#6 of 10 B&Bs / Inns in Magnetic Island
'A B & B with a view' REFURBISHED Oskar's is the only Bed & Breakfast accommodation in Nelly Bay. Oskar's only caters for 2 people at a time , we do not cater for children. Stay in a tropical architecturally designed large wooden Queenslander. In real terms Oskar's is a very large one bedroom unit with an expansive deck and endless stunning views of the rain forest garden we have created, Gustav Creek and the hills of Nelly Bay as a back drop. Oskar's has its own private entrance, own private verandah, a large bedroom with high cathedral ceilings and its own ensuite. We have combined our love of vintage Australian furniture, historical local original art works and photographs, with a touch of serene Asian influence of beautiful Thai silks. Paintings are all by local artists and reflect the beauty of the island. We offer our guests privacy. Oskar's Rainforest Retreat has some modern appliances like Air conditioning, Fan, TV, micro wave, jug, toaster, fridge. We provide a gourmet continental breakfast of cereals, toast, a platter fresh seasonal fruits, yoghurt and fruit juice with good quality teas and coffee. Guests can make at their own leisure whether it be for breakfast or brunch. We have hotel quality bed linen and towels, Oskar's is cleaned and serviced daily. The owners have lived on Magnetic Island for 26 years and have vast local knowledge of where are the best beaches and bays to visit, how to get there, where are the best walking tracks and the best places to eat. Oskar's provides an intimate timeless setting with an abundance of bird life, the occasional koala and a couple of resident wallabies, all our guests need to do is just relax and enjoy the view. If you like something out of the ordinary and enjoy the charms of a bygone era then Oskar's is for you. Named after the family Shih Tzu, your host Debbie looks forward to welcoming you.

the room is connected to the owners house but still secluded. The breakfast we had was cut up fresh fruit, little yoghurts, muffins, bread to toast, jam and butter... absolutely perfect for us. The birdlife just infront of you is amazing. The hostess welcoming and informative. We had two days, with the worst rain in years ever, but made the best of it. Love the place, would love to visit again without the rain ;)

There is much to love about this great place. Absolutely recommend from the warm welcome, the view from the balcony, the bubbly and fruit platters, we were well looked after. The hosts were generous with the best advice and gave us our privacy. Only complaint is our stay was not long enough. Gorgeous natural island.

Oskars is set in tropical gardens with an abundance of native wildlife. It is a true eco built home for the tropics, large and spacious verandah and breeze way to capture the cooling breezes. Great pod coffee and lots of luscious tropical fruit and bubbly Hosts are friendly and helpful. A very well thought out accommodation , beautifully decorated. Highly recommend.

Oskar's is most suitable for those seeking a comfortable place to stay, but beware the noise of 'nature' at pre-dawn and sunrise to welcome in a new day. View on the back balcony is nice and the place sits among a lovely setting. Room has all the essentials for a short stay, which is connected to the main house. Accommodation caters for smokers. Tropical fruit platter and basics are ready in the fridge for your breakfast. Oskar's is a short drive from the ferry terminal, though parking is on a cul-de-sac.

The room was large but the vacuuming from the owner in the rest of the house was disturbing. The price was expensive for the accomodation provided. The Tv was very small. Breakfast prepared for the next day to early as it sits in the fridge for over 16 hrs before we consumed it. It was an ok stay but expected a lot more for the price I paid for 1 night. I assume the price was elevated due to the Island race week which I feel is not right.

Response from Debra D, Owner at Oskar's Rainforest Retreat Bed and Breakfast
Responded 20 Feb 2018
Hello David, You requested an early check in - 2 hours earlier than our usual checkin time, we made sure Oskar's was ready for you. Our breakfast is a gourmet continental breakfast and provided on arrival along with a complimentary bottle of bubbly, that our guests can prepare at their leisure, We do not advertise a serviced cooked breakfast, which I think is what you expected. We believe Oskar's is good value for money. We do not elevate our tariff during race week. The vacuuming you heard was not in our home but in the grounds of our gardens which are maintained daily. I am sorry that you were disappointed,
