The hotel was spotless. We chose not to pay for more for a room with AC, we had a ceiling fan, the night cooled off and we were very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again if we go back to San Juan.

This hostel is awful. Do not stay here. They are clearly a hotel trying to run some rooms as a hostel but the owners and management have no clue what a hostel actually is. I booked a bed in the dorm for $5USD in person, the description on hostel world is that it has AC and the reviews make you believe that the AC is amazing. There are signs in the dorm that state that staff turn it on from 9pm to 9am so when 10pm rolled around and the room was 36C degrees I asked security what the problem was. He said the AC was not working and was told by reception to leave it off. Reception had left for the day and wouldn’t be back until 7am. The dorm was full and we all were drenched in sweat the entire night. There are no fans in the room either and only a small window but since the room is located in a corner there is no air coming in at all. It was awful. In the morning I spoke with reception who said there was nothing they could do because the room is listed as no AC and that is the reason for the low price. I asked for a refund because I did not want to stay there another night but they have a no refund policy even though they failed to mention that I would be sleeping somewhere with no AC and no fans. I then ran into the owner who said the same and added that no hostels in the world provide fans. Later tonight a few of the people in the dorm and I asked someone else at reception and the man there became almost violent and upset and threatened to call the police on us. He then said he would turn the AC on for us if we would all pay $5USD each. That would be the only way. We kept insisting that on Hostelworld the description says there is AC included in the price of this dorm and even after pulling it up and showing it to them they refused to listen and said it did not matter what it said on Hostelworld because these were the rules.

This place was simply great. The room was clean and had a private bathroom. It is very low priced, located near the beach in the middle of town, and very wonderfully staffed. The view is awesome and the air conditioning worked! I enjoyed my self!

I was happy with the sunset view from the top of the building (brought beer too), and the location was good. The hostel itself did not have friendly vibes and the bed was so soft that you could feel the wood of the bed underneath you. Also, they assigned me the wrong bed so I had to deal with someone else being in it. It didn't take long but it was annoying. The bathroom was disgusting, mud everywhere and very little toilet paper. There were good directions on how to use the hot water though. I would stay here or recommend that you stay here unless you were to get a private room.
