Beautiful hotel in a great location. Staff were so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Based off other recent reviews I was a little hesitant to stay here, experience was great and I will definitely stay here again on future trips to Portland.
Brandon at the front desk was exceptionally unprofessional and unfriendly. Usually I like staying in boutique hotels despite having bonvoy platinum status. Highly regretted it this time. Should’ve paid the same to stay at the hi lo if I knew service level was so low.
The Heathman is a real gem run by amazing professionals. We used it as the host hotel for my daughter's wedding. The staff was impressive, very positive, helpful, & personable, each and every one we interacted with. The common library area was wonderful for folks to meet up informally as they were coming and going in the days before and after the wedding. The library is available any time 24 hours to guests. It was clean and a very comfortable relaxing space. The hotel’s location is very convenient for walking to many restaurants and bars/breweries. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and quiet. It was a great choice for a group.
At check in although quite busy I received a complimentary adult bevy. Mac at the front desk should receive a gold star! Calm, cool and willing to accommodate her guest. She is remarkable and can't say enough. Currently I am sitting in a library of 21,00 1st edition books signed, a fresh cup of a coffee and a fireplace. I slept on a bed that had to have been stolen from angels in heaven—yum. Prior to hitting the hay I worked out on state of the art equipment. For the value and luxury you will leave rested and happy. And please— leave the book here 🫢 I will be back! Marti
I have been wanting to stay at this historic hotel, but when I finally stayed there, I was very disappointed. First of all, the valet staff is amazing and helpful even if you're not parking a car (beware-$60/day)). They have the best directions, recommendations, etc. The hotel staff is decidedly unhelpful and downright sour. Next, there is a $26/amenities charge per day that is outrageous. When I asked what it covered, the desk person said "the free happy hour (well then it's not really free, is it?, the bikes & gym (which I didn't even want to use), and again, the free coffee in the room, and a $5 credit on their snack choices. Seems like not much for a nonnegotiable $26/day! Bathroom was literally the smallest bathroom I've ever been in. Except for the great location, I don't think I'd stay here again.…
My wife and I stayed for three nights. My previous stays have been numerous over the past ten years. Restaurant is permanently closed. WiFi is a wreck which we confirmed on four separate devices. Staff reported they were working on it. House keeping never showed up for our room. Promised receipt by email. I never received it. Now I have to have my admin chase it down. It was never like this before. My advice...stay someplace else.
My wife and I stayed for the night while attending a show. The entire Heathman staff was beyond great. From the valet to the front end staff we could not have felt more taken care of. The room was clean and beautiful. The hotel keeps its charming traditional look with the all amenities of brand new hotel. If you’re staying in Portland you honestly can’t do better!
We have stayed at The Heathman Hotel in downtown Portland Oregon many times since 2012. Great location in downtown. Light rail, restaurants, shopping and events. Hotel is located right next to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, perfect venue for a variety of performances.
This hotel is in a good location but that's about it. The skeleton staff at check-in were completely disengaged and could not even answer basic questions. We had to pull the information from the check-in person. The restaurant and bar are both closed and the room is only cleaned every fourth day. When we asked for a casual light-fare dinner suggestion, the only suggestion was the Higgins Restaurant. This particular restaurant is not casual - the best you can do for casual fare is a salad. at his location. The only people who seemed engaged and responsive were the the guys at valet as they were friendly and professional. The rooms have been renovated but the bathroom is extremely small - not sure why you would go to the trouble of renovating the space and not put in a decent size bathroom - you can barely close the door. When I called to ask if I had left any items in the room, the the receptionist was rude. The Lobby is empty and not friendly or welcoming. The employees seem disengaged and are not versed in good customer service. For the price I paid, I could have stayed at another hotel in the area. Not sure what is going on but it's not worth the money nor the experience. Lower your expectations if staying at The Heathman Hotel.…
We went during pandemic maybe phase I, and Portland was in the middle of a lot of civil disturbances downtown, as well as homeless people all around...the hotel was recommended by friends who stayed here some years ago and the interior does reflect some glory days much art work and interesting interior...but from check in taking forever with only one clerk and some kind of last minute room promo too many people trying to figure out what to do and whether to stay, etc, and many possibly most people there were with their dogs all sizes mostly well behaved but at times startling very surprising considering the price, kind of a scary location, parking garage was maybe a block away but I wasn't comfortable going down there to park and walking back so paid the $50 valet and again a sign of the times perhaps no restaurant or bar service at the time...got food from the little candy store out front, egg tacos type. Hopefully things have improved and the city has regained control but in part no fault of the hotel it was just not a city location I enjoyed or was comfortable in…
