We stayed at Black Monkey for 4 nights, the only reason we left was our next Hotel was prepaid, we hated to leave. The rooms are simple but clean and the restaurant is simply the best in San Juan Del Sur!! I didn't even know they had a menu until the third night...I lived for the special board...these really are special. A liver pate app in Nica come on really...the best fish n chips in probably 3 countries... Don't even start on the deserts. And the people..Robert and Aga from Poland own and run the place and they are GREAT people who just happen to have the best place around...I miss them already. A little ways out of town..but you will never forget the experience. I would go back to SJDS just to eat there and see them again.
We fell in Love with this place, the people, the food etc... when came in 2017. Just visited in late September 2018 and had an amazing experience. Agnes and Robert are so cool and so friendly. You will enjoy your stay and the restaurant is truly the best you will find. Even now, the Black Monkey is off the beaten path and safe for all visitors. Looking forward to our next visit. Amazing food! Out of the way but worth it. Clean and beautiful surroundings. Owners speak English and menu is great. We had fish cakes, filet mignon and pink marlin and a few beers, sodas and bill was around $30. They are open 12-9, closed wed and thurs. It is also a hotel with nice pool.
