Detailed Reviews
We were pleasantly surprised at the refurbished rooms. Our original room was deemed "out of order" shortly before checking in so we were upgraded to a mini suite at no additional cost. We had originally booked a combo for $209 on a Saturday night. The refurbed mini suites are amazing. They look like rooms at an upper scale hotel! The beautiful showers have both regular shower heads with an additional rain shower head. Gone is the old Shilo Inn-esque look. Our only complaint was the placement of the microwave. It's contained in a cabinet that also holds the safe, the coffee supplies, etc. But, the microwave is situated on the bottom shelf of this cabinet leaving it pretty awkward for using. I would have preferred it on the top of the cabinet near the Keurig. Yes,a Keurig, nice touch Chinook Winds! Overall we had a great stay and truly appreciate the update of the rooms!

We've stayed at the Casino Suites many times, and they have just done a spectacular remodel.
It has been done head to toe, with upgrades to everything.
The shower was especially nice, with two heads, one with a wand and an overhead also, both individually controlled. The whole room has been upgraded, including new TV displays.
There is a new privacy keypad in the room which you can press to signal to outside "privacy" or "clean", a nice touch.
The WiFi, previously unusable, at most 1.5mBs, was now a strong 100+ mBs, enabling a Roku stick to play without issues, previously impossible.
The staff, as always, was friendly, helpful, and wanted to do whatever to make our trip enjoyable, even after it's "covid" re-opening.
No real issues with the new restrictions, the room isn't cleaned daily, like before and masks are required when out but overall very minimal.
We requested some more TP, and it was hanging on the door when we got back.
Our only negative was that before, there was a divider wall separating the "bedroom" from the "sitting area/kitchen " which is now gone, with a "great room" feel which makes it seem more like a large hotel room rather than a suite.
Overall, a great visit deserving a top rating.

Some reviewers have totally panned the rooms in this resort but our 3rd-floor king in building D was fine and appeared to be recently refurbished. During busy times we tend to give hotels a pass when it comes to carpet stains, chipped paint, and other maintenance issues as it's understood how long a room has to be out of service and this place appears to be booked solid every night. So ignoring those issues, we found the room to be clean and comfortable with a stunning view of the beach and ocean (and yes, the windows can be "foggy" but cleaning sea spray off windows each day is pretty much impossible).
The room was on the small side (rooms in the other buildings are a bit bigger, I think) and the bed was comfy (at least I thought it was but my spouse thought it was a little soft, but then he'd sleep on a piece of plywood if he could). The room was also furnished with a small table and chairs, a refrigerator, and a microwave. The bathroom was small with plenty of nice towels and deliciously scented toiletries with a divine showerhead. Since we had the sound of the ocean coming in the open window, we didn't hear anything from neighbors or the outside. We compared it to a nice room at the Super 8.
The location is fabulous with the casino a short walk away and both the casino and hotel restaurants are quite good, plus there's a Safeway and other places to eat within a 1/2 mile.
We also found the staff members in all areas to be super nice and accommodating.
We would definitely stay here again if we wanted to spend time in the casino and just needed a place to sleep.

We enjoy staying at Chinook Winds. We enjoy the casino being so close. The current nonsmoking rule is GREAT in the casino and I wish it were permanent. It is long overdo that the majority of the casino be smoke free and maybe a smaller area for smokers. The casino can learn a lot from this pandemic in creating a clean, inviting smoke and virus resistant atmosphere that will attract more business. I know we would stay more often and spend more money. Many elderly and retired gamblers like us have time and money, love the casino but are sensitive to any virus or smoke. Lastly the standard rooms are a good value however they badly need updating. The room doors are slamming very often and the chairs in the rooms are almost unusable (we have to put bed pillows on them). We think the gambling is better at Spirit Mountain but come to Chinook Winds for the beach. If the they are going to take more money from us in the casino they should improve the beach experience to make up for it.

