We made a booking, paid a deposit (which they advertise is not necessary, but which they asked for nevertheless) and there was no one to receive us at reception. It was deserted and desolate. No one answered the phone when we enquired about our reservation. And of course no apology. An apology would have prevented this review.

Very disappointed. The place doesn't look like the photos on the website. Our cold water tap in the shower bath did not work. Theirs a fridge in the room but no water for their guests. Pillows are bad.

I was looking forward to my stay at Indlela Country Estate but was sadly very disappointed because of many challenges.

Had been travelling since early the morning and arrived here after 6 in the evening. Ended up waiting a while at reception for someone to check me in. When the friendly young man, who eventually helped me, arrive he was distracted by a group of tourists who jumped the line and demanded his attention. I waited patiently as I could see he was trying his best to accommodate everyone.

When I finally got to my room, I discovered it did not look at all like the double deluxe room I booked - instead I was given one of the other units. I noticed there was no microwave (as advertised) - a problem as I was planning to stay in my room to work on my presentation and had bought an instant meal on the way in. I asked about this but then there was another distraction at the door by a handy man and was never given an answer.

Turns out there was also no walk-in shower. Which was still ok until the next morning when I tried to open the tap and found that the cold water tap was stuck! With no time to spare and not dressed I had to revert to the basin for washing.

There was also no Wi-FI in the room. The young man did explain that they were working on this and that there was Wi Fi in the main lodge. Not an option if you were planning to retire and work in your room.

No hangers in the cupboard to hang out my clothing - so the chair had to do!

Struggled to switch off the main room light - only to discover that I had to climb on the bed to do this - the light chain was broken. This was a scary exercise as one of the lights were hanging loose.

Breakfast (or lack off) another disaster. There was a large tour group occupying the small breakfast room and all the inside seats - leaving only outside tables for those who could brave the col. I joined the food line - but left (after waiting for about 10 minutes) when the plates ran out and the one poor lady trying to cook breakfast just could not deal with the demand.

Was quite a challenge having to do a presentation after such a stay

A lot of potential and good spot - but need some involved management.
