This is a big, old hotel. It was all we could find so we decided to take a punt on it. Reception, very kind, friendly and professional. We had a family room. Room 12. First impression, big room, big bed, glorious view, with a separate room for children. However, there is also dirty windows, curtains and a shower curtain I wouldn’t touch -not the best. The same bathroom suite my parents had in the 70s with the same odd green colour. Bathroom floor not particularly clean. The shower is mainly broken, spraying water everywhere with almost no power at all. Tried to give my daughter a bath, lots of black bits (mould?) in the water, see photo. The cork headboard is something else, sorry I had no posters to pin up from this week’s copy of Smash Hits. The mix and match furniture is forgivable because of the gorgeous view. Probably the biggest surprise is that there is no tv in the room. It’s 2021! Come on. It’s ridiculous! £130 and no telly?!?! There is a big cupboard where a tv should be, but I couldn’t tune it in to watch Euro2020. I slept very well although the bed springs creak very loudly when you move on the door side of the bed. Breakfast was plentiful, table service due to Covid. Had problems getting served, the porridge was watery, the coffee was cold, the tea pot couldn’t be poured from without spilling and the toast didn’t arrive. Continental breakfast very good, cooked breakfast tasty. Dinner has quite an ambitious menu and the meal I had was very good. However, the children’s meal at TWELVE POUNDS was incredibly expensive for chicken in batter with chips. It was also difficult to get attention to order another drink or indeed pay. Plentiful parking in front of the hotel, across the main road. All experiences with staff members very positive.

Excellent location but very run down and poor food. The hotel is right on the banks of the loch and has a great outlook. However the rooms are dated and the restaurant really needs an upgrade. The main road outside needs. Speed camera to stop the speeding NC 500 drivers

We ate in the restaurant and the food choices were something from the 1980's it is advertised as a sea food restaurant but there was no sea food dishes available at all. The decor too was very dated and there was zero atmosphere .Food was mediocre and over priced. We had asked for a reservation for 8pm but told they could only accommodate us at 6.15 as they were sooooo busy with a big party arriving. at 7pm. In a huge restaurant area there were only four tables used the whole time we were there with a total of eight people being served. How can any restaurant think that is busy! Perhaps if they had more staff they would feel they could cope with more guests!

The location is great with a huge parking in front of the hotel with a wonderful view. The hotel was okay, old school but clean (the most important part). The restaurant was amazing, big portions and very tasty. The staff was very kind.

Stayed here for one night, touring the highlands. It is a nice building in a lovely location with lots of car parking. With all that going for it , it could have been wonderful but was in fact was a bit disappointing and I am not surprised that reviews are mixed. The food was pretty awful and we refused to pay anything for the evening meal, something I cannot remember ever having done before. In fairness our refusal to pay was readily accepted and we were given an apology. Our rooms were a bit run down, not terribly, but I cannot think of another hotel I have stayed in recent years with no TV in the room. Not a big factor for us. The bathwater etc was, as other have mentioned, discoloured, which is a bit disconcerting. On the upside the bar was really nice and young staff there very helpful and friendly
