I love the Ace and have stayed at multiple locations. This was by far the worst stay of any hotel in my life. It was freezing cold in my room even with the heat supposedly on. Slept in multiple layers and was uncomfortable the whole time. Felt more like a hostel than a hotel. The charming restaurant and bar are now closed. The staff was nice though.
We had a nice stay here on NYE, a central location in downtown Portland, walking distance to restaurants, a Whole Foods and recommended self parking . We stayed on a standard front room and it was perfect, clean and quiet. We love “the pantry” and enjoyed coffee at any time and wonderful pastries in the morning. The hotel is in a historical building and has a lot of character. There is a great coffee shop in the same building and a sandwich shop next to it that looks great! We stayed here with our two pups . The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely go back.
I have stayed at the Ace 3 times (I think) in the past couple weeks and it has been nothing short of a wonderful experience. It never even occurred to my friends or I to try a different hotel. Oz, Harmony, and Stuart (I hope I spelled everyone's names right) were excellent. They greeted me by name every time I walked through the front door. While the ambiance of this dope hotel played a part, I felt like I was chatting with old friends every time I passed the front desk. Hell, Stumptown next-door even knew my coffee order by heart. I feel like I should use some of this review to describe the sick decor and stuff but honestly I only got on here to shout out the staff. As someone who has been in the hospitality industry for over 10 years, I can genuinely say these guys rocked. I will stay here every time I come to Portland. Special shout out to Oz for dealing with me over the phone!…
I know you can find more luxurious locations, more amenities. But where else has been mentioned in a Bon Iver song? Where else can you take a bath in a claw-foot tub while listening to their Lauren Hill albums on vinyl? Where else can you get Stumptown onsite and eat it on your army blanket bedspread? Ace Hotel is just cool! The location is also perfect and just ideal. Steps away from Powell's, has Clyde Common onsite. Wonderful stay.
Had a really nice stay here. People are kind, the hotel is well kept, room was nice, and location was great. I would stay here again if I return to Portland. The restaurant and coffee shops attached were both top-notch as well.
Surrounded by cool shops and restaurants, Ace Portland is definitely the better choice to stay in town. Rooms are well designed and large for its class. There is a coffee shop and a restaurant on the ground floor, and a cool quiet hang out space just above the reception......very nice.
Spent the weekend here and loved it. Great selection of old vinyl in the room which was fun. The location is ideal - tons of great shopping and restaurants within walking distance. Complimentary bikes for longer jaunts. And what every hotel room needs. - a super comfy bed.
Really enjoyable stay. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Hotel is attached to coffee shop and restaurant/bar. Sofa's in communal area always had people about, which makes place very welcoming. The room decor tries a little too hard to be hip (decor, low bed, fixtures) but room was big, clean and came with a robe. Couldn't ask for more and would stay here again if visiting Portland.
Firstly this hotel is way cool. Set in an historic building the finishings and furnishings are just exquisite. So incredibly stylish. Rooms are a little small but had everything you need. Location is great too. I could see Powell's Books from my room. Plus Stumptown coffee is basically part of the hotel.
What an interesting hotel!! We loved it. Definitely different, but well appointed room (we were upgraded to a suite),. Our room was spacious and well presented. Lots of interesting fittings and furnishings, including a freestanding claw foot bath. The complimentary cookies were a nice touch. Very comfortable bed and hotel seemed to be in a quiet neighbourhood. We slept well. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant but there is a coffee shop on one side and a cafe on the other - both have direct access from the lobby.
