Cold uncomfortable hotel. Quirky half refurbished and no heating. Good adhock but ok. Can only liken this experience to camping. Hotel not ready. Proprietors have not finished hotel. Self check in through dirty car park unkempt gardens and slippery fire escape.

date 10th Nov. Got my text telling me my room number and code for the outside keypad but really not sure why they bother! The outside door was open/ajar on all 3 occasions that I used it. Also my room key wasn't on the hooks for me when I got to the corridor. I whatsapp'd the owner, no response, I rang the owner, no response, I took a key off the hooks and found myself a room to store my belongings in, went downstairs to the pub (nothing to do with accomodation) had myself a pizza and glass of wine, went back to the room, still no response from the owner (DAWN). So settled myself into the room. About 9.30pm what I can only assume was the lady who had been given my room number came and knocked on the door. I felt awful but ultimately I had paid for a room too. What I did notice was that 9.30pm the key for the room I was supposed to be in was back on the hook.. So someone had been in the room when I was due to check in at 5.30pm? No way that room had been cleaned ready for the next occupant. There is something very unsafe about the whole check in process when anyone can get in the main door, help themselves to your room key, let themselves in, put the key back on the hook and wait for you to enter your room!!!! Although the bedding was clean the bathroom wasn't! There was a shower bottle in the shower and the foam from the last user was still on the floor next to it. The shower screen was loose, the shower dripped during the night and the whole place smelt damp. Today is 15th Nov and DAWN still hasn't read my whatsapp message or replied to it..... DO NOT STAY HERE! P.S. the restaurant and pub is lovely and has nothing to do with the accomodation.

we booked this hotel because it was one minute from the airport and I was travelling in very late with elderly and young family and wanted something easy and close. Just as we were boarding the plane at 9.30pm abroad we got a text saying our location had been moved. it wasn't until we landed I was able to call the manager, and discovered we had been moved to a garden studio 20 minutes from the airport, and in the wrong direction for our long journey back to Wales. Obviously I was really surprised and unnerved, and to make matters worse, the person I spoke to was so rude and unhelpful. I wanted to cancel but it was late and expensive to reorganise something so last minute. The new location was very hard to find with only the postcode I was given and there was no phone service. So we ended up driving around at midnight, with grandparents and children exhausted, trying to find phone service to call the manager for directions and find the unmarked tracks that led to this studio at someones house. Everyone was understandably pretty stretched at this time. The manager who had been so rude did end up sending several apology messages, but it was a pretty upsetting welcome. On arrival two of the guests took one look and decided to do the four hour drive home through the night because two of the beds were not suitable for over 6 year old - they were ancient camp beds. I don't like writing bad reviews. But this was a killer at the end of our wonderful trip and I was so upset that we got sent to a different location that we booked. It wasn't even a hotel - it was somebody's garden conversion! they provided a kettle and tea bags but no teaspoons. Just a to note to future guests - check where they are putting you - this was NOT what we booked!!

NOTHING Rude owner, FALSE ADVERTISED PROPERTY and not even cleaned properly! Clothes still in wardrobe, shower filthy, no toilet roll, not enough towels and incorrect check in information for incorrect property!!! To top it off they didn’t even give the requested refund cost £142.50 for staying in different property to what we originally booked 5mins from standstead airport but was sent to an Annex property attached to owners house 15/20 mins from the pub/hotel listed on booking.com!! Clearly it wasn’t cleaned properly and they just moved out whoever lived their for the night to accommodate us!! As an accommodation provider myself I’m fully aware of what’s being cleaned and what hasn’t and how they have the gall to advertise a different property and send you check in information with codes etc for the WRONG property is beyond me. Carry on with these false tactics and your business will soon go down the drain!! We arrived late around 11am and left to stay at a different place within 20mins after discovering clothes in wardrobe image attached, bed linen not fresh, less towels than guests, no toilet roll and dirty bathroom. Plus false check in information.

Let me start by saying this place... with a lot of work has huge potential! Its in a great location to Stanstead airport and the communication leading up was 10 out of 10. Although I didn’t receive my room number via email 24hrs before as stated I had to call! However....the place needs a lot more attention to detail! There were cobwebs in the corners of the rooms, tissues in the bathroom bin, stains on the towels, the shower was un clean and there was faeces in the toilet. I understand there will be a lot of 1 night stays due to people catching flights but this is no excuse for the uncleanliness! The bedding was clean so due to this felt the need not to complain there and then, after all we were just there to sleep before our early morning flight! However just after midnight I woke up to use the bathroom and none of the lights were working, we had to use my torch on my phone to traverse the room and bathroom. They were still not working at 6am when we got up to get ready, luckily the sun was up so we were ok in the bedroom but still needed a torch in the bathroom. I tried calling the host but no reply and even sent a text message but still to this day no reply or apologies! Feel extremely sorry for the people departing much earlier who would have had no sunlight coz on returning our key to the rightful hook on departure other rooms were open and none had lights working. This should no way be allowed to have the word boutique in it’s title! ‘The Green Man Faulty Towers’ is more fitting! Sorry will not be using again!
