Staff was nice and the hotel very quiet and very clean.
We recommend this hotel.
A parking place was always available. There is free wifi with good signal strength also at the end of the corridors. There are two bars in the nearby (both selling ice-creams) a small bakery shop (only open in the mornings and early afternoons) and a fruit/vegetable stand. Otherwise not much to see near the hotel or in Privlaka. But you will need a car to get to Nin or Zadar (both recommended).
The place where the hotel is located is a shallow bay in the southern part of Privlaka. It is ideal for families with young children because kids can play safely in the water. There is fine sand in the bay so you can walk aroun with naked foot. There is a couple of small sandbars near the promenade which is not covered by water so kids can also play there with their sand toys. The beach is a concrete beach: 3 steps down to the water. No umbrella or sunbed rental offered, however the hotel can provide a limited number of umbrellas free of charge. Sometimes it is worth to lay your towels in the morning (08:00-10:00), so you will have a good place to rest during the day. It is very comfortable that the hotel is 10 meters away from the beach.
Conclusion: Hotel Laguna is a nice hotel, offering well decorated and larger size rooms with AC, free wifi and daily cleaning service, but gastronomic services could be further improved. This is a place mostly recommended for families with young children or elderly people. We spent a very nice and relaxing week here. Our double room with a sofa that can be transformed to a third bed for 2 adults and a 3 years old costed 80 euros per day including half-board, which makes a good value for the money, even with the shortcomings described earlier.
Ideally we would have loved to stay in the Bastion hotel but the cheapest I could ever get a room there was 220 euros which I feel is overpriced and as arriving late it just wasn't worth it.
I also looked at a couple of other option with the Falkensteiner chain who had a couple of options also at about 220-260 euros.
Then there were the guesthouses in the suburbs, with seaview and balconies for 50 euros. We originally had considered the Villa Triana, but in the end we thought we would complromise with The Laguna Hotel - sea view room with balcomy 90 euros.
Well when we arrived our room, though very nice and spacious had a lovely view of a wall and concrete lane that leads to the car park at the side of the hotel.
I asked to be changed to the room i had booked but got little response other that a berse "No rooms with balconies available".
Anyway we had a lovely meal downstairs in the restaurant on right next to the water which was lovely and the service was excellent.
Then the next moring a very strange breakfast which was very sparse with odd coffee, but then the waiter from the last night rushed up and took the vile coffee away from me and offered us cappuchinos and omlettes - which were lovely!
As is the unfortunate practice in so many Croatian hotel check out was before noon - in this case I think it was 11 which was so much better than the usual 10 am boot out!
Off we went, happy enough, disappointed about not being given the sea view/balcony room promised and a bit disappointed that the shot of the hotel is really a lot more glamerous than it is in reality.
Value wise I would have been happier paying 65 or 70 euros for the room, but then Croatian hotel are so expensive it was not too bad.
Would not visit again, as driving is so easy in Croatia I think I would have pushed on to Pag which is not really that far from Privlaka and stayed the night there.
If you actually did manage to get a balcony/sea room it would be a niceplace to stay for a night but otherwise it is a no frills, comfortable, spacious hotel with a good restaurnant and nice location.
Zadar is a really nice town, what a shame there are not more medium priced options in the old town.
We saw the sea from our window. I can only recomend the place. Me and my family went, it was great for little kids too. Thanks for the near by sandy beaches. The sea was clear as it gets with a lot of stuff to discover in it.
