Upon arriving at the hotel we needed to use the restroom, as it had been a long drive. To my surprise, we needed a key to use it. This immediately made me think we were in an unsafe part of Houston. Hotel is in need of some major updating. The lighting in the room was very unflattering and sterile, too fluorescent. The carpet in the room was dirty & seemed damp. The bedding needs to be updated & replaced, the comforters are not soft but scratchy. Also there’s a musty smell in the rooms. At breakfast you had to have a voucher. There was not much of a selection and they kept running out of things. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful and others were not. A gentleman my husband talked to was kind enough to give us a late check out due to some medical appointments that delayed our departure, so that was super nice! Another positive is the size of the suites, they’re very spacious. Overall, though I would not stay there again.…
It's funny as you walk down Main street in the heart of the Houston Medical Complex and you see this 6 story hotel in the middle of all of it. It is sort of dwarfed by the size of the buildings all around it. But once in side you will think you are in one of the larger buildings. You will find the rates comfortable for a downtown hotel. The rooms are tremendously spacious. We really liked the two different desktop style tables in the room. The hot breakfast was a nice treat after so many of our post Covid stays at various hotels that have turned into the Continental variety. This hotel is in easy driving distance of Herman Park which also houses the Houston Museum of Natural Science, The Cockrell Butterfly House, and the Houston Zoo....(all of our destinations). There are plenty of nearby restaurants too and parking really isn't to bad of an issue. Perhaps a little TV in the room might have fit with the overall size of the room and as always is the case the split style AC units...you have to put up with a bit of noise coming from the Air Conditioner but overall we were very comfortable and were glad we booked here. …
We stayed at this hotel a few times before. It has been fine, but this visit had problems in different areas. Failed to tell us that housekeeping was by request only (did not have clean towels 2nd day). Evidently you had to request housekeeping each day. Loud noise was not resolved until after 12:30 (took over 2 hours). A/C failed on last night and the front desk forgot to contact maintenance to take care of it (by they time they showed up - after 2nd request - my wife was so fed up, she just wanted to leave the hotel). Food was also problematic since it kept running out.
No hand sanitizer, staff and guest not wearing masks. This hotel is in a medical district and health safety of their guests is not a concern. My room looked dirty and we had to wipe it down. Candy wrappers weer still on the floor and mold or mildew was in the tub. I felt dirty staying here.
We found cockroaches and made the desk aware. The agent indicated that we would change rooms, which didn't happen. As a cancer patient, I was very busy 3 of the 4 sleepless nights we were there therefore not able to pursue the matter aggressively. I emailed the manager and received no response.
