Very comfortable bed and good food. Weekends can be a bit noisy but a room towards the back, far away from the bar, is fine. The shower was hard to control the water temperature. Good venue for groups, wedding parties etc.
Went for Sunday lunch. Had soup starter and lamb as a main course. Both very good. Food was Well cooked and hot. Service a little slow probably due to Remembrance Day but did not spoil the day or meal. All staff very nice and will go again.
We had visitors from Australia and wanted a quick lunch altogether before the lads went off to football in the afternoon. The table reserved was in a small private room with lovely lighting. The food was excellent and was served very quickly. A selection of dishes was chosen from omelettes, hand carved ham and eggs, fish and chips, sausage and mash and pizza's. There are also other specials and larger meals if time had allowed but the lunch time menu was perfect for our needs and was served fresh, hot and tasty. We will certainly be visiting again and would definitely recommend.
I had no choice but to mark this hotel as being poor. I really wanted to like it and had great expectations.
Firstly the good points are that the bar area looks like it had been recently refurbished, had good service and the food was excellent. This was the only thing that made me not mark it as terriable.
Location was in the centre of Belper which was great for visting family which I had come to do.
However the room that I was allocated was at the back of the hotel over looking the smokers area and the noise levels were really unacceptable and went on into the early hours of the morning. I think if you had a room away from this location it may have been OK.
There was a lot of fire doors and steps up and down so would not recommend if you have mobility issues.
Looking at the bedroom it looked like an attempt had been made to refurbish it. The bed was comfortable and the bed linen look new. However the size of the room was a lot smaller than rooms of others in my party even though I paid the same rate. Also not all the plug sockets were working, the radiator did not work and the window was impossiable to open.
Into the bathroom and again it was tiny, the toilet would only flush if you pumped the handle up and down several times, the towel rail was so small it only fitted one towel and the other was left on top of the sink. The shower was a very old electric one, it had black mould on the bottom as well as mould growing on the celling above the shower. The taps on the sink were both labelled as being the hot tap.
The breakfast in the morning I have to say was good and the waiter very friendly.
Would I stay here again?, that would have to be a no. For me it was overpriced for what you received and lack of sleep due to the noise did not help matters.
Enjoyable stay - small but comfortable room. Whilst Hotel had live music during the evening in the bar this didn't cause me any disturbance. Breakfast was very good - coffee much better than the norm in many hotels. I would happily stay at the hotel again.

Hi, You will need a taxi to take you to the tram museum, it's about 4-5 miles away. If you visit the Tramway Museum website they will give public transport information regarding bus travel. When are you going to Crich ? We are members of the Museum Society but live 200 miles away. We have visitor free admission tickets and could send them to you at the hotel,
