We stayed here for 2 nights and Margo was a very welcoming and helpful host. Our twin room was lovely and clean and the whole b&b was decorated to a high standard. And great views of the harbour. Breakfast was nice enough but limited choice as we dont like cooked breakfasts. The mattresses were awful to be honest, we both tossed and turned all night, you can feel the springs digging in your back and the duvet and pillows were all feather. Not great if your asthmatic or eczema sufferers, which we both are and on the first night we were kept awake by boy racers outside at 1-3am which brings down the rating slightly. Not the b&bs fault but it's very off putting.

We stayed here for two nights during our tour with Highland Explorers. Margo was sweet as can be from the moment we met her. She helped my friend carry her bags upstairs and gave a quick 101 on staying. The beds were very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was great after a long day touring. Also, make sure to take advantage of breakfast - Margo can cook! The full Scottish breakfast was delicious and filling. It was about a 10 minute walk to downtown and five to tesco. Definitely recommend. 😄

While on a Highland Explorers Tour, Twenty Seven was our accommodation for 2 nights. I was traveling alone. The room was fine, clean on the small side but no bother. I cannot address the breakfast as I did not partake. (this will be explained.) While I was FaceTiming with my granddaughter in the States , who BTW, are 6 hours behind me, there was a knock on the door. It was the owner Margo telling me that I was too loud and to get off my phone. She did not politely ask me to lower my voice, or go outside. She was extremely rude and short tempered. I was ( love this word) gobsmacked. I replied ok and got off the phone. I was awake the entire night . I would not even turn on the TV as I was afraid it would be too loud. When I sought her out in the morning to skip breakfast as I was not feeling well, she started in on me again. I tried to find other lodging for the 2nd night but everything was booked. When I returned that evening she immediately came up to my room. This version of Margo was nice. However I did not want anything to do with her. I declined breakfast theme t day and did not talk on my phone or us the TV. If she would have apologised for her rudeness and awful customer service, all would have been forgiven. However she did not that. Hence the terrible review. Be warned— I would not send my worst enemy to this lodging.

Response from Margo Maclean, Owner at Twenty Seven
Responded 2 weeks ago
Guests were awoken by exuberant telephone conversations to the USA in the early hours of the morning over 2 nights. (First morning until 2am, second morning 5am). The Hebrides are certainly worthy of the excitement, but courtesy needed to be extended to others who were trying to sleep.

My boyfriend and I were travelling through Lewis when our camper broke down, we had to find a quick b&b for the night & luckily 27 was round the corner. Margo couldn’t have been more inviting and helpful, we were able to get checked in straightaway. Rooms and bathrooms were spotless & we were given breakfast in the morning. Brilliant value for money. If ever in Stornaway again will be paying a visit :)

Margot is a lovely host very friendly and kind. Accommodation very good, extremely clean, very comfortable and contemporary decor. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Great location for shops ferry etc . Free parking on road outside. Tea and coffee in room and wee dram of whiskey on arrival waiting for you, a nice touch.
