My girlfriend and I had booked a few nights here, very excited by photos we’ve seen prior. Room wasn’t as nice as in photos, sheets were stiff and gritty. The hotel staff was absent, we did see a man once and a while, maybe he was the security but no one spoke English at all. First day the Power went out for 8hrs which is not the hotels fault we understand, but paying to be more secluded in a “boutique” hotel you’d hope there would be some compensation for this, or better communication. Guests just sat in the pitch dark all evening with no water as well. Fans didn’t work in room, so my sick girlfriend at the time had no sleep in a hot room and couldnt charge anything. Very upsetting. Also the screens were wrecked and had many holes so having doors and windows open allowed a lot of bugs in. Of course no mosquito net was provided either. Best thing was the pool and view. Quite the hike up to the hotel, not far from town though. I understand in Nicaragua things like power outages can happen, but price should be lower and cancellation policy should be more flexible for higher priced hotels in these areas. We left after 1 night and lost over 200 dollars because no return could be made. I find Casa Ora (the company of this hotel and others in San Juan del sur) disappointing and expensive for what it delivers.…
What a treat! The place is beautifully built and situated with hilltop views over SJDS. Our bungalow was lovely, though could have had a few more perks for the price (like shampoo, kleenex, etc.). The pool was perfect: clear, clean, and cool. The decks needed more comfortable seating options though. The shared kitchen was great for preparing meals, and was always clean. Though the shared kitchen and shared poolside bathroom should both be stocked with hand soap. The staff (I forget his name) was fantastic, helpful, friendly. Thank you!
Wonderful hotel with great views, amazing view just from the everywhere at the property, complementary breakfast was just delicious, We had a very nice time not only at this hotel but in all the places in Nic
Stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the short walk to town which is worth it for the views! Not the most professional or best service (the employee was hanging out in the hammocks) but the rooms are nice and clean and there seemed to be good security.
everything about the room and house was pretty much exactly as described. the view is amazing and being up the fill provided a much-needed breeze! there was supposed to be complimentary breakfast which we did not receive, nor did we ask for. no concerns about safety, the 24 hour staff is helpful and friendly without making you feel like you are being watched all the time! the rooms do not lock nor were there keys and we were totally ok with that. they were helpful with providing rides down the hill in addition to helping to arrange taxis to and from the border.
