The hotel was nice, clean, calm. The restaurant was delicious, the host were excellent. Even the cleaning staff was awesome. The only unfortunate thing is that you have to valet, the parking isn't FREE!!! AND IT'S QUITE EXPENSIVE. But the customer service was phenomenal.
Being a Ambassador Elite Member of Mqrriott Bonvoy I am still shocked and I must say that the stay in Marriot Portland Downtown was the worth I ever had in Marriot group. This Property does not at all reflect the general high standard of Marriot / Sheraton Hotels! 1) My room was not serviced. When I arrived from the meetings at 5:30 pm, I called the reception and they informed me that as per Hotel policy rooms are only serviced when specifically requested by the guest. The same should have been informed to me at check-in, and they apologized for not having done it. However, house keeping was not available that time anymore, so cleaning etc was not possible. Max they where able to do, after second request, was send someone to pick up the trash from the bin. 2) No Ambassador recognition, no special amenities in the room, no “enhanced room”, not even a “welcome postcard”. 3) On top of the above, I was charged 30 USD “handling fee” for some small boxes which where shipped to the Hotel, and which I even had to pick up at the reception myself. At this service level I would rate the Hotel not more than 2*. It must be mentioned that all the staff was friendly and welcoming, but this does not make up for the general poor service at 250+ USD per night for a normal room.…
For being on the river front you'd except maybe some kind of fish smell but no, our room and the entire hall way smelled like straight up sewer. We complained to the front desk and all we wanted was some air fresheners and maybe some fans but the front desk stated they were all out. What kind of hotel doesn't keep some on standby? the lobby bathrooms smelled like someone recently smoked drugs in it. I wouldn't stay here again.
I organized an important meeting with them and included a buffet, The whole team was amazing from reception to Sales to banquet to The company they work with Encore for Audio Visual. Special Thanks for Dannielle Daniel Destination Sales Executive and Ms Lynn from F&B. Thank you all for the great experience.
My husband and I stayed from September 17th-20th at the Portland Marriott in a room with an awesome view of the Willamette River. The staff at the front desk was so friendly and helpful directing us to restaurants and even supplied us with some items that we had forgotten- shaving cream and a toothbrush! But most importantly, when I realized several weeks later, that I had left a gold bracelet that had belonged to my mother, I called the hotel with little hope that they would find it. To my surprise and happiness, they found it in the laundry (they have their own laundry service at the hotel) and had kept it in the lost and found. It is a real credit to the honesty and professionalism of the staff of this hotel. I would definitely stay here again!
