Welcome to Stansted Guest House, we are a small family run business, set in 3 acres of Mature Gardens and surrounded by Essex countryside, we benefit to being the second closest accommodation to Stansted Airport Terminal, we are only a 3-minute taxi ride or a 15 minute walk. Open between 16:00 - 22:30 and check out at 10:00, unfortunately we are unable to offer late/early check in's, under any circumstances. All Rooms include en suite bathrooms, freeview flat screen TVs, hairdryers, tea/coffee making facilities, ironing facilities on request and WIFI is available in your room for £2 per day, rooms have either lovely countryside views or beautiful mature garden or some have both. We are unable to accommodate children under 8 years old or extra beds in our rooms. Overnight parking is free and thereafter costs £5 per day/part day. A light self-service breakfast is available in the breakfast room overlooking our beautiful mature garden, available from 07:00 and costs £5 per person.

After booking online and selecting check in from 22.00 - 23.00 from the drop down menu(immediately after the guest house taking my payment) I received a message saying the doors would be locked at 22.30. I called to say there was a misunderstanding, as I had selected 22.00-23.00 from their drop down menu and due to a flight, i would arrive 22.30 at the very earliest, but certainly before 23.00. The owner was very rude, no customer service skills at all. I was told I couldn't stay and would not get a refund. I ended up having to make another booking for that night at the premier inn (which was 10/10 highly recommended) as I was so anxious about being on my own in January with no transport or anywhere to stay. Very unprofessional from the guesthouse, and shocking he would leave a solo female traveller stranded for the sake of 30 mins. (Which I hadv selected from their drop down menu) really awful service.

The way from the airport is a bit dangerous, there is not light and sidewalk for pedestrians. I had to change my room because the heating didn’t work in the room, I had to pay extra because the wifi is not free.

Easy to park and you get dropped off right outside the terminal. (Collected from the bus station which only another couple of hundred meters walk) The rooms are nice and clean with tea and coffee etc and there’s now some new rooms which are really nicely done. Very comfortable and you can park right outside your room. Fully recommendable and cheaper than the terminal hotels

STAY AWAY! Honestly the most unprofessional owner I have ever experienced, surprised that he managed to get away with this sort of service for so long. Made they booking using Booking.com who allowed the arrival time to be selected for 11:00. Received an email from Stansted guest house that no one was available at this time, and that I would have to cancel or not bother showing up as there would be no-one to accommodate me. What was their cancellation policy? NO REFUNDS under any circumstances. A genuine mistake on my part, as it was in the fine print, however I alerted them to this ASAP, yet were so rude on the phone. No offer to change the date or any sort of remuneration. Still charged me.

The owner of this establishment was not only extremely rude when conversing over the phone, but entirely unhelpful. We were keen to support a family-run business but after this experience I’m afraid we will think twice in future. Not only were the hotel opening hours unclear on their listing on booking.com, they were happy enough to take 65 pounds of our hard earned money for a booking which they cancelled - not us! We made a phone call straight away to contact them to be met by and unprofessional and rude people individual who was unwilling to help us, and when we contacted booking.com for help, they were also very rude to their employees. The site seriously needs to consider this hotel being advertised on their listing as after reading the other reviews on trip advisor - it seems we dodged a bullet. 65 pounds is not a small amount to many people and we had a great amount of stress trying to find another hotel at such short notice. I seriously advice and cannot emphasise enough how disappointed and annoyed the whole experience has made us. Not only will we not be using this hotel but we will avoid using booking.com as well until they sort out the flaws present in their system. Rude, unwilling to help, and keen to take money away when it was not even our fault. The idea of customer service obviously holds no meaning to the owners of this establishment and hopefully they will become of aware of this eventually. Absolute joke.
