We booked through bringfido.com. When we arrived we were given an apartment. It was spacious, clean, and bright. I have no complaints as we were very comfortable here. It was a weekend getaway to a quaint little town.
I was in town with my fiancé to pick up our marriage license. We needed a room for one night and Hotel Wayne was just a few minutes away from the courthouse. At first we were impressed with the room. Yes it has this “ancient” look to it but we liked it. As we started to settle in and change our clothes, we noticed the room was cold. We thought it would get warmer once the heat came up. We went downstairs to have dinner and thought nothing more of it. Well when we got back, our room was freezing. The heat clearly didn’t come up and because it gets cold at night, our room was freezing. We called the front desk and asked how to turn the heat on as it wasn’t on. We were told that they were aware that our room doesn’t have heat and to look in the corner, there is a space heater for us to use. They said it works really well and would heat up the room well. I thought this was HORRIBLE but my fiancé said it was fine so fine it was. An hour later and the room still wasn’t warm to our standards. Two hours later, the room was warm so we turned the heater off. That was a big mistake! Within a hour, the room was cold. I didn’t feel comfortable going to sleep with a space heater running. I know it may be safe but I just couldn’t sleep knowing that a space heater is running. Anything could happen. This is definitely a fire hazard. Needless to say, I had to turn the space heater back on. Therefore I got hardly any sleep. Moving on… the hotel advertised free parking. This would leave someone to believe there is a parking lot. This is not so. We had to park on the street right in front of the hotel. I usually don’t care if I park on the street or not but why advertise something that isn’t so. Don’t get me wrong, the room was good for the price but let’s be realistic, it gets cold at night in Pennsylvania. Adequate heat should have been provided. This is part of the bare basics.…
My first visit to Honesdale and it is a lovely, quaint town. The only good thing I can say about Hotel Wayne is that it is conveniently located, walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. We were hoping that the historic hotel had been renovated and updated but unfortunately it is just old and run down! The TV stand is the mini fridge. The only place to hang your clothes is a bar attached to the wall. The only light in the bathroom is in the vent fan and the fan itself did not work. There is a plastic shower curtain and the floor and linens were stained with something dark. If the condition of the room wasn't bad enough, the traffic noise went all night long with trucks and motorcycles going by. The window a/c unit did not work. I have stayed in camping cabins that are nicer and not as pricy. We paid $130 a night to add insult to injury. I would never stay there again or recommend to anyone!…
Thought I was checking into an old and charming historic hotel. No, just old. And small. Very small. Had to step beside the toilet to close or open bathroom door. The shower was as small as a phone booth. Nothing IN the room is really true to the time period. The walls were painted blah beige. No couch in room. Curtains just there. Room was clean. But yes, all stairs. No elevator. No bellman. Parking around the back. Do not stay here if you can’t do stairs and carry your own luggage long distances and then upstairs. Check ins must walk through the bar. This place needs to call Anthony Malchiorri who is the only person that could honor this hotel’s history but make it a pleasant stay for guests.
The good The staff were all great The hotel and room was immaculate The hotel was a trip to the past Very comfortable beds The bad no elevator and no bell man a bathroom so small i could touch both walls when i extended my arms
