We liked our stay in DVM! It’s located almost outside Canggu, but actually it’s great because you surrounded with greens and you can walk to the beach. The road is almost empty, but you can use shortcuts to quickly get to the central part of Canggu. We liked our morning views with rice paddies and mountains on the horizon either when it’s sunny and raining. The staff is really helpful and took care of every request we had. Thanks so much for everything :-)
A charming and quiet place to relax and enjoy beautiful sunsets. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The property is super-clean and the view in the rooms is breathtaking on both sides. I would recommend this place to anyone travelling to Bali.
DVM (like they call themselves as per their internet address) is a great choice if you like to be close to Canggu and it's hip surf and excellent dining/bars (La Brisa!!!!) but yet want to be a bit more upmarket (European style quality rooms and Italian restaurant) and quiet. On top of that the views are just stunning!!
Our family stayed for 1 night and I wouldn’t recommend staying longer than that without your own car/motorbike as transport. Part of the appeal is that this resort is quite isolated but it also means that taxis don’t pickup from there. The room was amazing with great views of the rice fields. The restaurant has great food and there are cows on the walk towards the beach which the kids loved. This beach would not be suitable for kids to swim though. The gym has new weights and the whole resort was well maintained. I was a little disappointed when at the buffet breakfast I was asked if I could pay for half of my eggs as I must have ordered more than my quota.
It is a bit out of the way, surrounded by rice paddy fields, but this is part of the charm. No noise from beach clubs, traffic, mopeds, dogs or cockerels! It is a couple of minutes from the beach, and Pererenan, Canggu, Echo Beach & Old Man's can be reached by walking east along the beach. There are also short cuts through the paddy fields on scooter paths, a 10 minute stroll taking you through to Pererenan Road, which is the most westerly, less busy & commercial street, with a good selection of cafes & small restaurants. You will find good Balinese massage spas here too- Our 7 day stay was wonderful - we had a ground floor 1 bedroom apartment, it was very clean & modern- we will definitely be back. Please note there is no lift to the upper stories. We ate in most nights....That said, the Italian chef seemed to be missing, but the food was ok. The menu is limited, adding sautéed vegetables would be good! All the staff were so helpful & gracious. The local drivers they arranged for us were a little more expensive than cabs, but their clean, well maintained 6 seater vehicles with functioning air conditioners were a blessing in the heat during the drives in the Bali traffic- we felt happy leaving our luggage with these drivers whilst out on day tours. Although it is only about 10km out from the main town of Denpasar, it is a 50 minute trip on a Sunday. We were warned by different drivers that the trip to the airport on a Monday at 3 pm can take 3 and up to 6 hours... Tour groups don't seem to mind picking you up out in the rice paddys- I found contacting companies through WhatsApp got the best results. …
