Detailed Reviews
Cost about $100 versus $250 at the resort 3 miles away. I saved about $150. There were a few catches which I'll get to. This is a cozy spot and the staff were very friendly, even happy and chatty. Fabulous. The burger I had for dinner was perfectly cooked as were the fries. The service was excellent. The building appears to be built a few generations ago but was converted to an inn with small rooms. It's like an old hotel with skinny hallways, bouncy floors and worn rugs.
My room was very small and someone went to a lot of trouble to make it look good. Nice bathroom tiles, the smallest sink I have ever seen a double bed and a knotty pine ceiling. Oddly, the two lamps were dim and equivalent to 30 watt bulbs. Weird, since you can get an 60 watt equivalent LED that costs the same to run and would make the room happier.
The room was cold--about 58 degrees per the thermostat. Eventually, I figured out that some of the heat would come from a vent in the bathroom but I doubt the temperature was over 60 at any point in the evening. There were two thin blankets on the bed that didn't quite keep me warm. By 8 in the morning, the room was warmer and the shower was super hot. To be fair, I could have found an employee to sort out the temperature but since this was the last available room I didn't think anything could have been done. It was a very cold and windy night. Another issue which has to be mentioned is hair on the shower walls and at the drain?!
The breakfast omelet and home fries and toast were fabulous. Fabulous. A+
The JVI is an economical and convenient alternative to the luxury at the Jay Peak Resort. After all, most of us just need a warm, clean room and a shower. I won't be returning except perhaps for the breakfast. But it's hit or miss with such places and the cold room, lack of extra blankets and hair in the shower was disappointing. I met a couple on the tram that LOVE the JVI? There's no accounting for taste.

This modest inn’s 16 rooms, provides good value. Our room was small, tiny really. But at 100 bucks a night in the middle of summer high season cannot complain. Rooms are clean and tidy. It’s restaurant has a reputation of being among the better in area. It’s outdoor pool is decent size, although not super clean. And it’s deck is nice and capable of handling a hotel 10 times the size.

We are Vermonters and frequent, seasoned area travelers to all over our state having covered more ground than most. Some of our road trips are much better than others. The Jay Village Inn never lets us down. We have stayed there four times over the last 20 years and it has always been a very positive experience. Check in was fast and smooth. This was our first stay over on the third floor level, these are rooms 15 or 16. These rooms are a bit of a trek to get to as a some have mentioned however not at all that difficult to access. I am a senior citizen that is known to walk with the aid of a cane at times so do not let the comments of others deter you. The room and private bath were recently renovated to perfection and nicely sized and laid out. A small fridge is provided. The queen size, vintage real hardwood bed was extremely comfortable. The ladies will appreciate the great bath room mirror lighting. An honest to goodness heat lamp! Overall very good lighting with phone charging ports provided. One nicely sized window facing the East. The gas fired corner fire place provided superior temperature regulation. I set it at 73 and there was none of that up and down nonsense that seems to be everywhere. A wide assortment of channels on the TV if you would rather just like to lay back and do that for a while. There was more than plenty of hot water however you may have to run that for one minute at first. While we have stayed over at the Jay Peak Resort a couple of times we are not taking anything away from the Peak, the Jay Village Inn offers a bit more intimate lodging experience while the Peak remains still just only a five minute drive away. This time for us, it was about the mode that we wanted to slip into, lay back and chill of chose the faster resort pace. The country village store and a very nice gift shop- outfitter is right across the street. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner downstairs I strongly advise offering both delicious, large portions and fair pricing. While we did not do this, but with the full bar downstairs it's possible to cocktail to one's heart content and head off to your room later without driving concerns. Our drinks with dinner were excellent. Fish lovers should get the Whaler, I always do. Newport with all it's localized shopping is only twenty minutes away and is worth the short drive for an all day outing. I am pleased to say that the town is very much on the positive upswing since our last visit to the area three years ago. We picked up on that right away so please take that under consideration and support these local businesses, there is very much shopping to do and see there.
We have already discussed our probable return to the region again next year as there simply was not enough time to cover everything in just two and a half days. When we do there is no doubt that the JVI shall once again become our lay over point again! May your journey be as pleasant-

we had dinner which was good. Cesar salad with steak was beyond our expectations. Also got the brownie sundae for dessert, it was excellent. Our room however was pretty awful. Make sure you check what room you get before booking. The lower numbers are over the restaurant and bar and they are incredibly loud. We were in room 1 and could hear complete word for word conversations from below. We were told it would quiet down at 9 however it was loud until 10:30. This was frustrating after a long day of skiing. I actually had to buy ear plugs and Benadryl from across the street because JVI was full and they couldn’t change our room. The fan in the room was also broken and we had to ask for a working one. I would never stay here again unless I was far and away from the restaurant. I can’t believe they actually rent out that room. When I tell you I could understand every word spoken below, I am not exaggerating. We also were interested in using the hot tub but found it half full and it had about a dozen empty beer cans littered around it. We did not end up using it.

House keeping was not their strong point since I couldn’t use the desk drawers for my clothes storage because mice had defecated and urinated throughout. I tried to add image but got an error message. After returning home one of the guys warned us to check our clothing because he found insects among his.
The restaurant was quite good serving decent food in very large portions by exceptionally friendly staff.

This is an affordable place to stay that is less than a 10min drive to Jay Peak. They have GREAT food with large potions, also at an affordable price. Very nice people, no parking issues. Awesome fireplace near the bar.
Directly across from the Jay Country store that has everything you might need.

Went in on 2/15 and our service was so openly hostile it was mind blowing. We had one black family member and she would not speak to him. Our food was cold and check was thrown onto the table. Another couple noticed and even came up to us and apologized on behalf of them. It ruined a family weekend.

Perfect overnight stay. We were not expecting a 5-star resort but we found the Jay Village Inn to be comfortable and accommodating. Upon arrival we were greeted at the desk, checked in, and were given a full rundown including restaurant / bar hours. Since we needed to depart early the next day, JR told us that we could grab coffee and a bite across the street at the store which would be open early. The restaurant / bar was a perfect in-house amenity and offered fantastic beverages and awesome food ! A very welcoming bar with a very casual vibe. Portions were huge and the drinks were well crafted and not skimpy !
The room had a very comfortable bed, tv, small refrigerator and private bath. The shower is a bit 'compact', but that's no big deal. Nothing else needed for a road stop !

+1
This place is a nice little gem in Jay. I came in off the Long Trail because of heat, then waited out a storm. Great price, great food, pool, friendly staff, and a bar. David the manager treated me great. Thank you!

If you are staying at The Jay Village Inn for a few days you better hope for nice weather as the rooms do not allow one to simply hang out. The rooms are small and provide no chairs. There are no closets so you better travel light. Our bathroom was hardly accomodating. It did not have a tub and the shower was dated and extremely small with a shower head that should have been replaced a long time ago. The toilet seat was unstable and the sink provided no counter top for toiletries. Surprisingly enough, an envelope was provided so we could give the maid a gratuity. However, there was no maid service at all. The garbage cans were never emptied, the towels were never changed and we had to ask for more bathroom tissue when the roll was empty. This establishment appears to be recognized by the local residents for its restaurant. Unfortunately, it is necessary to go through the restaurant to go to ones room. A coffee maker is not provided in the room nor is complimentary coffee available anywhere on the premises. Needless to say, there is no such thing as a free breakfast here. As a whole, I feel this place is overpriced and there are much better accomodations, at a good price, elsewhere in the area.
