Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Hotel Verde Cape Town Airport is frequently commended by guests for its commitment to eco-friendliness, with particular appreciation for its natural pool and picturesque gardens. Its proximity to the airport and complimentary shuttle service are popular among travelers, despite its industrial surroundings. The staff's efficiency and friendly demeanor contribute to the hotel's relaxing atmosphere, and while the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and comfort, occasional mentions of smoke odor and plumbing issues arise. While most guests believe the hotel provides good value, a few have raised concerns over the pricing and payment processes.

New rooms, very nice and comfortable, well cleaned and quite soundproofed because we did not experience the annoyance of aircraft. We also tried the restaurant and it was all really great. Free shuttle service to/from the airport very efficient. Highly recommended.

If you need to stay at an airport close to Cape Town International airport - this is the one. You can see the airport from the upper floors of the hotel! Great business hotel and also good for leisure travellers and the rooms are bigger than some I have stayed in the centre of Cape Town! But what is really cool is that it very much deserves the title of Africa’s Greenest / most eco / most sustainable hotel. The pool is natural spring water from the spring on the grounds and is filtered by both a filter and plants planted around the pool (no shallow end so not suitable for children) - so no chemicals. And the garden and winding path and outdoor gym - amazing. It also has a short stay (4 hours or 6 hours or 8 hours between 9 am and 8 pm) for when you need a desk / shower / bed / get away from it all. Free shuttles to and from the hotel and a paid for shuttle to go into the centre of Cape Town. Definitely staying here again the next time I come through Cape Town!

Apart from cut on my wrist caused by the strong door closure, my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel and the helpful staff. When the incident with the lift doors occurred the front desk staff were extremely caring. The Chef was also attentive and cleaned the wound and applied a gauze bandage. Finally I do believe the doors to the lifts should be adjusted so they open easily when someone is trapped as I was when trying to keep the doors open.

The hotel itself is okay. A little overpriced for what it is, but I thought we were buying safe and convenient access to the airport for a flight. (We had a 30-hour layover in Cape Town.) The hotel shuttle (which comes every 30 minutes) is located a fair walk from the main part of the airport in a dark, covered public parking lot. When we found the sign for the shuttle, we were harassed by men in yellow vests claiming to be associated with the hotel. They would not take "no thanks" for an answer when we told them we didn't want to ride with them to the hotel. (Apparently, they sit there regularly and charge tourists like R 700 to drive people the 400 meters to the hotel instead of taking the free shuttle.) To the hotel's credit, when we called to ask them to send the shuttle sooner, they did right away. However, the staff at the hotel seemed unconcerned that people unassociated with the hotel are attempting to rip off their guests (at best) or rob/rape/assault them (at worst.) They told me "Oh, those are just Uber drivers." (They were not licensed Uber drivers.) It frankly called into question for me the general security standards of the hotel. They should have hotel staff at the airport to ensure that guests have safe transportation. Or at the very least, warm people about the "Uber" drivers that apparently regularly wait next to their signage. Oh, and multiple members of our family got sick there. I suspect it's from their water. As part of being "green," they don't even have filtered plastic bottles for sale. They provide glass bottles filled by the hotel, so there's no standard for how they are filtering it. It could just be Cape Town tap water for all I know.

Dear Kate We thank you for taking time to rate your recent visit to Hotel Verde Cape Town Airport, we are truly grateful for your feedback and if there is absolutely anything that we could perhaps do in order make your stays more comfortable then please do not hesitate to reach out to the Verde Team as we strive daily to ensure and continuously improve service excellence to our guests. We have taken note of your harassment at the airport by taxi drivers, however take note that we provide a safe, convenient and complimentary shuttle from the airport to our hotel, we cannot control the behavior of the persons within the airport, this area is completely and utterly out of our jurisdiction, all hotels collect from one point at the airport - as this is the only point where we are permitted to pick up guests, once again this area does not belong to us. Please kindly be advised that the reason for us using glass bottles of water to serve guests is the most sustainable practice, these bottles are sterilized and utilized again with zero waste to the environment, we can promise you fervently that the water is filtered and purified and is most definitely NOT tap water. Warmest regards The Hotel Verde Team

