Wonderful hotel in the idyllic Garden of England. The hotel oozes English character - the building dates from 1300 and has hosted several monarchs! The main staircase even has a suit of armer and a medieval shield and swords are displayed above the magnificent main fireplace. The staff are superb, especially the manager. Friendly, efficient and welcoming. The hotel has a great atmosphere and seems a very happy place with a good culture of service from the staff. Food and drink is good (just as well as there are very limited options on Cranbrook) - we dined in the hotel both nights and enjoyed drinks before and after. The hotel has several bar areas and also outdoor seating. My room was a feature room with an impressive fireplace and a large bathroom with a spa bath. It was very comfortable and included everything I expected. Take a stroll after dinner to the old church and the playing fields beyond. The windmill is under renovation but it’s a nice stroll though the village up to there past many old buildings full of character.…
You always get a warm welcome at The George. The lady who greeted us at reception and another lady behind the bar in particular. The service is very good as is the food. Our dog is always welcome too. However, we've visited The George many times over the years and it is definitely time for a bit of an update, the general decor hasn't been refreshed in years. Such a historical, characterful little gem deserves a bit of tlc so here's hoping the brewery invests some time and care into The George. I'd love to be able to come back and give it five stars instead of four.
Had a lovely weekend at The George Hotel in Cranbrook. Lots of character in an old building. The food was amazing and great value. The room was very spacious and clean. Had the Superior room. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. There was free on site parking. A very typical Kent village. Very quaint. Will certainly be going back.
We stayed here for 2 nights just to get away. The hotel was very clean and the staff were amazing !! Food and drink were top class. There's not really much to do in Cranbrook so you need a car to visit places but i would definately return to The George. Thankyou for your hospitality
Cranbrook as a town seemed a bit downmarket compared with Tenterden, however the George is a classic old country inn. Doing a decent job coping with the COVID rules with one way systems and screens. Inevitably it means that it's a bit more difficult to just have a quiet drink. We ate in the hotel - food was decent but not memorable, menu is a bit too long perhaps. Wine reasonably priced. Room was decent size, bed comfortable. Clean. View over a vacant building site unfortunately. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. Staff very friendly.
