What a delight to re-visit Skytop and see its weathered the pandemic and re-emerged strong and beautiful. The rooms and halls were recently redone. Everything sparkled. The grounds and flower gardens were beautifully maintained and they added bees -near the butterfly house and hummingbird arden: you can buy their honey in the shop. We saw a bald eagle soar over the lake. e watched the sparkling stars in the night sky. Stood on the rooftop lookout and saw for miles. We booked a variety of three rooms for two nights each. The 'suite' (#316) was a large corner room with a couch and direct view of the lake and mountains. Pre-arrival roses ad choc covered strawberries were luxe, best we've seen. Bathroom was as tiny as an Amtrak train; no grab bars and barely fit one person. Neither standard guest room had a chest of drawers. There are no longer walking sticks in the closet which we miss but one can buy them in the gift shop. There are full length mirrors on the back of the closet door and in rom coffee. Plan your activities around naturalist guide (and Poconos TV celebrity author) Rick Koval's hikes or kayak tours. He's a treasure of fun facts and deep outdoor knowledge. The guided family lake kayak tour was a standout. Also rented canoes and fishing gear for a lazy afternoon. Rented bikes for a hilly ride but there are flat trails too. 5,500 acres so hikes for all activity levels. The shuttle takes you all over the resort and the drivers are warm and informative. Best bell staff in the business from warm welcoming arrival to departure. Food and service in the Windsor dining room was excellent with new vegan option (try the sweet potato Wellington). Staff is well-trained. Breakfast buffet was varied. Skip the quiche or eggs and head straight to the omelet bar. Family bingo is old fashioned hilarious fun. The rock climbing wall was challenging and the adventure center well run. The vibe is classic but laid back. We miss the traditional "Grand March" on Saturday but understood why it's not back yet. Sitting n the adirondack chars on the porch with coffee or a drink is sublime. The front desk will give you marshmallows and a stick for the nightly firepit. The pools (indoor/outdoor/hot tub) were immaculate, refreshing and well-stocked. No lifeguards so be careful with small children or non-swimmers. The service at the Lakeside dining room i the Gold Inn was not polished as at the lorge, but the food was excellent. The pro shop had a great selection of apparel. Requesting that Skytop add stand up paddleboards to its equipment choices Only disappointment? We were celebrating a big birthday and asked in advance that the GM stop by to greet our guest at dinner. That never happened which was a disappointment. Reservations staff is excellent and patient (thanks Jamie.) Housekeeping is industrious and detail oriented (thanks Gloria.) Flower shop has well=priced gits and arrangements. Thanks Lauren) Need to come back for a longer trip as we ran out of time for all the things we wanted to do. The weekend are outstanding but also a great destination for a midweek break to reset. (We also observed several weddings which were breathtaking.) Glad to be back and look forward to more visits this summer.

In place of our originally planned trip to Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic, we decided to plan a last minute trip to the Skytop Lodge in the Poconos. It’s like the next best thing, right? All kidding aside, we were happy to be able to travel somewhere and feel somewhat comfortable in the COVID environment. We could drive in a reasonable time, restaurants were at a 25% capacity and reservations were required, and there were miles of trails to hike in solitude. We requested an early check in if available and arrived at 2pm, an hour before check in to find our room ready to go. We decided on the Deluxe King Inn Room. This is down the property from the main lodge, around a 7 minute walk. These rooms are located where the Golf Pro Shop is as well as the Lakeside Restaurant. We were a bit turned off at the amount of people in the area, but were told that there was a golf tournament and they should be leaving shortly. Sure enough, an hour or two later and it was empty. The food was better than we expected it was going to be.  We ate dinner at the Windsor Restaurant the first night. We both had the filet with potatoes and carrots. It had an Almond and Bacon dust on top and it was delicious. The second night was Lakeside Restaurant. I had Pistachio crusted Swordfish and my wife had Crab Cakes. We were both a bit full from the complimentary Cookies and Lemonade offered at 4pm each day, but managed to enjoy it anyway.  We like to eat! The next morning we woke up and had a buffet breakfast at Windsor. It was our first experience with a COVID buffet.  They show you the food which is all behind glass, and will fill up your plate for you.  This is something we are not a fan of that much as we like to pick our food.  We like the crispy Bacon!!! We then went back to our room and loaded up for the hiking.  Had a 25lb camera bag with my gear. 14 miles of trails, climbing, and waterfalls, we were back and exhausted. It was nice to see that the trails were clearly marked and obvious in which direction to go.  The downside is after all that mileage, I hardly saw any animals or birds to photograph.  Pretty disappointing :(

Not a bad place but they do not treat there guests correctly. You need to book dining reservations for breakfast and dinner. Getting ahold of the dining reservations is a chore in its self. Every time you think they answered they hang up on you! Then you get attitude and yelled at because the girl can't hear. I think her name is Tanshia, I'm not too sure something with a T. She was very rude, yelling at me when I asked a question, and she kept hanging up on me. I don't recommend this place at all because of her!

Loved almost everything about Skytop Lodge. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and clean. The hotel itself was just beautiful, everywhere you looked there were arrangement after arrangement of fresh flowers. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. They had a wonderful guitar player in the lobby on Saturday night. Just perfect to sit back after dinner and enjoy a cocktail in front of the fore after dinner! The only drawback I saw, and it really depends on your level of covid phobia, was we didn't see any additional cleaning efforts underway. There was hand sanitizer provided everywhere and everyone had masks on but we didn't see anyone wiping down door knobs, hand rails and door push plates. Breakfast in the Windsor room was fantastic each day. We enjoyed dinner in the taproom but would skip the Lakeview restaurant next time. Dinner was just ok.
