About

Travellers' Choice
The Kylesku Hotel is set in the true Scottish Highland wilderness. Wherever you look, it will be calling you. Our aim is simple, showcase the ingredients the area has to offer, simply cooked. Our shellfish is fished sustainably and responsibly. We like our Scallops hand dived and our prawns/langoustines creel caught. The Kylesku started its life as a small inn back in the 1680s. Tanja & Sonia purchased the wee place late 2009, and have since created a restful, soulful place for you to use as a base to explore Sutherland & the North West Coast of Scotland. You might be driving the NC500, discovering the bird life or enjoying a grand walk. You will be welcomed even if you have been camping for 2 weeks! There will be a crispy fish and chips, a warming spicy vegetable curry or even a rare breed steak with your name on it. The bar is well stocked with local gins and whisky, a good ale and a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Open for breakie, lunch and dinner. Just come in!

We had the most relaxing and enjoyable stay despite the pouring rain. Our room,11, was in the Annex but very close by and we had a balcony and superb view. I am a bit Scandi and felt very much at home with the ambience and decor. The owners were very welcoming as were all the staff. A lot of midges and rain precluded our sitting out but we had the benefit of a sea view at dinner and enjoyed watching the local seal perform for us at sundown. Very glad for the show as we waited 90 minutes for our food after ordering whilst the table next door, who arrived at the same time as us, had past their dessert and were on to coffee by the time it came. Since it was the most delicious scallops we forgave them even though they would have taken a few minutes max to cook. Breakfast superb Very sorry to leave but will be back ASAP

Having stayed at the Kylesku Hotel in the past couldn’t resist returning during this summer of staycationing. Any concerns that Covid might undermine the experience quickly put to rest. A warm welcome from Simone and his team got my wife and I off to a great start. The location is wonderful and even though I had been there before the setting took our breaths away again. Seals visible from the restaurant is something I will always enjoy. Excellent food and wines and the staff worked tirelessly to minimise the impact of Covid. Rooms simple and comfortable. Weather was amazing on this trip and will return again at some point in the future.

Both the food and service were excellent. Pre booked the restaurant for lunch. Had the Fish Supper. The fish was cooked perfectly, the batter amazingly crispy. Lemon posset for dessert, beautiful and smooth. Our waitress was engaging and genuinely interested in talking to us. A really lovely young woman from Berwick. The rest of the FOH team were friendly and welcoming too. We have eaten here before and this visit lived up to our expectations. Thank you

What an amazing place. Great service from the second we walked in. Such friendly staff and a superb venue with lovely views. The drinks menu was extensive, with recommendations for what worked best with which meals. All of the food that came out looked amazing but we went for bisque, followed by lobster and the fish special. Had to have deserts as everything had been so lovely, so opted for profiteroles and sticky toffee pudding. Followed by whisky (I tried, but it’s just not me), a hot gin cocktail and roobois. Will definitely be back 😃

We just ate at the restaurant. The view over the loch was amazing and the food was perfect. We'd heard the seafood was excellent and it certainly did not disappoint. The scallops were superb. Very friendly staff.
