We really enjoyed our time at Double Tree. We spent a 4 day weekend there to celebrate our twin boys 14th birthday. The room was pet friendly, as we travel with our 3-year-old Boxer, and it was very clean. Beds were super comfy. You can't go wrong with any room as all seem to have a nice view. Even ours on the first floor was great! All the staff we dealt with were cordial and professional. We had one meal at the restaurant on site and we thought the food was good. We loved the green space in between the buildings. Even though the whole complex is large, it felt very homey and relaxing. We will definitely be coming back here!
I was a bit concerned about staying here after reading several of the negative reviews. Thankfully, we experienced the total opposite. We stayed in the Palmetto building. The rooms were roomy, comfortable and clean. We had a nice ocean view room. The breakfast menu is small but the food was prepared very nicely. We received excellent service from the staff. Thank you Jessie, Bee, Shane, Brian & Tammy for making our stay so much better. The front desk staff were all very friendly and polite. There are several pools, all very nice and clean. We had no issues with beach or pool towels. There were always available. The beach is just a short walk away and with easy access. Some of the reviews mentioned the planes going by. But, actually we found it quite cool to see how close they flew over us. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and I'm glad we didn't listen to the negative reviews. Will definitely stay here again.…
Lets start with the fact I haven't visited Myrtle Beach in 20 years. I was excited to visit. We always stay at Hilton for all our travels and my husbands work trips. I really have enjoyed how clean Home to Suites are and the Double Tree in Orlando Sea World location for cleanliness. I read reviews after we booked at this location and decided to give it a shot. We stayed June 4th and left early June 8th due to the experience. We booked a handicap corner room with balcony only because of the space and a family of 4. We thought it would be a nice upgrade and get a better experience. Walking into the room we found nasty carpet, moldy shower curtain and pealing paint in bathroom. After requesting a new shower curtain the same day and not receiving one by evening the next day I took it down to the front desk myself. We then received a replacement the following evening. So yes we showered without a curtain. The lazy river area is dirty and tired. We found the newer building and lobby is what the property should have reflected , but lacked the luster. This location is like our experience in Daytona not good. Two resort style hotels we paid top dollar for and wont be back.…
I will say, the beach and location to the beach is perfect; other than the fact that you have to rent the beach chairs. The first disappointment of the stay was paying extra on Priceline for an “oceanfront view” with photos of a direct oceanfront view from a balcony. Upon check in my partner and I were informed that it was a “partial ocean view,” and that we’d have to pay even more to legitimately get the direct view of the ocean. We agreed, that’s what we were there for. The worst part of the stay? Waking up after the first night and finding what appeared to be rodent feces on the carpet. The stay only got better when the women at the desk said maybe it was from a dog from a previous guest (as if that’s still acceptable), and she’ll just get housekeeping to clean it when we step out. We understandably wanted a different room, the fecal matter was not there when we arrived, I’d say thats pretty concerning. We get downgraded from a king sized bed to a queen and only get our “hotel fees” removed, still paying over 1k for 3 nights of an outdated “resort” that had literal crap on the stained carpet and cigarette butts on the balcony. There’s plenty of options on Myrtle Beach, it’d highly recommend you spend your money elsewhere.…
Poor quality for a Hilton property. When we arrived, no indication of where to check-in…frustrating after a 5 hour drive. No help to be found anywhere. All the glass and mirrors in the room were cleaned with a dirty rag….streaks on everything…you could write messages on them. You could tell there were children there previously….cookies and crumbs in the ice bucket. The bathroom was ridiculous…you have to step in and close the door to get to the sink behind the door. There were cracks in the floor tiles and around the tub. The carpet was filthy and had an odor. The sofa looked like it was picked up from a curb…sitting in the middle sank you way down. The pools were dirty (and there is no jacuzzi). The property is in desperate need of renovations!!!!! Very disappointed 😩 Not worth the cost.…
This place needs a major renovation. As a Diamond member, I've stayed at many Hilton/Doubletree properties and this one ranks at the bottom- for me. The lobby was clean and inviting, so I was hoping the room would mimic the lobby. It did not. Our room was in the Live Oak building. Walking to the room, I felt like it resembled a cheap motel from the outside and wondered if we'd be safe. Inside the room was the biggest disappointment. Just rip the carpet up, all the way up! It's quite gross. I was so thankful I had my Lysol with me. The walls had patch paint jobs. The color is pretty, but the walls could stand a fresh coat of paint. The beds and linen were clean. Actually, the bed was quite comfortable (probably the best thing in the room). The bathroom/sink set up in rooms with double beds is super weird and stupid. The sink is in the room instead of in the bathroom. So, if you're traveling with family or have an early riser they're going to wake everyone up in the room- when they brush their teeth, wash their hands, etc. The bathroom floor wasn't mopped well either. I could see remnants of hair/trash that the housekeeper forgot to sweep and mop up during the turnover clean. The good: the room is more spacious than most and the view was pretty from our room. The hotel sits in a good location at the end of Ocean Blvd, but still very close to many things to do! They are building a new hotel next door. For the price and for "resort" to be in the name, would've loved for beach chairs & umbrellas to be included in the price. They're $40 a day.…
My wife and I spent a long weekend here to celebrate our anniversary. We have stayed and many DoubleTree hotels and this one was by far the worse. The location was great (right on the beach), but the rooms are in dire need of major renovation. We didn't have towels in the room after we checked in and the bathtub and sink wouldn't drain. We were very disappointed and will never stay there again.
Room not clean. Found a dirty washcloth left on the shower curtain--which tells me that all the housekeeper did was put in fresh linen--no way the washcloth would be missed if shower had been cleaned. Floor dirty when wiped with towel. Asked to be switched to a different room the next day. It was a little cleaner with a better view of the ocean. Furniture is old and needs to be replaced. Sofa sagged when we sat on it. Online photos are misleading. The building we stayed is not the one that they show online. Not the worth the money we paid for it.
stayed at the Doubletree over memorial day weekend, the hotel is nice with a great view from every room but could use some updating in the rooms. overall i had no major complaints except when I tried to extend my trip by a day the person at the front desk had no idea how to do it.
Location was great. Right on the beach with good ocean view. The room was sufficient. The living area was large enough. The bathroom was ridiculously small, needed some maintenance like recaulking tub but the biggest issue was the door swings in so it is hard to maneuver inside. You have to open the door all the way, squeeze by the toilet and door then close the door to get to sink. I was impressed with the food at the restaurant. Everything we had, wings, pork belly tacos, brussel sprouts, hush puppies and Greek flatbread were all delicious. We had excellent service from Danny. He was awesome! If I was still in a position to hire people I would have recruited him to work for me! Beach chairs/umbrellas are setup in front of hotel on the beach. They are not associated with the hotel. It would be nice if there was an agreement to charge to your room.,.better yet make it a luxury of the resort fees. Speaking of Resort fees. RESORT FEES are ridiculous. Extra money paid for no services used. Just another way for the hotel to make a buck.…
