I guess you get what you pay for. Reviews about peeling paint, dirty bathroom, spiders etc. are all true. Its also cheap and pet friendly. Check in/ check out very convenient however I was assured I'd get a renovated room which it definitely wasn't.
Our room did not look like the pictures. There were holes in the wall, peeling paint and patches of mould. there was only one chair to sit on for a room with four beds. I didn't use the shower as it was such a grotty room. It is a two star room at best. I paid less at a four star hotel nearby the following night.
Expectations were high because Mittagong is a popular place and customers are discriminatory. I was disappointed because this place was not well cared for, neither did it reflect regular complete cleaning. Mould was present in the shower, dust was thick in the clothes recess and basic maintenance such as oiling hinges to remove rust residue was not apparent. I did not expect 5-star facilities from a 3-star rated place but I expected better than this. We will not return.
The Motel Melrose is located on the highway just before you hit Mittagong central coming from the north. Apparently there are a few renovated rooms, but not ours. Paint was peeling, there was a stale tobacco smell in the room, the light switch to the toilet/shower section was very dodgy, the shower fan sounded like a jet taking off, the carpet was not very clean, the provided towels were very thin and were not dry, the outside corridor to each room was unlit with dark chairs and tables acting as obstacle courses making it pretty hazardous to navigate when there was rain pouring outside. Given all that the motel was extremely good value if you just wanted a quick overnight stay reasonable close to town . I don't thing I will be staying there again.
This place is a real find. The room we stayed in looked way better than the photos online and aside from some surface décor issues like a bit of peeling paint, a few cracked tiles and wonky towels rails, the place looks pretty good inside and out. There’s a lovely garden feel, a bbq area with tables and chairs and our room at least had great self-catering equipment, kettle, toaster, plates, cutlery etc. There were stools to sit inside or a table and chairs outside. The aircon was old but worked well and there was roofline ventilation ensuring a constant flow of fresh air even with the doors and windows closed. If you can overlook some of the general scruffiness, this place is a real find. Be aware they do accept pets in case that’s a problem for you. We didn’t have a pet and the room was spotless according to my travelling companion who has a dust allergy. Definitely worth consideration, great value for money.…
