Another great couple days at bowood a very good course amazing food and friendly staff also unbelievable value! Despite having weeks of rain the course drains really well and all on main greens! We came up for our Christmas golf, usually a weekend event but only 1 round this year. The course played amazingly well for the amount of rain we've had recently. Every hole was played off the grass, not a matt in sight, and the greens were rapid for this time of year. As always, the staff were friendly and welcoming. We managed to get a carvery afterwards, which was top notch, I can't recommend it enough.

Just returned from a one night dinner, breakfast and golf break with 2 friends. The golf course is long, well maintained with some interesting and taxing holes. Staff and helpful and friendly and rooms spacious and clean. Food is superb with good portions and drinks reasonably priced. Definitely a golfing hotel! Weather atrocious so will be back in the summer months if not before

Visited the resort for food in the restaurant. Enjoyed superb meals on both occasions. The carvery especially was absolutely delicious with choice of meats. The roast potatoes were great and the Yorkshire puddings were massive. Staff were very friendly as well.

We went for a quick bite to eat as the food is pretty good and good value. It’s a shame as we own on Juliots Well and would walk over a lot but they don’t allow dogs in the bar. Shame as many on J.W would go if well behaved dogs were allowed as dogs are not allowed to be left unattended in the lodges. Dogs were allowed by the previous owners. The staff are lovely too. The bar manager is particularly nice. Apparently a few members say they’re allergic to dogs. I bet those members don’t avoid all local pubs and cafes that allow dogs tho! Sounds like they just don’t like dogs. Of course the hotel can make their own rules but they are losing out on a lot of trade. I can understand them saying no dogs in the restaurant but just a few tables allocated in a corner of the bar would be so nice. I don’t know why they’re worried about dogs tho as the golfers were behaving like a raucous football crowd!! They were so loud we couldn’t hear ourselves speak! Not great for hotel guests either. We ate our food and left as it was like being in a kindergarten!

Bowood Park knows exactly what they are doing with golf breaks from the hotel staff all the way to the greens keepers. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. As a large group we decided that breakfast on arrival would be a good idea as most of us set off while it was still dark outside. We arrived after 8.30am and breakfast was hot and more importantly plentiful. After we all “fuelled up for the day” it was time to hit the course. Course is in excellent condition in-spite of all the rain we have had recently, firm underfoot and fantastic fast greens. My only tiny tiny grumble is the lack of bins on the course, didn’t see one on the course until the 16th I believe (yes there is on on the first). Lack of bins does seem to be a staple on a lot of courses though. After the round it was in for cold beverages and Bowood has a well stocked and also well run bar. Dinner was the same as our last visit, proper decent, well cooked, well presented tasty food. Could not fault it. Bar after dinner was again on top form. After a few “quiet” drinks we all dispersed ready to rest and recover for the next day’s festivities. Round No 2, woke up to mist on the hills and a dew covered everything but should not of worried, Bowood’s fantastic greens staff “squeegeed” all the greens and moved the pins, hole No 2 was an extremely brutal position where a 4 was a miracle. But credit to them they have made a great and challenging course. Already looking at a return October 24. If I were to have another little grumble it would be the opening of the Pro Shop, our second day a lot of our guys wanted to get buggies and other things all sorted and paid for but there were no staff there until after 8.30am. Not a massive problem but there was no sign saying opening times, a sign would of helped. But besides all of that thank you Bowood for another successful Tuesday and Thursday Roll up Overnight Away trip. We will be back.

One night stay with a group of 22 golfers. Made to feel very welcome by all staff. Room was perfect, quiet and comfortable. Food was very good and service was friendly and courteous. The golf course was in fantastic condition for the time of year and recent weather conditions. Recommended for societies and small groups and couples. On top of all that, it is incredibly good value for money.
