My recollection is of DoubleTree providing cookies for the evening. That has changed since there is no longer housekeeping provided to your room unless requested. On the plus side, they have contact-less check-in via their app, and you can have a digital key on your phone. The downside is that means, you need to be a Hilton Honors member and use their app, you don't get a cookie on your pillow. And, if you have a roommate, that person needs to be a member to get a digital key too. If you know to go to the front desk in the lobby to ask for a cookie, you are given 1. You also have to know to ask for two bottles of water. Of course, if you want to save plastic, you won't. The room we had was on the 9th floor facing the river, but I recommend taking a room facing the other way. The view is of the roof and other buildings. Also, the end room is smaller and has a funky bathroom setup. Sink is in the room, outside from the shower (no tub) and toilet. When you enter the room, it is a tight fit to 'easily' walk in because the wall juts out, so you have to do a turn to walk into the room. The wait staff was friendly. Parking was $27/night -- self park. There's public transportation if you're game, and there's Lyft and Uber available. I heard Lyft is more available. We had to wait 15 minutes for our Uber rides. Refrigerator and microwave available upon request -- First come, first served. We didn't try to get one. Breakfast buffet is reasonable. The coffee bar outside is a better deal.…
This hotel is a great place to stay overnight for a visit to Hale Pele or Rum Club. Rooms are very nice and there is a good view of Mt Hood from the even rooms. Fridges are available on request if available, so we could keep our leftovers. Staff is very friendly and you get a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie on checking. Parking is additional but nice facility.Beds we’re are bit worn on the 12th floor.
I loved Portland but won't stay downtown again. This hotel is locked up tight, day and night but no security outside, no bellmen, no valet. Worried about my car and the front desk said there was nothing they could do and offered to tell us where else to park. Bar was barely open in the evening. No Breakfast offered, just a coffee spot. They stuck us in rooms on the train side and it was loud day & night. It's a shame this place was something when Portland was busy. I hope the city recovers, but until then I will be skipping this noisy place with poor service.
I stayed here for several nights for an event being hosted at the hotel. I will say that the 7th floor room was very quiet and the heater definitely works. Front desk and housekeeping staff were very friendly. Walkable to Safeway and some great restaurants, but I wouldn't have gone after dark without my partner, as the neighborhood is very deserted and a bit sketchy. Convenient to public transit. The room was acceptably clean, but very outdated. We did not get a group rate, but got the AAA rate, and the value for money was very poor: $160+ tax for a queen room with no fridge or microwave. Although these items are available on request, they were not available on this busy weekend, and I'm not sure where we would have put them in the tiny room anyway. I was surprised how small the room was and it was definitely in need of some upkeep. I don't recommend it for more than a day or two if you are two people and have luggage. The paint was chipping, there was actually tape on the ceiling and walls in some places. Furniture and walls had stains. We asked for daily housekeeping, and the linens frequently had holes (towels and bedding). No fitted sheets on the bed, just two flat sheets with a duvet in between. Terrible pillows with no loft. Our bathroom shower leaked because the door doesn't shut tightly and the guard in one of the far corners is bent. We never had breakfast in the hotel, because who wants to pay for breakfast when your room is overpriced and the grocery store is a short walk away? We did eat at the restaurant for dinner one night and it was acceptable, but staff should take more care to ensure that glasses are clean. Water glasses had greasy fingerprints on them from multitasking staff. We would not stay here again even if the event is held here. There are places that are far better value for money just a short transit ride away.…
Loved this place. Love that it’s pet friendly and also The front desk staff early morning was amazing. The afternoon staff not so much. They failed to even offer me a cookie when checking in. That was very disappointing
