We stayed in the house for one night during our travel towards Johanesburg. The .rooms are medium in size, clean and comfort. Breakfast was very good. The house is decorated nicely with a homely feeling. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

All in all a very quiet & pleasant B&B to stay at whilst in Witbank on business.(also would be good as a stop over en-route to from Kruger etc. there is basically no other reason to go to Witbank.)
Apart from the tone of some of the signs (e.g. the one on the gate) which I suspect is due to language differences & nothing else, everything else was fine - the owners were pleasant & helpful (even though I arrived earlier than my expected arrival time it was not a problem).(whilst they are Afrikaans they are quite fluent in English as well). The breakfast, whilst relatively basic (yogurt, fruit juice, 2 eggs, bacon. mini sausage, 2 slices toast & coffee), was well worth the price (R40.00). whilst the rooms were basic they had all amenities required for my stay of 12 nights (Free Wi-fi, DSTV hotel, plenty hot water etc). would definitely stay there again.

Extremely unwelcoming. The sign outside the gate was just a warning – and more was to come.

After ringing the bell ONCE a male person appeared after some time. Any “Welcome to Ado, sir” ? No way. (“ You are a disturbance but we need your money”).
Checking in was easy. And then the disappointments started. The room was more like a dungeon – only the iron bars were missing. However, the next morning I found other rooms with no window at all!
No A/C, no WiFi – but a fridge that did not work. OK - the engine was working but it did not decrease the temperature .... All other guests had already checked in, so I could not change my room, I was told.
After a while the owner showed up and offered me my money back if I wanted to stay at another place. "The hotel will charge 1000 ZAR for a night - as you pay only half that price you should understand that the quality is not equal to that of the hotel" the host said in a raised voice, At 4 PM it would not be so easy to get a decent accommodation. His anger showed by raising his voice. (No critics accepted!) Anyway I stayed and hoped for a cool night and a quiet environment.
Sleeping quality was OK, breakfast was barely acceptable.
The next morning I took a stroll in the fenced-in area - and suddenly I met my host again, telling me that I had no business where I was now. It was PRIVATE!!!! No sign (this time), and an open gate didn't really tell me it was a restricted area.
All in all: "Money is welcome, visitors a nuisance".

I made a booking to stay over one night 29th October. The next day I received an sms advising me that my booking was cancelled as their existing guests had extended their stay. They sent me the names and numbers of two other guest houses but made no effort to assist us.

When we stayed in Ireland the guest houses went out of their way to assist us if they had no rooms available.

I just found the communication from ADO very poor and lacking in providing any service.

I will be visiting eMahlaleni regularly from now on but will not be making any bookings at ADO.

Regards
John Hopkins
