The hotel was built in 2006 and therefore is generally in good shape, it has 23 rooms nono of which has a balcony and two big apartments (1 on the first and the other on the second floor), which only have direct see view and large balconies. You may get a room on the left side of the building (facing the parking lot and the neigbouring building) which have partial sea view but no balcony. Elevator worked, AC worked, there is a mini bar (however it was empty so we just used the fridge), cleaning service evvery day, electric shutter and mosquito net (except bathroom, which is quite strange). Reception desk: the young lady was extremely helpful, but other staff members were also professional and polite. Restaurant staff talked very basic English and German, but was enough to make the orders. Breakfasts: always the same, and mostly poor quality food (hams, cheese, drinks). The hotel could make much better in this regard. We went with half-board, including (buffet) dinners. Soups were pretty bad (instants?), but you always had a pasta, meat and fish with some french fries (way too salty) and/or cooked vegetables + 1 type of desert. I think food is something where the hotel could develop a lot. I was told that the dinner costs 9 euros per person (our 3 years old ate free of charge) but lunch is 12 euros, so if you want to change you have to pay 3 euros but for lunch you get a choice of menu instead of buffet. I don't think it is worth. Overall we could always find to eat something, but there were some examples where we hade to go a la carte for our 3 years old. The restaurant offers many sort of pizzas (34-45 kunas), pastas (40-55 kunas), and local meat and fish dishes (60-120 kunas).
A parking place was always available. There is free wifi with good signal strength also at the end of the corridors. There are two bars in the nearby (both selling ice-creams) a small bakery shop (only open in the mornings and early afternoons) and a fruit/vegetable stand. Otherwise not much to see near the hotel or in Privlaka. But you will need a car to get to Nin or Zadar (both recommended).
The place where the hotel is located is a shallow bay in the southern part of Privlaka. It is ideal for families with young children because kids can play safely in the water. There is fine sand in the bay so you can walk aroun with naked foot. There is a couple of small sandbars near the promenade which is not covered by water so kids can also play there with their sand toys. The beach is a concrete beach: 3 steps down to the water. No umbrella or sunbed rental offered, however the hotel can provide a limited number of umbrellas free of charge. Sometimes it is worth to lay your towels in the morning (08:00-10:00), so you will have a good place to rest during the day. It is very comfortable that the hotel is 10 meters away from the beach.
Conclusion: Hotel Laguna is a nice hotel, offering well decorated and larger size rooms with AC, free wifi and daily cleaning service, but gastronomic services could be further improved. This is a place mostly recommended for families with young children or elderly people. We spent a very nice and relaxing week here. Our double room with a sofa that can be transformed to a third bed for 2 adults and a 3 years old costed 80 euros per day including half-board, which makes a good value for the money, even with the shortcomings described earlier.

Finding a good and reasonably priced place to stay in Zadar was a real challenge and as our Ryainair flight got in quite late we really did not want to travel very far.

Ideally we would have loved to stay in the Bastion hotel but the cheapest I could ever get a room there was 220 euros which I feel is overpriced and as arriving late it just wasn't worth it.

I also looked at a couple of other option with the Falkensteiner chain who had a couple of options also at about 220-260 euros.

Then there were the guesthouses in the suburbs, with seaview and balconies for 50 euros. We originally had considered the Villa Triana, but in the end we thought we would complromise with The Laguna Hotel - sea view room with balcomy 90 euros.

Well when we arrived our room, though very nice and spacious had a lovely view of a wall and concrete lane that leads to the car park at the side of the hotel.

I asked to be changed to the room i had booked but got little response other that a berse "No rooms with balconies available".

Anyway we had a lovely meal downstairs in the restaurant on right next to the water which was lovely and the service was excellent.

Then the next moring a very strange breakfast which was very sparse with odd coffee, but then the waiter from the last night rushed up and took the vile coffee away from me and offered us cappuchinos and omlettes - which were lovely!

As is the unfortunate practice in so many Croatian hotel check out was before noon - in this case I think it was 11 which was so much better than the usual 10 am boot out!

Off we went, happy enough, disappointed about not being given the sea view/balcony room promised and a bit disappointed that the shot of the hotel is really a lot more glamerous than it is in reality.

Value wise I would have been happier paying 65 or 70 euros for the room, but then Croatian hotel are so expensive it was not too bad.

Would not visit again, as driving is so easy in Croatia I think I would have pushed on to Pag which is not really that far from Privlaka and stayed the night there.

If you actually did manage to get a balcony/sea room it would be a niceplace to stay for a night but otherwise it is a no frills, comfortable, spacious hotel with a good restaurnant and nice location.

Zadar is a really nice town, what a shame there are not more medium priced options in the old town.

Excellent value for money. The price includes free parking, excellent wifi in the rooms, city tax and loungers on the beach. The room is clean and very spacy with a very nice bathroom. the stuff is very helpfull and friendly. Location is very good, quietly sourrounding, only few meters from the beach with a clean sea and sand. Pet friendly facility. Two dog beaches nearby, one on a walking distance, the other few kilometars away. Who likes to complain will always find a reason for, but no need in this case. Its a great facility with an excellent value for money ratio

Bad service. Broken sheets. They entered the room when there was a Do Not Disturb sign. The receptionist-owner says he comes in to check because he wants to, although it's trespassing clearly. WiFi is not working. They don't replenish towels or make the bed. You can't have dinner at the buffet if you don't book before 1 a.m. They offer no alternative.

Well rounded. Good enough food. M. is great just like the rest of the crew.
We saw the sea from our window. I can only recomend the place. Me and my family went, it was great for little kids too. Thanks for the near by sandy beaches. The sea was clear as it gets with a lot of stuff to discover in it.

What a lovely hotel with the friendliest people you can imagine! Everything we asked for had been taken care of, always with a big smile! Special thanks to Jasna who came back at midnight, after her shift was already over, to help us with the nightly checkout!!

Even one star is too much for this hotel. We had booked a room with balcony and sea view. We gave their "best" apartment, where we could not take a shower because the tub drain was clogged. Bathroom smelled of sewage, and the room was not ventilated and dirty. The price of 160 euros for 2 nights in June is overrated too, even half of this cost is for the hotel and the service they offer. The staff was impolite and rough, they gave tools to my husband to fix drainage ::)))) it seems funny, but is actually sad for four star hotel. Breakfast was very poor, the bread was the old with days, and one day I found mold. There was muddy beach with lots of crabs and need to go 200 feet if you want to swim. Simple, AVOID THIS HOTEL.

Very disappointing for the price of $150/night. Unprofessional staff, bad morning coffee, bad tasting spoiled fruit for breakfast, broken hair dryer, decor and TVs from 20 years ago if not even older. Breakfast buffet food not properly covered, exposed to flies. Poorly set up and decorated porch. No iron in the room, front desk excuse "They had it for three days and the guests broke it day 3". Wifi awful, useless in the rooms. Do not pay more than $80/night for this place as you will feel like a complete fool.
