Lovely food and service the location is a beautiful place. The historic venue also has beautiful suites and a lovely library where we had a drink after the anniversary party. Not to mention the amenities it has to offer visitors. I was absolutely amazed by the landscape and the atmosphere. I also witnessed a Scottish wedding that took place over there. Impressive to say the least. The staff were so attentive and polite. I truly enjoyed our visit to the castle. Should I get the chance to go there again, I would be the first in line to visit it.

Worn out....sofa so old it was flattened. Mattress sagging so you rolled together, the toilet wouldn't flush properly, chairs in the dinning room were threadbare at the tops and dirty. Breakfast bowls had numerous chips visible from across the room ...the whole stack. I had to help a woman with a walking frame fetch water from down the corridor, as the hotel does not have bottled water.....they could fill one and put it in the fridge for guests but don't. Breakfast ...a famous pub chain does better ...served in a ban Marie...looked more steamed than grilled....bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, wet mushrooms and crusty looking beans the only cooked options. Bar ran out of bottled beer, charged full price for 3/4 of a pint of Guinness as it ran out mid serve. Staff didn't know what to serve with gin. Only 4 tables so nowhere to sit. Basic spa no seating available. Dinner service no help with allergies.

Stayed here as I was working nearby at the RMA. Sadly i could only stay 1 night as the second night was way over budget. The room was comfortable. The pool and spa was great. The breakfast was also good. It looks a little "rough" on the outside but a soon as you walk through the door you get that wow factor. Lots of parking but its a fair walk to the entrance.

I visited the spa today and had a neck back and shoulder massage done by Ti, just wanted to say that she was amazing, it was the best massage I have ever had, the facilities are brilliant and thoroughly enjoyed the pool accompanied by the sauna and steam room, and the beds by poolside are very comfortable.

The hotel itself is beautiful, staff friendly, food lovely. The rooms are really nice. We were called in advance to say they had staff shortages so members of our group all had to have treatments at differing times between 2 and 4 which wasn’t ideal. It does seem that treatments are quite rushed due to squeezing lots of people in and it is a ‘one in one out’ system. I feel the spa is quite basic (no jacuzzi etc) and when busy you can not sit near anywhere. None of our robes had ties, apparently they were short that day but was inconvenient as we only realised once undressed. When we went for spa treatments, my sisters were called in and then a lady come out unsure of my name or what treatment I was having and she had lost my card with details etc. I did enjoy the facial, however when speaking to my sisters their experience was a little different. I didn’t have my eye make up removed, neck massaged, products verbally told or written down. I also wasn’t told about the relaxation room so I missed out on that. I will say I must have been unlucky as my family all enjoyed their treatments. When I told reception they didn’t seem that bothered or offer any solution. Dinner was lovely, the only downside was there was a couple of things on the menu that had changed that we wasn’t told about before ordering which was annoying. Restaurant staff friendly and cocktails delicious. We also wasn’t aware we could only use spa facilities until 11am on day of checkout so it left us little time. We slept very well and overall we had a great weekend however we probably would look to book elsewhere next time.

My mother and I chose to stay here overnight due to an appointment locally the following day. Beautiful building and our rooms were perfect for us, generous in size (Mum had an accessible room) with good sized bathrooms. Good room amenities, little fridge an unexpected bonus. Beds amazingly comfortable!! Staff are fab, and super helpful, reception staff professional and efficient, and the girl behind the bar was charming and knowledgeable. We were room only basis so can't comment on food offerings. I also had 2 dogs in tow, supplement of £15 each, which seems to be the norm nowadays. Just to mention to those travelling with dogs, please know you'll also be asked for a £100 deposit on check in, (refundable, in case of incident) and my understanding was they are not allowed in any of the public areas. Absolutely no issue with their policy, but it's not immediately obvious on booking. Looking forward to returning in May, thank you for a relaxing stay.
