I visited the hotel two days ago to celebrate my mum’s and daughter’s birthday. We were all booked in superior rooms however they were located on upper floors with a lot of stairs too difficult for my elderly mum to navigate. The lady on reception that afternoon was very kind and accommodating and moved us to a room on the ground floor which was lovely and told us we could park our car at the annexe near to where the room was located so we didn’t have to walk from the main car park through reception to get to our room instead could just take our luggage straight from the car to our room. Food and afternoon tea was delicious and the waiting staff courteous and friendly. My daughter’s room was fantastic but located on the top floor of the hotel and it was a bit of a maze to get to her room but she thoroughly enjoyed her stay. We all had a nice relaxing time. Only gripe was my room was a bit cold the first night of my stay but I soon got hang of the air conditioning unit so was able to increase the room temperature.

We visited this hotel for a two night stay, staying in a Superior room which was genourously sized with bags of space and seating area with a separate lobby and bathroom. Given that the hotel building is very old, it was well presented on arrival.
The staff were all very welcoming and friendly, always willing to chat if required and to suggest things to do.
We enjoyed the food which was of very good quality, eating there both evenings as well as taking breakfast there.

My wife and I have a birthday on consecutive days in March and with some good friends booked two rooms for one night. The hotel is in quiet grounds in a no through road complete with the occational deer and rabbit sharing the peace and quiet. The staff especially Kim and Michelle are excellent, nothing seemed too much trouble. Had an upgrade to a superior double which was room 4 with a vista of the ground and park beyond. Definately would consider another stay when in Bedforshire again.

We had lunch for 6 in the library, a private dining experience laid on by the hotel as the original reservation was for the main restaurant. Lovely to be able to chat with family visiting with views of the grounds and discreet piped music.

We started with coffee and homemade biscuits in the lounge before making our way to the library looked after all the time by Carol who was exceptional.

The food at lunch was well presented and tasty with meat fish and vegetable options picked for mains. There was also a duck main course on the menu. Everyone enjoyed starters and mains stating the food was excellent. This was washed down by a smooth Rioja and champagne by the glass.

Would definitely recommend for lunch with sense of occasion!

The hotel is old and quirky with period features, unfortunately didn’t have enough time to really appreciate it as you would with an overnight stay, sure the rooms are beautiful.

Thank you Flitwick Manor for a lovely day!

We spent three nights here, one of which was part of a Virgin Experience which included a visit to Bletchley Park.
We had a standard double room which was very comfortable with a modern shower room.
Breakfast and dinner were delicious with a wide variety of dishes available.
All staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is set in lovely grounds, which unfortunately we could not explore due to the terrible weather. We will have to come again.
The only negative was that the hotel felt cold even with the heating on and gas fires in public rooms. As the hotel is a very old manor house with high ceilings and no double glazing it must be very difficult to heat in winter. Apart from that, a lovely stay.

We booked to stay at Flitwick Manor as we were visiting Bletchley Park 13 miles away. The Woburn Estate is also only about 5 miles away. I booked a dinner, bed and breakfast deal direct with Hallmark hotels for 4 adult couples. We were welcomed by name as we entered reception and made very welcome. Our rooms were warm, large and clean with comfortable beds and pleasant views in a lovely setting. One of our couples had a ground floor room which was appreciated as there is no lift. There is a nice bar area with an open (gas) fire and the young staff were very attentive.

The inclusive dinner was a full 3 course meal with a varied choice. Some items were at a supplement e.g. fillet steak, extra side vegetable dishes and teas and coffees. All courses were hot, tasty and, again, very well served by the polite staff. There was a reasonable range of drinks at usual hotel prices. The inclusive breakfast was similarly good and varied with cereal, juices, fruit salad and pastries as well as a range of hot options.

The restaurant/reception staff split our bill 4 ways, including 3 bottles of wine and individually selected side dishes and teas and coffees which made sorting the finances out very easy for us. Plus reception staff were more than happy to give directions and even printed a map for us. The service we received throughout our stay was excellent and we would definitely stay there again on those offer terms if in the area.

We stayed one night at this hotel as part of a package with Bletchley Park.
Impressive drive and house on arrival with plenty parking space. The garden is nice for a wander round.
Our room had a 4 poster bed with drapes and furniture to match the style of house. Can imagine the large fireplace being used in days gone by. Large en suite ( shower over bath ). The room itself was clean, decor a bit dated and windows in the room could do with a bit of tlc inside and out.
Dinner and continental breakfast ( we didn't opt for cooked ) was good and staff friendly.
Hand sanitiser was placed around the building for guests use.

