This review is long overdue. I stayed with the Castro family for 3 weeks while studying at San Juan del Sur Spanish School. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and really wish I had known more Spanish while I was there, to be able to converse better. (Algun día...) But the experience was wonderful nevertheless. The house was absolutely lovely, and was in a great location. There are multiple rooms that are rented to visitors, and it was great to overlap with other travelers while also spending time with the family. The grandchildren were so much fun; we often played "ahorcado" (hangman) in Spanish. The food was EXCELLENT. And Lucilla and Lisbania were up before 3:00 am to see me off on my final day.

I stayed with the Castros while studying at San Juan del Sur Spanish School. They are a lovely, friendly family with a nice home. I stayed in the house in a room attached to the kitchen and had a great experience. This is very much a home-stay experience, not a hotel stay. The location of the house is great: just a few blocks to the beach and the market. San Juan del Sur is a relaxed, very safe little town. I just loved it and am going back this winter.
