We also love small, independent inns and this is one. Very comfy beds. Book directly with the hotel rather than a booking site to get a better sense of which rooms are available. Breakfast is at a traditional diner down the block. On site dinner restaurant, the Ridge. Nice base in the northern Poconos
I am a fan of small, independently owned hotels and inns and was excited to stay. The little town is nice and there really isn't any where else nearby for lodging. It was clean, well run, and had been decently renovated. It was very busy. The hotel lost points from me for a number of reasons. First, the walls were so thin I was woken again and again as guests arrived and moved around. I could clearly hear people coughing or moving in their rooms. Our king bed was actually two tired singles pushed together and was very uncomfortable -- and I am not picky about beds. Lastly, they used styrofoam for breakfast. In 2019. For the price, I have stayed in major cities in luxury hotels. If this place was half the price it would have been 5*.
We did a quick get away weekend with friends and booked the hotel just going by the pictures on their website. We love staying at older historic places and let me tell you, we were absolutely ecstatic when we walked into our rooms. They are gorgeous! The new owners have been refurnishing since Oct of 2018 and doing a great job. Beautiful furniture, new paint and Plenty of extra linens! The staff is as nice as can be. Erin at the front desk was very helpful in assisting us with any questions we had. The restaurant staff was exceptional. We plan on going back in the fall!!!
I stayed 2 times. One in January 2019 and December 2018. only one night for both trip. we had to do it. But felt a very good satisfaction. People work at the hotel Belvidere are fantastic! very helpful and joyful. the restaurant on main floor - people work there are very honest and a great atmosphere. the room has fireplace- very good. enjoyed fire frames during watching TV.
Back to the basics with Hotel Belvidere.. had a hard time connecting with them as hotel concierge has limited hours. 12 old school rooms.. blinds that let the street lights shine in and no elevators so if you have luggage..I would suggest you stay on the 2nd floor. Bring your amenities as shampoo and a bar of soap is only available. Parking is curbside out front and you need quarters for the meters...if not..you can park on the side of the hotel for free parking.