My wife and I live about 90 miles from the Beach and try to visit 3-5 times a year and we love the Lincoln City area with the wide range of options of Shopping, hiking, site seeing, food & Drink establishments and Gambling @ Chinook Winds. This time we brought our Daughter's Dog and he loved the Beach!
We were very happy with the room we were given and we gladly paid a small fee for having a dog with us. Chinook Winds was very Dog friendly and we will be sure to go back. The Bed was perfect and what a great view of the Ocean. Easy Beach access and we had the best Fried Clams at the Casino Dinning Room with a Spectacular view of the Ocean and Sunset! Food prices were the best of any place we ate at and we highly recommend the Resort.

We arrived much too early to check into our room. Being our first trip to Chinook Winds, we stopped by the Golf Course, as we purchased the special golf package. We would need to rent clubs, so we stopped by to check things out. We also went into the casino and requested a gaming card, which we both were given and received $5.00 gaming dollars for signing up. We both did very well in the gaming we participated in. We drove over to see about signing up for our room. We were told that there were two rooms available. We chose the bottom floor (first) rather than the third. We had stayed at one of the beaches for our 35th anniversary, so did not want to spend the top dollar for an ocean view room. However, we knew we were getting a no view room but did not realize it was TINY. No refrigerator, no dresser, and no closet, so we had nowhere to hang or even fold and arrange our clothes. The room was at the end of a narrow hall with four doors for four different rooms. It was VERY tiny. It felt like a punishment for not paying for an ocean view room. The room was so very small. We could hear people in all of the three other rooms. We could hear the showers and fans running, toilets flushing, the doors shutting, the conversations had. Next time we will see if there is a medium-sized and priced room. The "compact" room should inform the purchaser that they are a walk away from the casino, not attached, that there is nowhere to put your clothing or your suitcases. The queen bed was comfortable but was all in white. With no luggage rack or dresser, we had to put the luggage on the bed, to arrange things, and the white sheets (or duvet cover) became dirty. The room is incredibly small. I realized it did not have an ocean view and was fine with that, The golf course is small, and is not located on the same campus as the casino nor the lodging facility, that is not attached to the casino.

The check-in was good and efficient. The rooms were clean and ready. We had a good time on the gaming floor and really appreciated the non-smoking gaming floor.
We had our daughter and grand kids visiting and brought them. We were disappointed that the kids gaming center was closed as well as the pool. I think when you make reservation you should be told about that. We most likely would have made difference arrangements if we knew that, fortunately the weather was beautiful and the kids were able to enjoy and have fun on the beach.
All 7 of us had dinner at the seafood grill and the service and food was very good, in fact my husband went back to the kitchen and gave the cooks a $20 for the great prime rib he got.
The next morning we all went to breakfast at 9am as check is at 10. We had to wait for almost 20 minuets before the hostess who was on the phone the entire time with a almost empty restaurant finally seated us. We promptly ordered but did not get back to the room until 10:10am to load up our bags and check out. Our room door was open but nothing seemed to be missing which was very alarming. When we got home there was a message on our home phone saying that check out time was at 10 am and the housekeeping found bags in your room after 10 am and wanted to know where we were at and why our bags were left in the room. Wow this was very unacceptable to me. The bottom line is if they had better service and more people working in the restaurant guest could get checked out on time. But going into our room and leaving our door open with all our valuable and belonging should have never happened.

Even though there were no services, my husband and I had everything that we needed. House Keeping staff was available every morning on our level if we did need anything, and they were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean we could tell that the bathrooms were recently remodeled. The 2 chairs in the room are very uncomfortable and need to be replaced as the wear and tear is very visible. It is wonderful that you offered temporary housing to your employees that were displaced by the recent unfortunate fires, we did however feel uncomfortable with the employees that were using the room next to us as they were hanging around at all hours outside our door. We also witnessed a very unhappy guess complaining about his neighbor as well.

I was pleased with my recent two-night stay at Chinook Winds Casino Resort. With the Covid pandemic they have everything clean, sanitizers readily available, no smoking, masks required of staff and visitors like me. That felt safe and good. I preferred dining at their nice steakhouse (uncertain of the name) and the nice restaurant across from motel registration. I had fun playing, nice dining. Also visited the Outlet Mall in a Lincoln City too.

Casino was clean and handled covid rules very well. Room was clean and nice, but smelled like a dirty ashtray. Since everything is being converted to non-smoking, all the rooms need to be fully painted, drapes cleaned or replaced and carpets replaced to get rid of smells.
