Kitchen utensils were dirty on arrival. This is disgusting on the best of times let alone with the pandemic going on! Boiler was working so had a freezing cold night with upset children. No hot water so no showers. It was too cold in the caravan for us to eat the food we brought with us so had to go and spend more money in their restaurant. The restaurant then had no bread for toast!! On speaking to reception we did not feel welcome and didn't even get an apology for the boiler problems. Few hours after reporting this someone did come to fix it. We we finally had hot water for a shower, it was disgustingly dirty and blocked. So blocked it was filling up with dusty water. I felt better before I had the shower. The evening entertainment was ok... not the best but not the worst. The toilets in the entertainment hall however were gross. Blocked, dirty, out of order. Needs some money spending on them to do them up and fix them! The whole place needs some tlc. We ended up leaving a day early as couldn't stand to stay there any longer! On complaining to the park they tried offering me a 20% of voucher for out next stay which needed to be used next year! Definitely won't be returning so managed to push for a refund but still only for £26!! Thats terrible considering we had a freezing cold first night with 2 very sad young children, and we ended up leaving early as it was so run down and dirty. We only had one semi ok night sleep there! We have visited this site several times but really won't be back now. Park dean holiday park have really let the side down with this place! Very disappointing!!

Can’t fault our stay…. Caravan was lovely and clean, site is well maintained and the food in the on site restaurant was excellent. We ate there every night, used the online ordering, which worked really well for both drinks snd good snd would highly recommend it. Good quality food and good portion sizes. Wish I had taken pics of our meals as proof. Just what the Dr ordered!

My Friend and I stayed at Highfield Grange at Clacton this week. We would like to say that all of the Staff were lovely and hospitable. The 2 Staff that stood out the most with their outstanding Customer Relations were working very hard in the bar and restaurant. Not only did they ensure that all tables were always cleared and cleaned, they were exceptional, as they were "natural" polite, friendly, fun, courteous, very well mannered, always put the customers needs first and absolutely made the evening everything we wanted whilst we were in the restaurant and bar area. The 2 Staff Members that my Friend and I highly recommend are Charlie and Harrison. We thank them so very much for the fun, laughter, politeness and exceptional standards.

Well I’ll start at the beginning. We arrived at the park and first impressions were good, great location, easy to find. We get to our caravan, the soil pipe had exploded and human poo greeted us on our arrival, as you can imagine the 3 children we had with us were fascinated and found it hillarious, we spent the best part of 50 minutes watching them flush the toilet and run outside to watch the poo float away, which was rather vile, but we phoned and phoned and phoned reception, nobody answered, a short time later we got a welcome call to which we explained the situation and maintence were called. Some two hours later the guys managed to fix the pipe so all was good again. Caravan couldn’t complain inside was very clean. And had sufficient things we would need to stay for the week….. I move onto the restaurant, great food. Not bad service and friendly staff. Chip shop- is closed more than open? Is it worth having? The shop… is it worth having?! Absolutely tiny, no essentials what so ever in there. Over priced and empty shelves. Entertainment- was okay, penny machines constantly empty no prizes and spend more time in there asking staff to help as machines were taking the money without letting us take a turn. Frustrating! Swimming- I’m still cold two weeks later, we managed to stay in a whole 20 minutes until we couldn’t take it any more, the baby pool was closed and yellow with a questionable film over it. Our second session of swimming was cancelled due to a deep clean (should have been done before the arrival of guests) The activities - we booked these a week before we came. 1 lot was cancelled due to overbooking, so we thought we would hire go karts out, except this is a cash deposit as the sports area does not take card, THE CASH MACHINE WAS BROKEN FOR OUR WHOLE STAY!! We were told repeatedly to go to Tesco to get cash?! Ridiculous. So another disappointment. The second activity our children tuned up to just to be told they were not on the list, after some confusion between the staff member and the children they were on the list but missed the whole event, the staff gave us our money back as we couldn’t believe it was £6.50 for a plastic bow and arrow to shoot some floating balls down for archery. Very overpriced and wouldn’t have amused a 9/11&12 year old. After this event, we cancelled the remaining two activities packed up the caravan and left 3 days early. We honestly couldn’t deal with anymore. This was the worse holiday we have had. And on talking to some of our neighbours, they felt exactly the same.

7 night stay… Caravan “cleaned” by the park. Was absolutely vile, cleaned the caravan top to bottom before even unpacking. Came with our own hoover and had to empty it 3 times from the living area alone. Still in a pandemic, it’s not acceptable with more than enough time to turn the caravans around with the earlier check out and later check in’s. If it looked clean it wasn’t touched. Day 2 and I had to go get a bottle of bleach and scrubbed the bathroom ceiling/walls and floor to get rid of the smell of stale p*ss! Reported a broken shower, in the afternoon, told someone would be up asap no one showed up. Left my disabled child sat in his own mess. Had to go to reception and tell them to sort it or I was using the empty caravan next door to shower him. Was told that’s ok just do it. Shower was fixed the next morning (very helpful maintenance guy) was given vouchers to use for the inconvenience. Due to the park being quiet all the activities closed early. So afternoons to evenings there was absolutely nothing to do on site other than use the arcade, a arcade that hadn’t been cleaned in god knows how long. Half the machines were off or had no tickets in. Penny machines had no prizes in at all to win. Went to the boathouse to use the vouchers given. Over a hour wait for food and even when the chef came out to see when the bar staff was coming to get the food it still came out freezing cold. Last night in the caravan and the gas bottle went at 3.30pm reported it and phoned to check it was being done as we had no hot water or gas. Was told someone would be out within the hour after training had finished to replace it. 4 phone calls and 2 trips down to the security (who maintenance pass all work to out of hours) after the other half went down and again explained we had a disabled child and no wash facilities we waited another hour for the security guy to come and change the bottle. 5 HOURS!!! With no heating or water with a double in continent child is beyond disgusting! Complaint will be going into head office. Avoid at all costs! We was looking to book again for next year but you have more hope of hell freezing over than to book to stay here again. Absolutely diabolical customer service with absolutely no regard to the people staying in their caravans. Just take their money and let them get on with it would be the only way I can describe their attitude!
