Stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. The location was perfect for what I needed, tucked away but with easy reach of Taplow station and a reasonably large Tesco just 1.5 miles away and walkable. I booked a junior suite and the room was really well appointed. Cleanliness was good although the carpet in the room looked tired and could do with replacing and I'd have loved fluffier towels in the bathroom rather than the starched versions. But those two things are observations and would not stop me from booking to come back. There's a lovely terrace that seems to get the sun all day, overlooking the well kept grounds. Had lunch and breakfast in the restaurant. The food I found to be very good, you do however pay the price for an onsite hotel. All employees I had interactions with were helpful and friendly. One observation was on check in. I opted for the online check in thinking it would make my arrival at the hotel super speedy. Unfortunately, it did not. I still managed to spend 8 minutes getting checked in so not really sure of the benefit to online check in. But all in all, I loved my stay and will return!

Just returned from afternoon tea for my husband's birthday. Sadly, the 'treat' was very disappointing. I had pre-booked a gluten free tea but it proved to be the worst I have ever had (and trust me, I have had loads of them!). The small anemic-looking scones just dis-integrated on cutting so I was left with a pile of crumbs. In addition, the crumbs had a very strange flavour so I ended up leaving them. Admittedly the sandwiches were good but the cakes were just average'. My husband's afternoon tea was 'ok' but, like mine, minimal quantity. Such a shame as I had booked because of the good reviews about the food. My suggestion to you: don't bother.

Using Secret Escapes we booked a two day visit with three course dinner included. The staff were excellent and attentive throughout our stay. Room 9 is just above the reception and was clean and well presented. The mattress was very comfortable, a Tempur no less. If there was any issues with this room I would say it would be noise from guests using the stairs to access the floor above. These butt onto the bathroom wall for room 9 and if you were a light sleeper it might cause a problem. Luckily for us it wasn't an issue. The breakfast consisted of Coffee, Tea, Fruit juices, pastries and toast to start then a full English or eggs Benedict/Florentine. You could ask for cereals but these weren't shown on the menu. Breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable. The three course dinner was really good and you can download a copy of the menu from the hotel's website. The selection however was extremely limited with three starters and three main courses and four desserts. From the starters and mains there was a vegetarian option, leaving two dishes to select from. If staying two nights or more this limits drastically any form of choice. There is an all day menu available, with different selections, but we weren't aware of this untill we were leaving at the end of our second day. According to the manager it would have been possible to select any two courses from this menu as an alternative. The three course menu will be expanded in the near future to offer more choice to longer staying guests. Parking is free and plentiful but do be careful and avoid parking under trees for obvious reasons. The grounds are beautiful and in glorious weather having a coffee, meal, afternoon tea or perhaps an alcoholic beverage on the terrace is not to be missed.

Spent three nights in a twin room. The room itself was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and there were two chairs provided. My only concerns with the room were that there were only three hangers provided, and it was a bit dark, with only lamps provided rather than a light for the whole room. The check in and out times are generous (2pm for check in, 11am for check out). The staff were always courteous and helpful. The quality of breakfast was also good, but the menu was geared toward cooked breakfasts. This was OK for us, but I think it is good to have the option of continental breakfasts/cereal for those who prefer it. The location of the hotel is stunning, in copious grounds surrounded by peaceful countryside. The decor and ambience of the hotel is very grand, befitting its history as a stately home. Overall, a good stay and recommended.

Check in Quick and efficient although room wasn’t ready for early check in at 1 as requested and agreed but was done by 1.15, which gave us a chance to sit on the balcony in the sun so wasn’t a problem. Parking Plentiful - avoid being under the trees if you don’t want to get covered in bird droppings! Room We had a junior suite ground floor, which had a nice large terrace to itself from which you could head out to the grounds. We used that as our only way in and out all weekend rather than going out through the hotel. It was quicker to get to the car and negated the need to put a facemark on. The terrace overlooks the large front lawn on which we spotted rabbits and a couple of deer over the weekend. The room was spacious, had two easy chairs, a decent sized wardrobe where the safe was. The bed was a comfy 4 poster. Bathroom The suite has a jacuzzi bath but we didn’t use this. The shower is in a separate cubicle with a fixed overhead shower head. Personally, I find these a bit annoying as it’s hard to get out of the water stream to use shampoo and shower gel, but other’s will clearly be fine with that. What I did find a touch annoying was, depending on the angel of the shower head, a single stream of water would shoot out from where the head joins the pipe. I think it was just a washer needing to be replaced we didn’t notice on first use and that single stream of water had cleared the top of the cubicle and left us with a soaking wet bathroom floor. The water temperature was beyond hot from the hot tap - too hot to only have that tap in use but that’s better than not enough hot water. Breakfast This was a typical selection for this type of hotel. Tea or coffee and juice were all offered as was toast. We tried the English breakfast, eggs benedict (florentine also an option) and all were nice, with the food served quickly. Service was a little inconsistent across the 3 days we were there. We weren’t offered juice the second morning, for example. We consistently had different items on the table compared with other when it had been (re)laid - juice glasses missing, salt and pepper on some, tea spoons on some, sauces on some - which is a mild annoyance when you only notice when you come to need it. If the hotel could tighten up around that then there’s not a lot else they could improve on. In short, we had a lovely few days here. The hotel is really nice inside - traditional but not stuffy - the staff were all really friendly, and the grounds and front facing rooms have a lovely lawn view. the outdoor terrace and dining area also faces that way so even if you pop in for a drink or afternoon tea, you’ll get to experience the peace and the view. Definitely worth staying here if you fancy somewhere a little quieter yet well located for getting to all the sights in the area.

Room Tip: Junior ground floor suite has its own terrace but pick a room facing the front of the hotel
