Great bunkhouse in an ideal location. Single room with basic but adequate facilities, plus a shared kitchen, dining room and shower room / toilet, all of which were very clean. Good service and right beside the hotel for bar food and drinks. Ideal base for outdoor activities, would use again.
What a surprise this place was, I had read some of the previous reviews and was not expecting much. The bunkhouse is very clean, comfy bed, with wash hand basin, unit and hair dryer. The shower room was also very clean and there was a well equipped kitchen with toaster, fridge, kettle and sufficient cutlery and plates. The living area has a large table and numerous chairs with a flat screen tv on the wall. Anyone that complains about this place is obviously not used to staying in bunkhouses. The staff we encountered at the adjoining hotel were all very welcoming and the food served there was also good.
Good standard of bunkhouse, with high standard of cleanliness. Very well heated, with bathroom and kitchen facilities, along with basic lounge with TV. Wifi available free and the bunkhouse is located right next to the Ledgowan Lodge Hotel, which is a first rate Scottish Country House Hotel, with bar meals, packed lunches and a bar available. All the facilities one needs. Will use again.
We turned up to a very grand old hotel where a miserable man gave us the keys to an outhouse. There were 5 rooms, and the other 3 rooms were taken by 3 lovely Scotsmen who informed us that there was no bedding for the beds, just a mattress cover and a pillow. It seems neither they nor my friend (who booked for us) had seen this information in the small print on booking.com, which the manager assured us is there. The Scotsmen and we asked him nicely if we could borrow some blankets, which he refused, saying we could buy a £10 sleeping bag off him. Everything about the hotel itself is extremely outdated - an old hunting lodge for sure. The manager said our best bet was turning the heating up and leaving it on all night. I suggested this was less cost effective than paying for a bit more laundry, but he didn’t seem bothered. The heating was very effective, however it didn’t stay on all night as promised. Luckily the night temperatures were still just in double figures but I still felt cold. He assured me the mattress cover and pillowcases were washed, but I doubted that by looking at them. The kitchen facilities were adequate and there was a dining room with a television, the only pluses about staying there. The bathroom facilities while adequate, was missing loo roll - something that only made my eyes roll further at the whole thing!…
Great bunkhouse has single rooms with comfortable beds and communal sitting room with TV, full kitchen and shower/toilet. Can eat in hotel which has a good menu and fantastic range of whiskies. Just £22/night - bring your own sleeping bag or hire one. 5 mins walk from Achnasheen railway station and start of Fionn Bheinn walk.