I want to be clear at the outset, that this review applies whether you are a fan of a classic old fashioned style hotel or the latest in modern luxury.

1. The rooms are incredibly tired, the carpet is filthy everywhere and the thought of walking around without slippers is a big no no.

2. There was also dust everywhere, numerous surfaces not wiped down etc. apparently lamps, mirrors etc. don’t need cleaning, which was bad before but is now even worse thanks to covid. There was also a hair band on the floor when we checked in suggesting the rooms are hardly even cleaned.

3. Our room was completely freezing, a fact which the hotel clearly knows because there were TWO electric heaters sitting in the room on our arrival, however these should not be left on whilst you are sleeping and thus you wake up the next morning in a freezing cold room.

4. The shower was totally void of pressure, which is bizarre because the same problem does not effect the sinks.

5. The bathroom in our room was carpeted. I appreciate that this was the norm in a bygone era, but in a hotel in 2022 this is fundamentally unhygienic. The baths were chipped and dirty looking and the sinks were mouldy.

6. I was in a party that booked two identical rooms and the disparity between the rooms was enormous. I strongly suggest you ask to view the room before accepting it as rooms in the same price category vary enormously.

7. The restaurant staff were fine (though I think they must have a menu shortage as it was one between two) and the dining room pleasant if you like this style, however the food was completely mediocre and generally tired. I’d heard good things about it previously so I can only assume that the food is either a) stuck in the past, b) gone down hill or c) this sort of mediocre blandness that satiates the cravings of the hotel’s average clientele.

I suspect Best Western doesn’t care, but the important thing to iterate to potential visitors is that, this is not an old fashioned ‘style’ hotel. It is simply old. Why it has 4*s is frankly bizarre and leaves me questioning the value and integrity of the AA hotel star rating system.

Dear T3472RWjamieh, Thank you for reviewing the hotel. There is no excuse for the shortfalls in product and service you recieved. We have recently had works to the central heating system replacing all of the radiators in the hotel. As the hotel water supply is gravitationally supplied, from time to time, water pressure can vary. I have spoken to my head of housekeeping regarding the dust and we have deep cleaned the room in full for future guests. Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention, Kindest Regards, Sam.

We had our wedding here last week after 2 cancellations last July and this July due to covid restrictions and have nothing but praise for eveyone at Flitwick Manor. Sasha who took charge initially before leaving and then Kim especially who is in charge of events and was there on our big day with her amazing staff ensured the day just flowed perfectly. The night before my wife and her daughters and mum stayed in 2 rooms and then the night of the wedding we had all the rooms and everyone who stayed was impressed with how lovely each room was. The actual wedding was great and everything was so well organised with us being able to put our own personal touches all around without any problems and Kim and her team helping wherever possible. All turnarounds from the wedding ceremony on to the meal then into the bar room for the speeches and finally the reception (with a live band ) were all done smoothly and exactly how we wanted and had spoken about with Kim in the days leading up. Finally the next morning we woke up and went down to a lovely buffet breakfast with all our family and friends that perfectly finished off the 2 days. Every little thing we had asked for were accomodated inc a live link to my daughter and family in Australia which was set up brilliantly in the perfect Library room. We have been told by everybody who celebrated with us that the day was amazing and a special mention must go to the chef and his team who cooked everything on time and to perfection. Apart from my daughter not being there we would not have changed a single thing about the day and anyone who is thinking about having their wedding here then speak to Kim and def do it as you'll have no regrets at all and we cant wait to see our photos in the lovely hotel and grounds.

We've booked for the afternoon tea here on a few special occasions. Our most recent visit in January 2020 - overall on this occasion we felt disappointed compared to previous visits and therefore would probably firstly consider other venues in the future. Very nice setting and staff are very pleasant and accomodating. We asked for vegetarian and vegan options this time and although the cakes were nice enough we felt they lacked previous variety. As some other reviewers have suggested the sandwiches were not great and at least one of the group ate only one. Uninspiring. We had two visits by staff to the table - one to deliver the initial drinks and the second to deliver the food. The main issue for us was the lack of drinks - is it too much to expect a second cup of tea? Nobody checked back with us and I didn't feel it was very good that I had to eventually go off on a wander to try and find someone to ask if we could have a second pot of tea! In the end I couldn't find anyone available so we didn't bother. I then had to set off for another wander around the corridors to find someone to take our payment. Perhaps we were unlucky and staff were busy elsewhere but not sure that's an adequate excuse. At £100 for four people I thought our experience on this occasion was poor value and rather disappointing.
