We arrived late in the evening, and were told upon arrival that they only had one of our two rooms. Apparently, they overbooked the hotel, despite my having already checked in online. While I do understand that it was Memorial Day weekend and mistakes happen, it was the incredibly callous response by the desk manager that left me almost speechless. Here are the things that happened: He (Joseph?) offered no apology, made no effort to solve the problem, and did not even offer something so basic as points to ameliorate the situation. He then helpfully suggested we go somewhere else, which was three times the price per room, and then said, "As a courtesy, we will refund you your money and not charge you for tonight's stay." Really? He said that with a straight face. The final insult was when he said that, "I was paying government rate, anyway, so what am I really complaining about?" So if I am traveling for work and pay government rate, I should not expect to have my reservation held for me? I should take what I get? I opt to stay at Marriotts whenever possible because I like and trust the brand. This was a remarkable detour from typical good service. A hotel cannot take a reservation and then simply not have it when guests arrive. In the event that it does happen, the hotel should find rooms at a nearby hotel and pay the difference in the rate. That is basic customer service.

Pros (but maybe a little critical): Great location, except it's next to the trolly line and you will likely hear train noise throughout your stay. The staff was friendly, but a little lackluster when it came to honoring requests (there was no body wash, shampoo, or conditioner in the bathroom) to which they put a small plastic bag of products on the door. We requested extra pillows and an upper floor, neither of which were fulfilled. They did have an operational valet staff that was very prompt and professional. The room was great, though, with a comfortable bed and waterfall shower. The hotel was also secure, which was nice with the homeless population that were located just outside. Cons: There is no operating restaurant or bar at this location.

While the room was good and the hotel well located, the lady in the front desk was awful with us, as soon as she knew we were not americans she had this horrible attitude and for our surprise they charged us with $38 of valet parking, it's funny because we didn't have a car! We're definitely not coming back.

Very nice Marriott property! Sleek design with necessary essentials incorporated into the room; small table for work and very comfortable bedding. Reasonably priced until the rodeo came into town and then the rates doubled.
