I have rated this 1 out of 5 as I can’t upload it as 0. Short notices booked what was described as double room DB&B with a mountain view - what I got was a ground floor room with a view of the car park and a tree next to the dining facility. The staff were great and reception offered me an alternative room with a garden view but this was even smaller and with a tiny window. Have had so much high expectations for this place as have looked at this on numerous occasions and thought we would try it tonight after being in Dingwall most of the day. Will not return. Now happily sat in the Kincraig hotel.
From the moment you walk in, it's a warm and friendly welcome. The staff can't do enough for you. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Our room is clean, warm and spacious. The bathroom is modern and spotless. We will definitely book another stay here.
Having stayed at another Strathmore hotel, the Ben Nevis in Fort William, on our tour, we were somewhat concerned before we arrived. We needn't have been, as this is a different category of hotel, despite being rated the same and part of the same group. The hotel does need some attention in places - any hotel of this size needs constant attention, and indeed there was work going on, although it didn't impact us. The reception staff were excellent, and efficient. Our room (an upgrade) was spacious and clean, with a lovely bathroom. We had booked DB&B so ate in the hotel - very nice food in comfortable surroundings - a large high ceilinged restaurant. Covid restrictions still remain in Scotland (I am glad to say) so I suspect it would be even better under normal circumstances. The bar was spacious and comfortable and the barman very friendly and efficient Overall, a good base to tour from and to return to after a long day…
A lovely and welcoming hotel. Our room was front facing looking up to Ben Wyvis. A little dated but very clean. Tea and coffee making facilities were well stocked. Meals were all good/excellent. Breakfast had a vast choice of cereals and hot food. Staff were helpful and cheerful even though we witnessed some guests being rude and unreasonable. Covid creates awkward times but there is no need to be rude to others. Lift available if required. Thank you for a lovely 6 night stay, all staff have done this hotel proud.
We stayed here overnight last week and it represented great value with a really good breakfast in a stunning dining room. The room was very clean and really comfortable. Previously we enjoyed a bar meal here which was very good.
