Luxury Bed & Breakfast situated in the shadow of the famous castle, overlooking the historic town of Richmond. We aim to ensure that all our guests feel pampered and offer boutique style accommodation in this beautiful 18th century town house.
Good quality breakfast, thank you Diane. However the room was very disappointing . With the squeaky bathroom door. The drippy basin tap the sloping bed, and dangerously high kettle. On opening the reviews in the morning and realising that Nigel had not acted upon the advice of the previous review regarding the problems of Eastby Room made me even more disappointed. However Nigel is a welcoming host.

First the positives: Great location, right in the centre of town. We were able to check-in earlier than 4pm. Parking is available close to the hotel. Breakfast was fabulous. Good tea tray. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives. We booked the 'luxury Easby room' and I'm not sure if the owners are aware that it is far from luxurious. We were aware of the sloping floors and low ceilings and although it takes some getting use to this is due to the age of the building and can't be helped. But I'm unsure why you would buy a cheap metal bedrame (crammed into a really tight spot) and not make it even and level. Just by looking at it you can tell it has a significant tilt downwards. The mattress slides to one side of the frame leaving a gap. It really makes for a very uncomfortable sleep as you are constantly rolling down the bed. Maybe a good quality solid wooden bedframe with extra pieces of timber on the 2 left hand side legs would raise that side up. The 2 tiny beside cabinets, which are clearly very cheaply made and don't match anything else in the room are very unsafe due to the slope of the floor. It wasn't safe to put a hot drink on there and the lamp was also ready to fall over. Again solid, heavy units would help. Or some shelves fixed to the walls either side of the bed. The decorating finish leaves alot to be desired. The wallpapering is very poor, the light fitting has obviously been moved at some point but the previous mark has been left. The wallpaper in the dressing area is coming away from the wall due to issues with damp. The leather sofa is full of cracks in the material and looks very shabby. The roll top Bath has cracks and gauges around the plughole and the tap on the sink is very loose. There were also no toiletries in the room, paying for a 'luxury room' I would at least expect some shower gel. There is a damp patch on the ceiling above the bed and the curtain pole is coming away from the wall. Nothing really matched, the lamps were different, some furniture shabby chic style, some modern, some just very cheap. It could be a lovely little room but it should not be classed as a luxury room.…

First I'd like to say the staff were really friendly. I had booked a room and was asked if I wanted to book in before 12 which I said yes. When we turned up the room wasn't ready. I was told they knew nothing about us turning up at that time. We dropped our bags off and walked round the town. Went back to the room round 3 but it was freezing. No heating on. Told the wife to go get a hot bath to warm her up but no hot water. Heating seemed to come on round 4 or 5. Sometime in the evening the heating was turned off. It was freezing through the night. So rubbish night sleep. Breakfast was great but sorry to say I won't be rushing back..

We enjoyed the Richmond Suite with fireplace and bathtub. With comfy robes and a fireplace ready to light we were pleasantly surprised. It is a quirky building with no straight lines but that adds to its charm. Nigel and the team were great and provided a nice breakfast each morning. You can walk to the castle ,the city centre as well several pubs and restaurants. The Chinese place next door was delicious. If you arrive after 6pm they supply you with information to self check in with easy to follow instructions. There are toiletries, soft towels and a TV. If you want watch TV bring a few dvds or hdmi cord and attach your laptop. Free parking is available from 6pm to 8am. With a free 2 hour pass provided for outside those hours. 4.5 🌟

We have just stayed here in the Wensley suite. My wife and I loved the quirkiness of the building but it might not be for everyone. Met by Nigel with a complimentary drink. The room only has a large bath with a shower attachment which was not a problem. Breakfast is pre order and was very good quality.

Located just off the market square this hotel was ideal for a one night stay when attending a family party. Fast check in, sadly missed out on the free drink, but we had to be else where. We stayed in the Aysgarth room, which was on the top floor. Lovely room, had everything we needed for one night. Breakfast was ordered via the form which is left where you check in ready for the next morning, with an option of 3 times for breakfast. 8, 8.30 or 9, with check out at 10AM On the negative side, the ceilings are so low both on the way to the room, and in the room, my husband had several encounters with the beams, and he was glad to leave! The bathroom has a bath, and a shower attachment, but no shower. i wanted to hang a jump suit up in the wardrobe, but the wardrobe was so small, it was easier to hang the clothes on hangers on the wardrobe rather than in it We went down to breakfast, and the last thing I needed was the poached eggs on toast I had ordered the night before (it was a good party), so just opted for toast and cereal instead. Hubby had the poached eggs also, and said they were cooked to perfection. Whilst the hotel is lovely, and yes, I would return, just not to stay in the Aysgarth room.…

Disappointed with the whole experience. The room was on the 2nd floor and the stairs were treacherous. The room and in fact the entire building needs some attention, lots of evidence of movement in the building. Cracks, sloping doors, uneven floors, damp patches. The bathroom needed updating and cleaning, the extractor fan was filthy and appeared to be held in place by tissue paper stuffed into the wall. The mattress, duvet and pillows need replacing. Breakfast (preordered by completing a form the previous evening) was okay but greasy.

A very enjoyable stay and a very nice house. Comfortable lounge, a very welcoming owner. It was all really cosy, beautifully decorated and just a very nice place to stay. We also had one of the best cooked breakfasts on our coast to coast trip in the morning before we left. I will definitely stay here again!