Excellent location by the airport, provides pick up shuttle! They even sent a shuttle to pick us up outside of regular shuttle hours (we arrived after midnight)! Very helpful and friendly staff! The rooms are clean and comfortable! The onsite garden was a most beautiful surprise! We walked it everyday! It also has an outdoor gym! They truly live up to their word of being “the greenest hotel in all of Africa” in all aspects of their operations: energy (geothermal, wind, and solar), water conservation, recycling, etc. The indoor gym even has exercise equipment that uses human energy to generate electricity! We appreciated a nice service they provide of taking the extra clothes we had to donate to charity! The location by the airport is very convenient but if you are taking a tour, make sure the tour operator can pick you up at the hotel as some of the less reputable ones do not pick up outside of downtown Cape Town! The nice thing is that the hotel works with some excellent local tour guides! When a tour operator cancelled on us last minute, the hotel concierge was able to very quickly arrange a private tour for us which was fantastic!

Hotel Verde is well worth a stay if you're looking for something close to the airport - well-run, planet-conscious in every aspect – a surprising little oasis in the heart of the airport industria. And it lives up to its claim as the "greenest hotel in Africa". Highly recommended.

Everything went smoothly from initial booking to the airport shuttle on exit. Reception efficient, room mainly pleasing - but flush mechanism on the toilet was damaged; drain slope in the shower poor - quiet, clean well equipped and comfortable. Breakfast early and lots of good choices. Reasonable value so would use again next time.

If you are flying from far away and you're landing at night, do yourself a favour and just book yourself into the hotel. They have dedicated transport that pick you up at the airport, that runs every 30 min until 1am I believe. It's a fantastic hotel and it made my travelling and trip so much easier. I wish they had a Hotel Verde in town, I would have booked there as a follow up, checking out of the hotel the next morning. Service was amazing and it made me miss South Africa that much more! I will definitely book with them again.

For (international) travellers it is nice that there is a hotel at the airport (a.g. shuttlebus 2 minutes). But at the same time the hotel is only functional when coming in late or departing very early. There is no other reason in staying here. With that in mind a rate of EUR 160,00 per night (one person) seems not appropriate.

Breakfast has a great variaty, but the area of serving is (too) small, especially at busy times. Quality of the food is a bit off at some points; overripe melon and way undercooked bacon.

Suggestion for the hotel: improve the shuttle bus signing at the airport. Make sure people simply can't go wrong on that (you don't want to search after a long International flight and a passport control that toon like forever).

There is a shuttle service but it only runs until midnight I think. If you take a taxi use Uber. The paid taxi service from airport quoted us a much greater fee than Uber. And Uber is easy to get. Just head to the pick up point at the airport once you've ordered your ride. Uber all around CT is great.

Our room did not include breakfast, but I believe you can book a breakfast-inclusive room for a higher rate. The buffet breakfast was a flat rate, depending on whether you had continental or hot breakfast. We had a normal double room---not sure about the size of a studio.

Good day, What are yout plans? Do you want to stay at this hotel for a couple of days and do different tours every day? If this is the case, I would rather stay at a place more centrally situated, from where you can walk to shops & restaurants, as there is nothing of interest close in this area I would only stay at this hotel the day before an early departure from the airport, as it is conveniently situated. I would then make use of Uber, or a taxi, to get me to and from this hotel. The hotel will be able to provide you with contact numbers.

Dear Traveler Thank you for contacting us. We serve a delicious breakfast buffet daily from 4h30 am to 10h30 and the cost is R185.00 per person. To book is preferable and the breakfast rate is usually included in the room rate, should you be staying with us. Many thanks, hope to welcome you soon.
