My husband and I stayed the weekend in the Paymaster’s Cottage. We had such a relaxing time! The room is lovely, with a wonderful tub, king-sized bed, and kitchenette. There is a table and chairs outside the cottage and we sat out there for many hours, just listening to the wolves howl and watching the wildlife. The breakfast was delivered to us each day and Dawn accommodated my lactose-free needs. The French toast was delicious! We maximized our time on the grounds and if I visit again (I hope to!), I would bring food and never drive off the site. This is not just a bed and breakfast but an experience as well. To hear those wolves, one pack at a time, join in a communal howl - well, no words can describe it. It is music to heal the soul. I have adopted Maka - I’ll try to come back soon to see her again!…
We stayed at the Paymaster’s Office for a weekend staycation - our only wish was that we could stay longer! Everything was immaculately cleaned, the inn keeper was extremely accommodating for dietary restrictions… and there were several times we could just listen to the songs of the wolves at the sanctuary. We will absolutely be coming back again!
I hadn't read any of the reviews before I made plans to stay here - my sister wanted to spend the weekend at the wolf sanctuary so I made it happen. I could not have been happier. From check-in to check-out, the staff was absolutely amazing, like staying with my best friends. The breakfast was really, really good. We stayed in the Paymaster's Office, which was absolutely amazing - it's so gorgeous, richly appointed, the king-size bed had a mattress that helped us get the best night's sleep we've had in years. There was a creek right behind the cottage, and fall leaves were tumbling all around. We got to do the perimeter walk and see some of the wolves, too. It wasn't quite full moon yet, but we did hear the wolves doing a group howl at one point. I get chills just remembering it. I can't wait to go back!…
From the moment we checked in with Maggie until our departure, our 3 night stay in The Whyte House was amazing! There is nothing quite like sitting on the deck at dawn & dusk and hear the wolves howl. Absolutely beautiful! The cottage is quite cozy & very clean. We also enjoyed our evening perimeter walks of the property to see the wolves. Each one has their own unique personality. My favorite is Maka and the way her whole body shakes in excitement showing off her prize possession of a bone or stick as well as her buddy Akela. My husband's favorite is Yogi. Oh how he made us laugh! Dawn made delicious breakfasts each day as well. We especially loved the baked fruit each morning as well as her baked oatmeal the first morning of our stay. We definitely would love to stay at the Speedwell Forge B&B again very soon! Thank you to all that played a part in making our stay wonderful!…
We stayed in the Whyte House for 4 days. It felt like a home, everyone we came in contact with was absolutely great! This place is cleaner then the fanciest of hotels. The pictures of the Whyte House do not do it justice. The 5 star reviews of this place are all correct but don't take our word for it. You should book now, you won't be dis-appointed. And don't forget to book a tour for the sanctuary while you are here as well!
