warm welcome. You get great advice on what to choose, also in case of allergies, and finally the food itself is delicious! Highly recommended ... ! Can't tell anything about the hotel as we haven't slept here, but if it is anywhere near the restaurant quality, I guess you have a great stay ...

Beautiful hotel in a very quiet town overlooking the Castle. I booked this Hotel based on reviews on Tripadvisor and so glad that I did. The rooms were immaculate, extremely spacious, large comfortable bed, spacious bathroom with excellent shower. The Owners were extremely welcoming and really made you feel at home. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night, amazing. We intended to eat on the second night but we had an evening event to attend in Barbezieux St Hilliare so unfortunately we didn't arrive home until late. Breakfast was very good with excellent coffee. We enjoyed sitting outside the Hotel overlooking the square and relaxing. Jonzac is a beautiful quiet little town with quaint shops and a local market held on a Friday with lots of fresh food, impressive to visit. If you are looking for complete chill, in a little town, in the most beautiful French Hotel with friendly owners, staff and locals with easy access to Bordeaux Airport (1hr 11 min), Anguoleme (51 mins) and Cognac (35 mins). Very impressive memorable stay and we will return.

In the centre of a charming town, but with ample on-street parking available, we had a large room overlookibg the town square and castle. The ownwr was most welcoming and friendly. We had a really excellent dinner at a reasonable price and slept very soundly. Breakfast was good, with excellent coffeeand fresh bread. This ios an absputely delightful hotel.

In an enviable position overlooking the castle and at the heart of the local promenade, Le Coq d’Or is an archetypal provincial French hotel. Imposing stone facade, balcony and shuttered windows, large dark wood bar, large staircase and mirrors all fit the French cliches very well, and the hotel certainly lives up to them. The rooms themselves are large and imposing - we had Room 3 (Noir) with a balcony view over the castle and valley, which was very impressive in the cool early morning. The classic French theme continues in the rooms, but there’s also a very good bathroom with an excellent shower, very large and comfortable bed, TV, free wifi, etc. €89 for a room, plus €10 each for breakfast. A lovely and memorable stay. Absolutely recommended, especially if you want to impress.
