Spent two nights in Portland on our way back to Canada from our trip to southern Oregon. This is my second stay at The Paramount and I chose the hotel based on my experience nine years ago.

The room was extremely comfortable and as a bonus had a in room safe. Everything was meticulously cleaned and couldn’t find anything wrong room wise. Centrally located in Portland, everything was within walking distance.

What was noteworthy was how friendly and helpful all the hotel staff were from the front desk to the valet. The only fly in the ointment for my stay was my room wasn’t made up when I returned at 1500 hrs despite leaving at 1000 hrs. In the end, it’s not a big deal but worth noting.

Valet parking is available for about $ 55 a night. So, if you’re driving into town just be aware of it. In all, I once again enjoyed my stay and would come back again.

Lovely room with king size bed. I chose a room with a balcony. A large bathroom with an enclosed shower, a large soaking tub and nice fluffy towels. The room had nice touches such as decorator pillows, a metal tray that extended over the bathtub to hold your beverage and the book you were reading, and a small refrigerator.
The hotel also has a restaurant attached to it and a bar that serves food which is very handy if you want a drink and a snack and don't want to go out.
The staff is friendly and helpful. I mentioned I had to go up to my room and get my umbrella, as it was raining, and the hotel clerk offered me an umbrella to use.
I will definitely stay at this hotel the next time I come to Portland.

This will definitely be our Go-to hotel whenever we’re in town. The staff was friendly, the valet was timely and friendly, both restaurants offer 2 different vibes and great food. The location is within walking distance to many restaurants and activities or a short and cheap Uber ride away from everything else.

I was really disappointed with this hotel, mainly because of their lack of transparency with billing. When I booked my reservation over the phone, I was quoted a far different price than what appeared on my final bill. The bizarre amenity charge was explained to me, but the hotel was out of water and the gym was unavailable when I tried to use it. Paying a $30 per night amenity fee for Chromecast, Wi-Fi, and to get a $10 credit at the hotel restaurant is just unreasonable and not worth it. Most hotels include these offerings in the nightly price rather than tacking on fees and charges to the room rate. The hotel seems to nickel and dime you at every turn. Charging an amenity fee without providing the promised amenities is unacceptable.

I booked this room for my GF and I's anniversary, and the two biggest things that drew us to this hotel was the private balcony and separate tub and shower. We wanted to be able to walk out at night and look at the sky and wake up in the morning and possibly have a cup of coffee while waking up. I was told the room I booked wasn't available because of construction a day before we checked in and offered either a room without the separate tub/shower or without the balcony both of which I wanted and booked specifically for. I was offered $20 off my stay, which felt paltry and forced, but fine, it was too late for me to scramble and change the other plans I had made. Now I realize the $20 off wasn't really a discount for the inconvenience, it was just the difference in the room rate between the room I booked and the room I got. I really wanted to find a place we could make a tradition for us to go to on our anniversary, but unless something changes, this won't be it. I was pretty certain the construction was a lie, but so be it, I get the game, and I was already not happy with the offer of $20 off for the inconvenience, but now I'm pretty damn unhappy to find out it wasn't even $20 off, it was just that somehow not charging me full price for the room I booked but didn't get and only charging me for the room that I actually stayed in, was somehow supposed to make me happy for being bumped out of the room I booked. On top of that, I had to ask three times to get my receipt for my stay, which I suspect wasn't being sent because I would see exactly what I had been charged and realize that I was being ripped off.

They charge a "resort fee" that is automatically charged when you check in, Consequently when reserving on line you don't see that additional fee. It seems to me to be intentional. I was told by desk clerk that the "resort fee" was for admssion to an offsite gym, valet service and TWO BOTTLES OF WATER IN THE ROOM

Greg, as we discussed over email, the amenity fee is clearly listed on the third party website you used to book your stay. Our guests can enjoy a $10 per night credit to our restaurant and bar, bottled water, upgraded high speed internet service as well as other amenities on-site at our location with this fee. I hope this helps clear up any confusion you may have had during your booking process.

We brought the entire family, inc grandchildren, for 3 nights. Their promo rate was too enticing, given that we stayed here before about 3 years ago and liked the rooms, location, and proximity to shops and restos. Breakfast is not included in the rate but the Swine adjacent to the lobby is convenient and tops.
Housekeeping is on 72H delay, ie, every third day, but fresh towels and emptying trash cans available daily. The AC works but it's not intuitive.
Parking is easy at the garage 1/2 block away at $20 daily. I saw too many busted out car windows to leave it outside.
Since the homeless situation is now hopeless, one of them likes to hang around the front of the hotel. When she scared my grandson with her sudden scream, he was always on the look for her, and the memory still haunts him.

Good location, nice size rooms, clean but bland impersonal hotel. Price seemed good but there are extra fees- $30 per night for chromecast, wifi, and the gym (which is unremarkable.) $75 per night for incidentals (refunded if not used but added $375 to the initial charge to our five night stay), $59 per night for valet and there is very little if any easy parking nearby unless you find a garage. We were advised repeatedly about safety issues and told not to leave car in the street at night, and remove all valuables from the car even in daytime. No breakfast or any amenities provided other than two water bottles.

Very nice place to stay. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were well furnished. Plus, they had the soap dispensers and not the small bottles of shampoo that my baby hands hate opening up. The front desk clerk also provided a fantastic family evening by recommending a game themed restaurant a few blocks away.

When I checked in, they took $220 security deposit for 2 nights. When I checked out, they said they will deduct $70 for the amenity fee for 2 days. I told the receptionist that no one told us about this fee. The day I checked in, the receptionist just said $110 per night for the security deposit, never mentioned about $35 amenity fee per day. The attitude of the receptionist was rude ác she said we deducted $70 and you will receive thd remaining balance. No explanation no apology. Worst experience ever.

Hi ednabear7, Thank you for your question. The guest who posted the review about bugs stayed in room 1101 and the photos she sent us were of carpet beetles and have been treated. Hotels live in fear of bed bugs and because we do, we train our cleaning staff and managers to always be on the lookout for signs of them. I am able to personally inspect most rooms where we have received complaints and have not found a bed bug in a room in the last few years. When we get a complaint, we quarantine the room and start a very thorough process of searching. If nothing is found, all linens and pillows are put in the dryers as an extra precaution as the heat will kill anything and then we bring in a pest control company to re-inspect and then treat the room as an additional precaution. If something is found, we bring in a company which will essentially put all the room contents in a hot box and superheat it for a day. If you have concerns, you should always address them with the hotel immediately. It is equally important to us as I’m sure it is to you that we are bug free. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have further concerns. Sincerely, Norm Hwa General Manager 503.276.1764
