My husband and I just got back from the most amazing and relaxing vacation! Hotel Esencia was the most gorgeous hotel that we have ever stayed in. The hotel and its location were beautiful and truly breathtaking! Every single aspect of the hotel including the...More
Where does one start with a review of Esencia? In summary, it's the most heavenly, beautiful and relaxing place. Why, and how? I think it can be simplified to the physical and tangible, and the experiential and ethereal.
This was our third trip to Esencia...More
This was my first time to the Riviera Maya and I would not stay anywhere else. The big “luxury” resorts to the north look beautiful but they’re just that - big resorts. The town of Tulum was 40 minutes away; we enjoyed eating at Arca...More
My wife and I have been to many of the top-rated resorts in the Riviera Maya - including the Rosewood Mayakoba, Banyan Tree, Azulik, and Be Tulum. All are amazing with unparalleled service and comfort, but none compare to the beauty, intimacy and charm of...More

Dear Ayanna B,
"Best hotel by far"...that's an incredible compliment! Thank you so much.
My staff and I are truly committed to providing the absolute best guest experience we possibly can. We are a small family owned and operated business and Hotel Esencia is really...More
Hotel Esencia is a 50-acre private estate, with an awe-inspiring beachfront, two swimming pools, day spa, three restaurants, and an indulgent atmosphere fitting of royalty. In fact, the property and many of the …Morebuildings once served as the exclusive beach-side retreat of an Italian duchess. Though friendly, warm and generous, the duchess demands the very best and Esencia still benefits from her superior taste, her impeccable style, and her zest for life. Less

They do have paddle boarding and I think they had kayaks. No volleyball. Don't recommend biking on Hwy 307. No bike paths and a little too busy with traffic. You can have a cab pick you up and head to Puerto Aventuras. It's easy to also rent a car in Cancun and head south to Tulum. You will love Esencia. Why leave?

There is in Akumal but the best is in Punta Allen. Contact Greg Rahe In Punta. I can't remember his company and Trip Advisor won't let me give you his email. Just Google his name. They can send a boat to pick you up at certain docks south of Tulum. Or they might pick you up from Escenia. But that would be a long boat ride. If you have a car it's a piece of cake. I rent a car all the time and drive to certain parts of the biosphere to fish in the bays. Caught small permit. But Greg is the way to do it. His guides are great and know where the fish are. Have been fishing with his guides twice and each time it's been epic. Bones Jacks, Tarpon and Snook. All on a fly. Have fun and enjoy Escencia. It's fabulous.
