We have had to return from holidays in France early so on our way north we booked in this hotel. We had ad 2 terrible days travelling, but the minute we walked into this hotel it was amazing. I couldn't have cared what the rooms were like as the staff were fantastic. They were welcoming, friendly helpful and professional. I JUST LOVED Helen and so did our dog Enzo. She's amazing. Matt was lovely behind the bar. The room was clean and a lovely breakfast. Couldn't as for anything better. Fabulous stay x ❤️

This hotel is in a convenient location, fairly close to the station with easy access into London. It’s also close to the canal for a pleasant walk. It has its own parking though it seemed to get full. The reception staff were very pleasant and efficient. The hotel is modern and public areas were bright, simply furnished and clean. The room was very ‘standard’, though maybe a bit small for anything other than an overnight stop but everything was very clean. The en-suite was well-lit with a good vanity unit, a generous sized shower with excellent water flow and an interesting arrangement for the loo door which enabled multiple use of the room whilst retaining privacy. With a couple of minor modifications this would be an absolutely brilliant idea. Our major complaint with the room was noisy neighbours! There was no external noise from the road, no noise from the corridor BUT we were allocated a room with a connecting door to the adjacent room. This was occupied by at least 2 possibly 3 children who kept us awake by chatting, shouting and giggling until almost midnight and then woke us up before 6:30 with similar noise. There was an occasional adult voice but clearly very little control was being exercised and they had no consideration for other guests. I very much doubt that the hotel was 100% full, so I don’t understand why guests are put into rooms with connecting doors unnecessarily, unless of course every pair of rooms is connected (but why build a hotel like that as there can’t be that much demand for connected rooms). The included breakfast was excellent with a good range of hot and cold items. The food service area was well laid out and there were plenty of staff clearing and replenishing. Overall a good stay spoilt by inconsiderate people.

Dear Dilly4472, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am glad you enjoyed your overall stay with us and I am glad the staff were pleasant and breakfast was good. I am sorry to hear about your disturbance by being in an interconnecting room. Not all our rooms are interconnecting however over the Christmas and New Year period we were fully booked every evening. We do not allocate interconnecting rooms if we can help it. I hope this doesn't defer you from staying with us again. Kind Regards Chelsea Guest Service Manager

Yep, triggered by a Great Niece who needed Baptising.

A hotel we have stayed in many times before, so interesting to see how they were coping.

It did not start well, the Car Park has been revamped and both entrances are clearly marked, "No Exit"!

Our otherwise perfect room on the 'quiet' side of the 5th Floor had to be rejected as a permanently flickering fluorescent tube could not be changed!

We were moved to a 'Roadside' room facing West. So heated by the afternoon sun, windows had to be shut to keep the noise out. A free-standing fan had been placed in each room as the air conditioning was not working.

We were rewarded with extra points for our IHG account, but it meant little sleep in a room at 25'

Breakfast was more promising. Sanitiser everywhere, no buffet and everything packaged up in sealed packets.

Only one flavour of yoghurt seemed available.

I can understand the owner of the 4x4 / flat bed truck could not park in a standard parking bay, but leaving it just shy of a junction controlled with traffic lights and parked on double yellow lines did not seem ideal.

Oh and only one bath / hand towel for the room.

Staff were helpful, friendly and plentiful.

Waited ages for the only lift to take me from the ground floor (level 1) to the 5th. When it arrived a staff member with a large laundry trolley was the only occupant. She was headed for the 5th floor, but was reluctant to share and equally reluctant to let a paying client go first...

We will be back.

Location of hotel great. Easy to find, plenty of parking and great base for nearby attractions.

Staff very efficient upon check in and when raising an issue about our room, couldn't have done more.

Room itself facing the road, however you wouldn't have known, was very quiet. Our room was at the end of the corridor so the noise from the other rooms and hallway was minimal.
Beds super comfy and black out curtains equipt us for an excellent night's sleep.

Breakfast good. Lots of hot and cold buffet and plenty if spaces to sit.

The biggest downfall was cleanliness. Our bathroom whilst having been cleaned in the obvious places (sink, shower, toilet) however the general cleanliness wasn't great. The tiles surrounding the loo were absolutely filthy, I'm not sure how they were missed when the toilet itself was cleaned. There was toothpaste on the walls, and marks I wouldnt even want to hazard a guess the origin of, all over the floor tiles and walls. I decided to clean the bathroom myself as at least I knew then it had been done properly. The bedroom carpet was also dirty, having been hoovered but not actually cleaned. The staff on reception were really apologetic and gave us some complimentary drinks and snacks so I felt the issue was dealt with, I just hope the cleaning standards are reviewed because this let down what would have been an otherwise great stay.

Overall a good stay. The good points did level out the bad so I wouldn't rule out staying here again if the cleanliness was improved. A clean room and bathroom for me is the most basic of necessities for an accommodation, I can look past decor, a little dust in the halls and facilities if this is done well, more so in these covid times than ever.

