A uniquley African barefoot-luxury experience! A remarkable eco-friendly lodge right on the beach in the Quirimbas Archipelago. Its comfortable villas, friendly staff, sumptuous meals, ice cold beverages and extraordinary diving and fishing make this one of East Africa's hidden gems. It's a short 1 hour boat transfer from Pemba and then you are in a tropical paradise, with fishing, diving, snorkelling, kayaking right on your doorstep! A must visit destination!

This was our second trip to Situ, and we were so happy to find that it was every bit as special as it had been the first time, two years ago. What makes Situ stand out from other island lodges is the laid back and relaxed atmosphere of the lodge, the amazing attitude of staff and management towards their guests and the exceptional home style cooking, with delicious seafood dishes created from fresh, locally sourced produce. The fishing and diving in the area is amazing, and as good as one could expect anywhere in Mozambique. The lodge is small and personal, and you feel like you are in a comfortable family environment when you are there. The managers of Situ are Craig and Tessa, a welcoming couple, who bend over backwards for their guests. I have travelled to many coastal and island lodges in the Indian ocean and Situ remains in my top three.

This splendid resort is managed by the marvelous couple, Tess and Craig. Tess is a fabulous diver and remarkable underwater photographer. She captures the full up sea life with skill and clarity. Craig produces magical sustenance from his kitchen mixing and matching available food with finesse and culinary skill. There is much to do to keep one busy if so inclined . Scuba diving, snorkeling ,deep sea fishing( One of the best rigged boats I have fished from)and walks. A fantastic 10 days at Situ .😄🐟🐬🐠

Situ is a diving getaway must! And what's more one is thoroughly spoilt by the warmest reception from hosts Tess & Craig and all the staff. The lodge is wonderfully comfortable and feels so authentically remote with its sand floors, simple decor and beautiful outlook onto the tidal beach and rocky 'bommies'. The rooms are private, set apart from each other, and perfectly designed with beautiful interiors. Craig is the best chef ever .... we were indulged with the freshest of seafoods, salads and fruit and then delicious desserts .... how does he do it in such a remote setting?? Tess is warm and on the button of everything. And then the diving - superb reefs and superbly guided by Predi, Situ's diver instructor. It couldn't have been a more perfect week.

Two years later and we visited again to find the same gem of a place with friendly staff, well run by Tessa and Craig, food great, diving great and relaxed so hope that it is not another two years before we go back again. During the whole time never wore shoes or shirt so it a casual place. Our group from Cape Town, PE, EL and Durbs got on really well and it was great to meet like minded friendly people. Highly recommended.

Another hidden gem just off the coast of Pemba - If unpretentious barefoot luxury is what you are looking fo this may fo you, if you looking for a villa with a plunge pool and butler then keep on looking!! Situ is about an hour boat ride for Pemba and hence an easy and budget friendly transfer. It is in a great setting amongst some fantastic fishing and diving spots. Their boats and diving/ fishing equipment are solid and well maintained. Craig and Tess are such good people and fantastic managers, its very obvious how well they treat their staff and how respected they are, its like a family. The food was world class... its clear how passionate Craig is about the food and it shows… sooo good!! This spot is awesome and great value and I felt at home from the minute I arrived. It should be in your Mozambique itinerary.

Great destination for a family holiday. Our ages ranged from 3 years old to 70 years old. Craig and Tessa were wonderful hosts. They offered a wide range of activities which accommodated all the different age groups and were particularly kind and good with our grandchildren, as hosts they created a very happy and relaxed atmosphere.

If you are looking for a place that has a butler serving you cocktails by your private swimming pool at your air-conditioned villa, then this lodge is not for you - please stay away! BUT if you want a non-commercial lodge for a wonderfully relaxed holiday with incredible hosts (Craig and Tess) who serve up delicious fresh 3 course dinners - (mainly seafood), mixed with honest unpretentious hospitality and a good dose of fun - then this is your home from home.. This is where you go to unwind, swim in the aquarium in front of the lodge, go diving in some of the best dive sites in the world (so said one of the returning guests who have dived the world), and fish deep-sea for a monster GT, sailfish or wahoo. The resort is eco-friendly with electricity being generated mainly from solar panels. There are great walks and the bird life is prolific. Staff are super friendly and nothing is too much trouble to make your holiday as relaxing as possible. There is an honesty bar that has all the usual. Best is that you never wear shoes or dress up - and we met several very nice guests who are now friends. We just love this spot - a true hidden gem! We will be back.

Tessa and Craig are fantastic hosts, supported by wonderful staff: arrived as guests and departed as friends!! The atmosphere is so friendly and relaxed, and the setting magnificent. The accommodation is extremely comfortable and the food, specially prepared by Craig, is divine. We swam, fished, snorkeled, bird watched, walked, fed eels, learned a bit about the lives of the locals, climbed baobabs and were lucky enough to swim with dolphins... and the cherry on the cake were the household pets, Mischief the Jack Russell and Monty the mongoose!! Loved every minute!!
