Lovely day to make short trip to the iconic hotel.Lovely friendly staff greet you in this ever lovely corner of New Milton in god's country of Hampshire.Afternoon tea anywhere is a joy least of all here.Table and general ambiance as gentile and elegant as anticipated.Tea itself lovely and served elegantly in fine china, and silver strainer and hot water in a resplendent jug Sandwiches standard cut into little fingers with a random single after thought of a mini croute.Scones warm and pillowy with the best clotted cream on earth, delicious fruity jam.. sandwiches on the whole bit dull and ditto cakes or the lack of them.Tad dissapointed with the choc mini tart, macaroon, and quarter passion fruit mouse on a non descript Short cake. For a five star hotel with such a magnificent reputation expect better.Lack.of finesse and real culinary skill on show, that aside co vid compliance excellent, still a beautiful must do venue and minor gripes didn't spoil a lovely visit

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed here with two kids 11 and 14 and had a fantastic room the kids loved the loft room the jacuzzi and the whole ambiance was great for the family . We used all facilities in the hotel and also had dinner in the dining room the food was fantastic so compliments to the kitchen team the waiter was the only real let down in the whole stay no passion or care we ended up walking off at the end of the meal and he was un aware . All the staff around the hotel were superb the swimming pools are all great the grounds stunning . Overall fantastic stay

I visited here last weekend for my Mother's birthday. The food in the Dining Room was lovely, the ambiance and decor were great, and the service in the restaurant itself were very good (but not great) and I did feel some of the dishes were overpriced (grilled cauliflower £26 with no side vegetables etc.) After our lunch, we walked around the grounds and had coffee afterwards in the outdoor seating area near to the croquet lawn. Unfortunately the service in the outdoor area was appalling. The waiting staff were scarce and we had to ask for everything as they either ignored us or forgot our requests. We also found some of them very difficult to understand. I also felt £15 for 2 lattes and a pot of tea was overpriced. I would visit the restaurant again, but I do hope the service improves in future, as the current service level does not reflect the prices and expected standard, and my Mother's Birthday was not the special day I hoped, because of this.

Our welcome was warm but our room wasn't ready by the 3pm check in time. We had to wait until 4pm, but we were given a complimentary glass of champagne in the sun on the terrace. Our Estate room was gorgeous with a private terrace with a hot tub. Dinner on the first evening was great and the service excellent. As was the bar service on the terrace. The service then went down hill and breakfast service on both mornings was awful, as was dinner service on our second evening. The waitress even gave me the wrong meal and then insisted it was what I ordered! I was disappointed with check out too as we weren't even asked if we'd had a nice stay. That being said I would stay again in the hope that the service improves.

We came for an afternoon tea with friends, it was a birthday gift from us to them. The tea itself was very good, what we had was delicious and beautifully presented, the sandwiches were so fresh and lovely cakes, nicely balanced without sugar overload. We were offered extra sandwiches and tea which was good but there was a very long wait to receive them. To be honest the service overall just wasn’t that great. The person who delivered the tea had no idea what was on there and had to read the card on the table to tell us what we had - we could have managed that! It really wouldn’t have taken long to memorise what there was before service started. Although the Hotel is beautiful we felt a little like we were in the cheap seats being in a very underwhelming function room sat by the serving station. The other dining rooms looked so lovely but they are obviously for proper guests. I think they are missing an ideal opportunity to showcase what a stay could be like. Overall we had a lovely time but I’m not sure it was the 5 star experience we expected. The devil is in the detail as they say!