We booked a last minute room for us and our 7 year old. The room itself was really small as we had a pull out sofa bed (this was so uncomfy that our 7 year old ended up having to sleep in our double bed with us)
Dove shampoo/shower gel was provided which was really good
Rooms were very clean
Free parking was the main reason we chose this hotel.
The staff seem to all be very young and not great with customer service

The breakfast is a disgrace. We spoke with the young lady on reception and she didn't have a real answer as to why it was so bad, other than that they do not have a chef and that they just do it between them (quite shocking really)
We asked four money back for the breakfast but she said she couldn't do this and we would need to wait for the manager to arrive, which we couldn't do as we had to get to Harry Potter Studios.
There was no beans, no egg as they said they were waiting on the delivery arriving
The sausage and bacon was also empty as this was what people were having to have as the other items were missing due to the delivery not arriving
We ended up having coco pops
The coffee from the machine is also vile, i'd stay away from this if you can.
We paid extra to have the breakfast and quite frankly wouldn't ever again.
This ruined our sons birthday morning

For ease of getting into London while driving through the UK, we decided on this hotel as it was just across the street from the Apsley Rail Station (30 minutes into London). There is free parking at the rear of the hotel and a couple of restaurants within walking distance in a safe neighborhood. The price for the very clean rooms was very good and the included breakfast was varied and good.

This is a well maintained budget hotel in a convenient hotel with a large free car park.

Check in was quick and straight forward and the front of house staff very efficient.

The room was very well laid out and plenty of room for two people, there was also a sofa in the room. There are usb charging points, hair drier, iron and iron board along with an iron and tea coffee facilities. There were plenty of towels for the two of use and the bed was comfortable with very efficient air conditioning.

After being out for the evening we came back and stayed in the bar for a while having a few drinks and there were no issues getting served, the staff again were very good. We both had a very good nights sleep.

It all went Pete Tong the following morning, there were just too many people staying for the number of staff on duty. With over 300 residences and only 5 staff to cook, clear, clean and replenish supplies it was never going to be good.

It was impossible to get a full breakfast as they were either running out of bread, sausages, bacon, beans, egg or cereals. The coffee machine even ran out at one stage. They ran out of plates, spoons and knives, had to use a fork for everything. When the bacon and egg did make an appearance they were both so anaemic and undercooked I’m sure I heard the sausages grunting and the eggs clucking.

I genuinely felt sorry for the staff trying to cope with every table full and unruly children running around wild everywhere. If the hotel owners know they have a lot of residences staying they need to either get in more staff or roll up their shirt sleeves and get stuck and help out.

I feel it is over priced for what was received, namely one cup of coffee and a sausage sandwich. The rooms 4 star, staff 5 star but breakfast 1 star. I’d rather just pay for a room rate and go down the road to the nearby cafe for breakfast.

We are fans of HIE / Holiday Inn / indago Hotels.

The HIE in Hemel Hempstead is probably our most visited as we have relatives nearby.

Despite the impossibly hot weather, we were very comfortable on the Car Park / East Side of the Hotel (Room 421)

The West Side overlooks a busy road with a railway nearby so is best avoided.

Helpful and efficient staff. Good Covid 19 protocols.

The Breakfast Room overlooks the Canal and is light and, airey. It, like Reception, is on the 1st floor, of five

Breakfast was fine with particular mention of delicious Croissants. Clearly freshly baked despite being served sealed in a cellophane bag.

Only Negative was strange. Some of the USB sockets in the room were not functioning. Could be embarrassing if you arrived late, crashed out after plugging in phone / laptop / iPad for a meeting in the morning.

We will return.

We stayed here sit was the location we wanted and was pleased to find the hotel was clean. Our room was on the top floor facing the road and we could hear traffic. At home we live on a quiet road so are not used to noise.
The breakfast was a buffet which got progressively worse and often the tables had not been cleared.
The car park is interesting to leave as both exits say not to leave by them!

Hi Amanda S, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for posting a candid review. I was very concerned to read your comments regarding traffic noise, comfort, breakfast selection, and value. I understand your dismay and I am sorry. This is not the frictionless experience that we wanted for all our guests. I will make sure to share your comments with our team for the necessary improvements needed on our end. I appreciate you as our guest and I still hope you would give us another chance in the future. Good location as it has easy access to tourist areas, airports etc. It’s easy to find and lots of parking available.
The room was good value for the price we paid. It had everything we needed for a night, tea, coffee, ironing equipment, desk, towels etc. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Considering how busy it was, it was very quiet. There were lots of hygiene measures in place so everywhere was safe and clean.
Breakfast was grab and go due to Covid, however this was not worth the money as there was very little choice and the juice machine wasn’t working so breakfast drink choice was tea, coffee or water only.
The staff member on check in was really friendly and welcoming, and happy to help. The two ladies on check out in the morning however were quite unprofessional. The reception is right next to the breakfast area so while we were eating we heard a loud conversation about certain staff members being sent home, conflicts that had taken place and all about the staff members they did not like! We also heard a lot of talk about their weekend and drinking sessions. One of them was smoking in the entrance door when we left so the corridor and stairs stank.
