We had our wedding - finally! - on July 18 at the Montagu arms. It was the most special day, with fab service and lovely food, great company and accommodating staff. It was about 2,435 degrees that day so we were allowed to hire a marquee so we could eat in the garden which was lovely and felt Very private. To all the poor hotel guests who had to deal with our two year old doing laps of the gardens followed by his exhausted grandad - thank you and sorry! 🤣 Thanks to Clara and her team and we can’t wait to come back for our anniversary.

We recently stayed at this hotel for the night with friends. We can’t rate it highly enough. If you are looking for somewhere to go for a special occasion this is the place. The hotel is lovely inside and the gardens are a tranquil and beautiful place to sit and enjoy a drink. The staff couldn’t do enough for you and were all helpful and friendly. We ate in the Terrace restaurant and the service and food were superb. To cap off a wonderful stay both couples were upgraded from the superior rooms we had booked to the hotel’s top suites. These rooms were immaculate and beautifully decorated. We cannot wait to return.

We spent six nights at the Montagu Arms Hotel and were very impressed with the hotel and staff. The hotel is a throwback to a bygone era with wood panelling and old oil paintings but in every respect it is a high quality hospitality experience. The gardens in particular are a fantastic place to relax with a drink and a book. We dined at both Monty's Inn and The Terrace. There was a limited menu at Monty's but the two meals we had there were very good and reasonably priced. The Terrace was another level completely, offering superb fine dining and great wines. Our dinner there was amazing. Having travelled extensively over the years I would rate the staff at the Montagu Arms as the best in the business. From breakfast to late drinks, nothing was too much trouble, everyone had a smile on their face and were totally attentive to the needs of the guests. Every member of staff from the front desk to the cleaner was excellent. The only slight negative over the week was road noise at the front of the hotel. The weather was warm but early morning traffic required the windows and secondary glazing to stay shut. Ask for a garden view room and you will be fine. All in all though a fabulous hotel which we will return to at the earliest opportunity.

We popped in to this lovely place on Saturday afternoon around 3pm to get a refreshing drink. Open to non residents, we made our way to the beautiful courtyard where it was clear that they had been busy with lunches (uncleared tables) and an ongoing large afternoon tea in a pretty gazebo. We initially sat at a table that needed clearing, and waited to be served. It was at this point we started to think we were invisible with waiting staff not walking past our table or wanting to catch our eye. After a while we moved to a table that had been cleared and continued our wait. And waited and waited and waited. In my experience waiting staff at such a nice place like this have great peripheral vision and know what is going on in terms of people wanting to be served. So either the staff didn't have the peripheral vision you would expect, and set our expectation of service, or worst case chose to ignore us for some reason. After about 30 mins we asked a chap clearing glasses if we could be served and eventually we got a drink. It may be that they were woefully understaffed, possibly due to Covid. Either way it was probably the worst service I have ever encountered in an establishment of this standing. I appreciate these things happen, but can only leave a review based on our experience.

This was our 3rd stay at the Montagu Arms Hotel in Beaulieu. We found the hotel as good as before. We felt very well looked after. Hotel very clean, dining room very elegant, staff friendly, gardens in tip top condition. We were here for 3 nights on dinner, bed & breakfast terms. Our only criticism concerned the dinner served in The Terrace Restaurant. On the first 2 days the menu was identical ( it was mentioned that this was because of Covid). As mentioned before the portions served are tiny; no vegetables or potatoes with any dish. I know this restaurant follows the "nouvelle cuisine" doctrine but the dishes served did not look very appetising either. We also found the staff a little over the top; speaking very loudly and were at times intrusive. Nevertheless, this remains a very nice hotel well worth visiting.
