Travellers' Choice
With its stunning location sat on the hill above Uig bay, 5 minutes from the Ferry Port, the Hotel makes a perfect base for exploring North Skye before heading off to the Outer Hebrides, the Highlands and beyond. The Fairy Glen can be found in the hills just behind the Hotel while the Quiraing, Kilt Rock and the Old Man of Stor are an easy drive around the peninsula. The scenery is spectacular and has provided the backdrop for many films including Stardust, Macbeth, Prometheus and most recently Spielberg’s BFG. The village of Uig is home to Uig Pottery and the Isle of Skye Brewery, both of which have shops on site. The Uig Hotel is an old coaching Inn dating back to 1831. Its owned and run by Billy and Anne Harley, joined by a friendly team including dogs Ziggy and Rosie! The Hotel has 11 warm and comfortable bedrooms, many with sea views, while our sister site Uig Lodge has a further 8 all with views of the bay. The Hotel is pet friendly; dogs are welcome in our rooms and bar area.

My wife and I are just back from a four-day stay in this wonderful hotel. Everything was perfect from we arrived until we left. The room (12) had great views over Uig Bay and the sea beyond. The room itself was spotlessly clean and was well presented. The food was to die for. The standard dinner menu was excellent in itself but every day there were different specials featured as well and as residents, we had advance notice of them so we could pre-book them before they sold out. The quality of the food and the cooking was first class. Breakfast too was a culinary delight. The hotel bar was well stocked with a huge choice of Whisky as well as other spirits and locally brewed craft beers and Gin. The whole trip was complemented by excellent staff. This was our first trip to Skye and it has made us anxious to return.

Our 2nd visit to the Uig hotel and it never disappoints. Great location, good views, clean and cosy accommodation, fab food, friendly service by everyone we met, dog friendly - it has it all. Thank you for another great stay - we will definitely be back.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Such a joy to eat food prepared by a chef who is clearly passionate about food. Bread rolls home made, all food beautifully prepared and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended. The chef is a credit to this place and lovely waiting staff too.

We have been in Uig on a number of occasions, though we have never stayed at the Uig hotel before but we definitely will again. As this was our silver wedding anniversary we we hoping that everything would be perfect and I have to say we were not disappointed by our stay here. A warm friendly welcome, informative, mannerly and pleasant. Our room was beautiful and absolutely spotless! A huge thank you to the cleaning staff who had prepared our room a little earlier than usual for us. The bathroom as well, spotless. We had booked dinner and again were not disappointed. My wife had filo pastry parcel filled with caramelised onions and z touch of whiskey. My wife who does not much like whiskey declared it delicious. I had haggis again delicious. My wife's main was highland red deer. She has had a few bad experience with venison and has not always enjoyed it. This time however she said it was absolutely delicious and the best she had every tasted having had a wee taste of it myself I could only agree. She was so impressed with it she asked that her compliments be passed to the chef and to also say it was the best venison she had ever eaten. I has sea trout perfectly cooked! The skin was cooked separately and was perfectly crispy. We decided to share the cheese platter. It was served at room temperature with plenty of oatcakes grapes znd homemade quince jam highly recommended Good choice on the wine list. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. Friendly knowledgeable service. Breakfast was again, excellent. My wife had a full Scottish and her only aside comment was she would have preferred square sausage as opposed to links. I had gorgeous porridge with blueberry compote. I'm a salt porridge man myself but this was delightful. All together a brilliant sray znd we most certainly visit again. Highly recommended

I’ve already raved about the beautiful food in the restaurant so now onto the hotel. Sea view perfect as are most views on the island, but I had to point out that from my window you can actually see the sea. cleanliness exceptional, I can say this as I dropped something at the back of a cupboard which when I moved it to retrieve item not a speck of dust. Bed was so comfy I didn’t want to get up. Facilities spot on. I was in a single room with the largest single bed ever. Room was spacious nicely decorated simple and classy, ample storage space for clothes etc. The compact bathroom was spotless with a great shower plenty of room to move (easily fit two large people in.) I am on the large size width ways anyway so shower was perfect. Had waterfall shower head as well as ordinary shower head. So suits for everyone, I do love a bath however waterfall shower next best thing. (I was made aware that there was no bath in this particular room before arrival) All The staff were brilliant welcoming friendly helpful, from the ladies making up the rooms to the reception, bar and restaurant staff a special thank you to Helen on reception who went above & beyond. Food excellent (see separate review on restaurant) The staff, Noel, restaurant are not only a credit to the village but to the entire island.
